September 2015 Favorites

October means that Fall has begun! The leaves are falling already here in Minnesota. This year has been going by so fast, its crazy! This month I had a few favorites: some new and some old.

Too Faced Stardust Palette

I thought that I could skip this palette craze until I saw the swatches! This palette has some crazy pigmented shadows! This palette is by Too Faced which is one of my favorite makeup companies. They recently paired with the popular makeup artist on Instagram named Vegas Nay. I honestly did not know who she was until they came out with this palette.  This palette is an Ulta exclusive and sold in-stores and online. Since this palette is Limited Edition I am not sure how long it will be available (or if it still is). The third row is my least favorite because the first 2 shades in that row are too much alike and are also lacking pigmentation. My favorites shades include: Showgirl, Jackpot, Millennial, and Golden Nugget. Another shade that could be a little more pigmented is #selfie. This palette allows me to make a gorgeous bronzy look perfect for Fall which keeps me reaching for this palette.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

When this mascara first came out I decided to give it a try and got the full sized version. I hated it! Since then I have gotten samples of mini versions of that mascara. This makes me wonder if I had a faulty mascara when I originally tried it, because it was so messy and just horrible. You can see that original review here. I got a recent sample with the Too Faced Star Dust set that was described above. I actually really like this mascara. Do they put something different in their mini mascaras? It makes my lashes the blackest of blacks. It is super easy to remove which is very important to me. It does not last all day on my lashes which is a con, but I have never really had good luck with mascaras lasting all day (I want to be able to get it off at night). So was my first experience with this mascara faulty or is the full sized formula different?

Too Faced Kabuki Brush

I swear I use more than Too Faced, but I loved quite a few of their products this month apparently. I got this Kabuki brush a few months ago and this month I have been loving it. It is a retractable kabuki brush so it is perfect for traveling. It feels amazing because of how soft it is. The brush is cruelty free which is a big pro for me. I use it both as a powder brush and a blush brush. All I need to do is tap this brush in my blush and it places the perfect amount of blush on my cheeks. I really want to try their brush set, but it is way too expensive.

bareMinerals Well Rested

Dark circles have always been a battle for me and I think that it will always be a battle. Sometimes I laugh when people who make beauty videos on YouTube comment about how terrible their dark circles are. Yeah…you have none to hardly anything…that is what I am thinking while watching beauty videos. I use 3 products to cover my dark circles and sometimes I can still see them. The first product I use is by Becca and it is the under eye brightening corrector. I then add the Urban Decay Naked weightless complete coverage concealer. Then I add this Well Rested product on top. I feel like this product has helped hide my panda eyes quite a bit. It is very smooth powder and is very blend-able. It is very easy to apply as well. I am so glad that I got this sample and will plan to buy the full sized product once I run out of it.

It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush in Sugar Plum

I got this blush at my most recent Ulta haul awhile back. This blush has a beautiful ombre effect that caught my eye while at Ulta. It starts out as a light highlight shade and goes into a deep plum shade. When I swatched this blush, it was love at first sight. This blush is absolutely gorgeous! Wearing this blush gives the skin a gorgeous glow. I mix the colors together and apply it on the apples of the cheeks, but you can also wear them separately too. What I love about this blush is that it gives the look of a highlight too, but without wearing the highlight. It is pigmented, smooth, blend-able, and easy to apply.

Swatches starting from the lightest shade and going to the darkest, the last shade is them all mixed together.

That concludes this months monthly favorites! Let me know what you loved this month! Have you tried any of these products?!?! What are you looking forward to in October? Any plans for Halloween?

Box Swap Item #3 Review Sleek Coral Blusher (Plus my Blush Organization)

Wearing blush was one of the things that I used to skip when I first started getting into makeup. Well, now that I am getting more experienced, I know the importance of blush. Since then my blush collection has grown and it has become one of my favorite makeup items (besides eye-shadows). Effie had asked me during our box swap planning what kind of blush I would like, and I told her a coral type blush. I mostly have pink toned blushes, so I was looking forward to seeing what blush Effie decided to send me. When I ripped off the wrapping paper, I was excited to see a Sleek blush, or should I say blusher.

The blusher comes in a  little black sleek package. It is a little hard to open, but over time it gets easier.

I present to you all…Coral blusher by Sleek! Such a lovely color!

Here is a picture of my swatch. The blush is very pigmented and a perfect coral color. It will be perfect for Summer! Although, I feel like it could be worn anytime of the year.

Here is a picture of me wearing this lovely Sleek blusher. I am also wearing eye-shadows from the Storm palette.

My Overall Thoughts
I really like this blusher, I think the color is gorgeous! The blusher itself is very pigmented. But, it isn’t overly pigmented where application gets messy. Sometimes, if blushes are too pigmented even a tap on the brush is too much. With this blush, I can built it up to how I want it. The color also lasts most of the day. It does fade a bit throughout the day, but most blushers do. I really am loving this blusher!

Geeze that was confusing on weather I should say blush or blusher while writing this post.

Thank you Effie for the wonderful blusher you sent me! I love it! This makes me want to check out more Sleek blushers.

Recently I decided I needed to organize my blushes a little differently, because how I had them was driving me nuts! So I went shopping at Target and Office Max and this is what I came up with. I’m not sure if I want to add anything more to it or not (such as words/stickers, etc.). Comment and let me know how you organize your blushes/bronzers/highlighters. Yes, I know I have too many blushers, but some of them are highlighters and bronzers. Also, to tell you the truth I don’t have them all up there either such as my Bh Cosmetics Floral Duos (review here) and a few others so I am thinking about getting another one. Not sure yet. Comment and let me know what you think!

With that I hope you enjoyed this post! Can you spot the Sleek blusher in the photo above 🙂 ?!?!?!

bh cosmetics: floral blush duos

Bh cosmetics is a makeup brand that has a wide variety of makeup products. They’re known for their large palettes with a huge amount of eye shadows such as the 120 color palette. Bh cosmetics is a very affordable makeup brand so it it really good for beginners, but it’s perfect for all makeup lovers.

They recently came out with new blush duos that I find to be gorgeous! There are 5 of them: iris, lilac, daisy, rose, and tulip. As you can see the packaging is colorful and very pretty. The packaging does seem sturdy too which is always a plus. There is also a nice sized mirror included with each duo.

Bh cosmetics is ordered online and these blush duos were packaged nicely with bubble wrap so they would not get broken during their travel. I paid less than 5 dollars for each of these duos but I got them on sale, but still original price is less than 10 dollars and plus bh cosmetics is always having sales.

Iris: I feel like this duo is perfect for Fall. It has a really dark shade to use as blush but also has a lighter shade that could be used as a blush or a highlighter. You could add the colors together to tone the color of the deep blush down a bit.

Rose: I feel like this is another perfect color for Fall. It is a very pretty rose color and they have the exact amount of pigmentation. The highlighter is a very pretty gold color and is also very pigmented.

Tulip: this duo comes with a very pretty blush color perfect for any time of the year. It also comes with a color to use as
a bronzer.

Lilac: This color I feel is perfect for Spring and Summer. It is a very light blush and highlighter. This one is not as pigmented as the other colors but it is super buildable.

Daisy: This duo is perfect for Spring and Summer. It has a very light buildable blush. The highlighter is very light and will add some lightness to your face. This one isn’t as pigmented as the others but it is super buildable.

Here are the duos but with the two colors mixed together. Colors go from left to right: iris, rose, tulip, lilac, and daisy.

Overall, I am quite impressed with these blush duos. They have the perfect amount of pigmentation. The packaging is adorable and very study. Also, you can’t complain about the price. Check out bhcosmetics.com for further information. These won’t be available forever so get them soon!
