Mirya’s BarkBox Review! With Video!

It has been forever since I’ve done a BarkBox review, but I felt like it was time to sit down and write one up. This BarkBox post is going to be a little different than the others because I have 3 boxes to share with you. See, I told you it was a loooooong time! I felt like it was important to show you all the items Mirya got in her boxes just in case you’re were debating on getting a BarkBox for your little ball of fluff.  That way you can see 3 boxes and decide if you feel like BarkBox is worth the money. BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs that you can get in monthly, 3 months, 6 months, or yearly durations. Also, depending on the size of dog you’re buying for, they have different BarkBoxes geared for that size of dog. That is a good thing because, imagine a chihuahua playing with the size of a toy meant for a great dane or vice versa?!? When I first signed up for BarkBox is was during Cyber Monday and there was a really good deal going on, so I went with a 3 month subscription. I forgot to cancel my subscription box so Mirya got another 3 boxes. Mirya’s last Barkbox will be in May.

Barkbox 1

When I first opened this box, I was a little disappointed with the toy options. Although, Mirya loves the white surrogate human (or so that is what they call it) a lot! Her and Maddie fight over it all the time! It has a nice little squeaker in it. This toy has gotten a lot of love and is holding up really well. The other toy, not as lucky. Mirya chewed that up that same day and I had to throw it away. I felt like that is a beginner toy for a puppy, not for a dog, like Mirya that enjoys chewing. Mirya really enjoyed the Superior Farms treats a lot, but Maddie would have nothing to do with them. She did not like the smell of them. Mirya was just happy to have a treat. They were shaped as a heart, and I think I would repurchase them for Mirya. Each BarkBox comes with a chew stick from the Barkworthies brand. They are more natural than most chew sticks. Mirya loves loves loves these! I have to take it away after awhile because she would chew it up all in one sitting. The last item is the cheese puff treats and both Mirya and Maddie loved them. All in all, this box was good, but could have been better.

Once again, some interesting toys. This months toys were horrible. Mirya pretty much chewed them up right away and they did not last longer than a couple days. She got the toy chewed up so that I could see the insides and it had this stringy material inside. The egg lasted longer than the bacon. If I remember right, the bacon sort of had a bacon type smell. Well, then no wonder she chewed it up so fast! I really liked the treats included this month. Mirya loves the organic baked biscuits. I have yet to open the other treats. Once again, this box comes with a chew by Barkworthies, a favorite of Miryas. Overall, this box was a disappointment because the toys fell apart so fast! I doubt that Mirya is the only dog that loves to chew!?! Come on BarkBox, send out better toys!

This month’s box is a little different, because I know that my blog readers love Mirya! I thought it would be fun to do a video! Bare with me, I don’t do videos ever, so I am not used to speaking with a camera or filming for that matter.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Comment down below what you thought of Mirya and her BarkBoxes! We love hearing from you!

Mirya’s 2nd BarkBox Review!!!!

I was surprised how early I got this month’s BarkBox, but I was happy to receive it as early as I did. Last month I got it a few days before Christmas. Mirya my Shiba Inu was excited too as you will find out if you keep reading this post! If you don’t know what BarkBox is, I suggest you check out my introductory post. You can find it here.

Mirya and her BarkBox

Poor Molly Kitty is jealous and wishes she had a box of her own. I did tweet BarkBox and said they should start a, “MeowBox.” They tweeted back and and sent me a photo of a cat in an empty BarkBox and said Empty BarkBox + Kitty = MeowBox. I thought that it was super cute that they tweeted me back. Molly does love her empty boxes!

Something smells good in here….

Mirya getting excited!!!

There is something good smelling in this corner….

I must get it….

“Made with 100% beef, Barkworthies bully sticks are a BarkBox subscriber favorite. Pups find them both-lasting and delicious! No chemical or preservatives are used, making them a clear winner over other chews like rawhide.”   (Description from the card included in the box) You can find more information on the company Barkworthies  by clicking here. The link for the product itself will be below when I talk about pricing.

The item that had Mirya’s nose sniffing away…

Mirya checking out the bully stick…

I think I will steal this….

…and run under the table…

…they can’t take it away from me here….muhahaha…

Mirya’s review: Loved it!

A Human’s Review: Made her have really bad gas! Or maybe it was my boyfriend..lol Jk! No she did have really bad gas that night after I gave it to her. I only let her have it for a little bit so there is a lot left.  I was weary about giving this to her, because I haven’t ever given her one. She has only had puppy food and treats. I guess she has had a taste of the human food world too. My boyfriend introduced her to string cheese and now she begs when we have human food! Naughty boyfriend!

“A chewy, delectable treat! Yumzies are grain, wheat, corn, and soy free, and an absolute favorite of BarkBox Hugo, the happy Great Dane. The soft texture is perfect for pups with sensitive teeth. we dare your dogs to resist a sniff, let alone eating the entire bag!”  (Description from the card included in the box) You can find more information on the company Nootie at their website by clicking here. The link for the product itself will be below when I talk about pricing.

Mirya’s Rewiew: Loved them! One wasn’t enough!

A Human’s Review: Love that they’re grain free, made in the USA, and healthy. Mirya ate them right up. They’re perfect for a quick small treat. They’re also great for training purposes because they can be broken easily into parts.

“Made with organic cotton, AZO-free dyes, and a lot of love for puppies and Mother Nature, Oscar the stuffing-free monkey from Simple Fido is perfect for our lil canines. The crinkle material is sure to delight them during play, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they fell asleep on Oscar’s belly during naptime.” (Description from the card included in the box) You can find more information on the company Simply Fido by clicking here. The link for the product itself will be below when I talk about pricing.

Mirya’s Review: Chomp chomp chomp! It makes a fun sound! Toss toy! Pick back up Crinkle…crinkle..crinkle!

A Human’s Review: Mirya loves the sound of this toy. It is nice because it is high quality and organic. She loves it!!

“Shaped like a wishbone with corners for chewing, ridges for teeth-cleaning, and pockets for stuffing with treats and peanut butter, the Wishy is perfect for teething pups. Dishwasher safe, bacteria resistant, and food-grade materials.” (Description from the card included in the box) You can find more information on the company Leap Pet by clicking here. The link for the product itself will be below when I talk about pricing. Just kidding!!! I looked everywhere online for this brand. You think that on their website they would say where they can be bought. Nope! Looked on their Facebook page and Twitter page and nothing. They haven’t even tweeted anything. Why have a Twitter page then? Or really a Facebook page for that matter because that one wasn’t very updated either. I also checked Petco and Petsmart and couldn’t find it. Also, every time I tried to Google it, Leap Frog came up instead.

Mirya’s Review: Good for my love of chewing!

A Human’s Review: All those ridges are good for her love of chewing! If I see her wanting to chew on something I will go find this toy for her. It is very durable and should last for a long time.

“Made with the same child-friendly, food-grade silicone as their line of toys, we love its versatility: freezer, dishwasher, and oven safe! We recommend leaving a bowl of water in the freezer overnight before an outing at the park for maximum coolness.” (Description from the card included in the box) You can find more information on the company Safemade by clicking here. The link for the product itself will be below when I talk about pricing.

Mirya’s Review: Can I chew on it? *Goes and sips water from her regular water bowl.

A Human’s Review: A nice product to include, but not that exciting. I travel a lot with my dog. My dog sometimes stays with my parents, although I usually just bring both dishes. But, the idea with the park is a really good idea. I just have to wait for it to get warm. Not sure why I would need to put it in the oven. Maybe if I was making, “puppy food bake?” Well I just was looking on their site and they have a section for recipes. How about, “Penny’s Peanut Butter & Carrot cake?” Mirya would sure love that!

Prices…Was the BarkBox worth it?

  • Leap Chew Toy (It doesn’t look like the company sells the product on the site.) I also can’t find a place that does sell it. So I am estimating the price until they respond to my email. I would say this product is $10.99. (Dog toys are expensive!)
  • Safemade Bowl $4.99 (They also have larger sizes, but this one is the smallest.)

Without the unknown price item: $32.12

With my estimated price included: $43.11

Was it worth it?

Yes, for paying $14 per box due to Cyber Monday deals I think that it was a great deal. I wish that they had better pricing like that regularly. Overall, Mirya was quite happy with her BarkBox this month. I have one more month left, then I will decide if I want to subscribe again. Comment and let me know what you thought of this post! Also I want to see other posts so comment down below if you have a review of a BarkBox that you want me to check out!

Mirya’s BarkBox Review!

So if you know me, you may already know that I am a big animal lover. I also love subscription box services. So when those two go together I am all 🙂 !!! BarkBox is a popular subscription service for dogs. I contemplated getting this for awhile but I never did until now because of the high price factor, but on Cyber Monday they had a promotion going on! I ended up signing up for a 3 month subscription for a pretty good price. I got mine for $14/month for 3 months.

Their normal pricing is:

  • $29 for 1 month
  • $24/month for 3 months
  • $19/month for 6 months

If you’re new to my blog I got a Shiba Inu puppy whom I named Mirya (Meere-Rah) October of this year. She just turned 5 months on December 7th. She joined my 3 year old cat Molly.

from Christmas time this year.

Well let us get to the review…

My initial impression was that it was very neat and I thought all the wording on the paper was cute!

Getting excited! An overview of the inside!!

This explains the products inside.

Since this photo is hard to read I will share with you the products Mirya received.

  1. Simply Fido: Simply Fido toys are much-loved by BarkBox subscribers for their adorable, interactive design. Tug, squeak, and snuggle away! They’re a favorite of Mother Earth as well, since they’re made with organic, non-toxic materials and low-impact, AZO-free dyes! (simplyfido.com)
  2. GoDog: Colorful, fuzzy, and squeaky, your pup is bound to become best friends with his new Yeti toy. We know- it’s counterintuitive for pups and mythical mountain monsters to become snuggle buddies, but if anyone can melt an ice giant’s heart, it’s probably your lil guy. (godogfun.com)
  3. Planet Dog: These Planet Dog treats are every bit as delicious and decadent as chicken pot pie itself, without any wheat, corn, or soy! Every biscuit is a feast in itself. Fun Fact: did you know pumpkin is a natural digestive aid and stomach-soother? (http://www.planetdog.com)
  4. Bistro Bites: Based in Fairfax, Virginia, Bistro Bites caters to pups on the smaller end of the size spectrum. Featuring healthy, size-appropriate goodies that are perfect for tiny mouths and itty bitty bites, these treats are wheat-free, gluten free, high in protein, and perfectly portioned. (http://www.bistro-bites.com/)
  5. Barkworthies: Made with 100% beef bladder, Barkworthies junior bully sticks are a BarkBox subscriber favorite. Pups find them both long-lasting and delicious! No chemicals or preservatives are used, making them a clear winner over other chews like rawhide. (www.barkworthies.com)

My first impression of this company was A+ when I saw all the goodies inside!

The moment Mirya got excited!

Mirya and the blue little monster guy!

Mirya and the little reindeer guy which is very fitting for December!

Mirya took this toy and went to go play under the table. She really loved it! I had to chase her to get it back so I could cut the tags off for her.

A close up of the toys! The Simply Fido dog toy on the left and the GoDog toy on the right.

A close up of the treats included.
Planet Dog treats on the left and Bistro Bites on the right.

I decided to open these treats first and save the other bag. Mirya loved these! She usually always sits and stays when I tell her to stay and grabs the treat when I tell her she can. Well with this treat she had selective hearing!

A chew treat. I haven’t given this to her yet, but I know when I do she will love it. It is kind of weird that it has beef bladder in it, but I guess dogs love it!

So as you can tell Mirya was very excited to get her first BarkBox. She gave it her paw stamp of approval and will be waiting for another BarkBox to come!

So here is what I think of it!

  • neat idea for animal lovers and subscription box lovers
  • high quality toys that will last with Mirya and her love of chewing
  • high quality treats with good ingredients that are made in the USA
  • good amount of items included (full sized treat bags and not samples sized)
  • customization for size of dog (I picked small because she is still a puppy and will be around 15 to 20 pounds full grown)
  • BarkBox donates to dogs in need

  • price (even though I got it for a reasonable price because of Cyber Monday, I think the original price is a lot!)
  • What about the cats? This isn’t really a con about this box. But I think that this company should make a MeowBox because our kitties like treats and toys too!  My cat Molly got a 3 month subscription to Pawalla during the summer which I really liked but that company has now closed down 😦 !
  • I really don’t have that many bad things to say about this box. Shipping was good, quality is there, and Mirya is happy 🙂

What Mirya and Molly got in their Christmas stockings! Mirya probably didn’t need these toys because of her BarkBox but I got these toys awhile ago. But hey Mirya likes to chew and she needs toys all over because I don’t want her picking my woodwork to chew on instead because of boredom.

That concludes the end of this post! I will do more posts on BarkBox as the boxes come! So stay tuned! Also let me know if you have tried BarkBox! Also let me know if you have tried any other pet subscription services.
