NATUREBOX: The road to healthy snacking!

NATUREBOX

What is it?
A monthly subscription box called NatureBox. Each month you get a box filled with healthy snacks that were carefully picked out and nutritionist approved. Snacking is one of the leading causes of childhood obesity according to NatureBox. Check out this link to read about their mission: http://naturebox.com/our-mission

So what makes these snacks better for you?
States right on the packaging

  • No high fructose corn syrup
  • No partially hydrogenated oils
  • no artificial sweeteners
  • No artificial flavors
  • No artificial colors
  • 0g trans fat

For the heck of it I grabbed a box of Little Debbie Oatmeal cream pies out of my cupboard and looked at the ingredient list. Not only was I amazed by how long the list was, I did find high fructose corn syrup listed.

So what does it cost per month and what does it include?
There are 3 options. Shipping is free!

  1. NatureBox Deluxe package: $19.95 (most basic option). Each box includes 5 different snacks, 1 packet each.
  2. Happy Snacker: $29.95 (save $10). Each box includes 5 different snacks, 2 packets each.
  3. Smart Snacker: $49.95 (save $30). Each box includes 5 different snacks, 4 packets each.
So do they actually taste good?

Snack #1: Garden Tomato Almonds

These were one of my favorite snacks included. I am a big almond fan and I felt like the seasoning was just the right mix. The garden tomato flavor was not overpowering at all and it defiantly added a nice touch to the taste of an almond.  They also have been lasting a long time but I have been the only one eating them so they might run out fast with a family involved. Well actually my mom taste tested them and she approves!

Snack #2:Country Ranch Sunflower Kernels

If you like country ranch and sunflower kernels then you will like these. I’m a big fan of ranch although I don’t eat sunflower kernels very often. I do occasionally eat them on salads. I do feel like they have a nice ranch taste. It has the perfect amount of flavor, the ranch isn’t too overpowering and it isn’t bland either.

 Snack #3 Lemon Tea Biscuits

So for people who like lemon and tea flavors in a butter cookie then this is the snack for you. I never drink tea because I don’t necessarily like the flavor but these biscuits have a very faint flavor of tea flavor so I actually think they taste good. They do have a good lemon flavor although the lemon isn’t overpowering. They do taste like a healthier version of a butter cookie to me but I still think they taste good.

Snack #4 Whole Wheat Blueberry Figgy Bars

I usually don’t buy fig bars or anything along those lines. But, I did like the taste of these. If you like blueberries and Fig Newton bars then this is the snack for you. These come in handy because they are individually wrapped so they can be taken on the go. Also they’re made out of whole wheat so that makes them healthy.

Snack #5: Big Island Pineapple

The only ingredient in this snack is dried pineapple. So if you’re a fan of dried fruit and pineapple then these will be a hit. This snack ran out the fastest because I love pineapple and I also felt like there weren’t very many included in the bag. These defiantly were delicious!

Conclusion:
So is it worth it?

I think it is hard to say because this is my first box, but I did like what I got in this box. These are healthy snacks so they are going to be more expensive. They all tasted pretty good. My favorites were the pineapple and the almonds. My least favorite was probably the lemon tea biscuits.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this blog entry. I am not affiliated with NatureBox at all. I just was trying to better myself and wanted to look into healthier snacking options.

Well onto my freezer to grab out the “Talenti gelato Caramel Cookie Crunch” that I just bought. Well you got to indulge sometimes. Don’t judge! Well at least it says, “all natural” and this pint will last me awhile since its super rich and creamy but super delicious!
