Day 17: My Niece Does my Makeup!

niece does my makeup

A couple weekends ago I went to visit my nieces. When I told my niece Kate that she could do my makeup, she got really excited. Extremely excited! This post will be posting on 4/17 which is also her 6th birthday. I can’t believe that she is already 6! Happy Birthday to my niece Kate! In the photos you will also see my younger niece and she is 2 years old.

I brought a few different palettes from home, but I figured that she would have fun with my Galaxy Chic palette because of all the fun colors. She really thought this palette was cool and said, “woaaah, they look just like planets!” She was very interested in Earth, Venus (the orange shade), and also Mars.

Before the makeup…

I gave Kate her choice of makeup brushes as you can see. A few times I had to remind her to use only a little bit. She kept wanting to load up the brush with tons of eye shadow.

She was all giggly during this point… 🙂

Deciding on her next color!

Kate decided on the color purple as my under the brow highlight shade.

Blending the shadows in…

She really liked the orange color and felt like I needed it above my brows. She was really concentrating and she also thought it was funny, hence the tongue sticking out.

Next we moved onto blush and we went with Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop.

Deciding on a lip gloss!

Kourtney wanted to see the makeup items too!

She went with the Nyx Butter lip gloss in Strawberry Parfait.

The Final Look

She is very proud of her work and she had a lot of fun! Although, all the fall out from the shadows sure extenuated my dark under eyes.

A close up my my shadows, blush, and lip-gloss. Does it surprise you that we’re watching Frozen in the background?!?

After cleanup…

I did have to do a little cleanup because I was planning on going into town. Although, I did wear this look around for awhile. She was extremely excited to show her mom and dad when they got home. All I did was clean up the orange, the purple on the brows, and the fall out from the under eyes. Then I added eyeliner and mascara. I think that my actual eye area looks pretty awesome for a 6 year old!

I thought that this was a really fun post to do! One day hopefully Kourtney will be able to do it as well! Comment and let me know what you think!

Happy Birthday to my adorable niece Kate! Xoxo Auntie loves you!

Day 11: April 2014 Beauty Box 5 Shades of Beauty

Time for another Beauty Box 5! This little turquoise box showed up in my mailbox on Wednesday and I of course couldn’t wait to rip into it. If you don’t know what BB5 is, it is a $12 a month subscription box that sends 5 samples of makeup, skincare, or any beauty type product. I have had 2 really bad boxes (my first 2) with tons of misses from BB5. I have been tempted to cancel, although I really did like last month’s box. With that, I had higher hopes for this box. I was thinking that it would be makeup based, since last month was mostly skincare. You can find more information on their box here.

Monthly Theme

This month’s theme is Shades of Beauty. It talks about taking time for yourself by enjoying your mornings and doing a little leisurely layering.

A Little Social Networking….

My Description Card

I really like that BB5 includes this description card. That has always been something that I haven’t liked about Ipsy.

My 5 Items

1) Bh Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Palette Retail: $18.95 16 Eyeshadows/4 Face Powders
I was really disappointed with receiving this product. Nothing against BB5 or Bh Cosmetics with sending this out, but I already received this exact trio in an previous Ipsy bag. I do have a full sized San Francisco palette from this collection and honestly I hardly ever grab for that palette. I even featured it on my Perfect Palette Tag with it being the Biggest Regret. If you’re interested in seeing some of my palette collection you can check that tag out here. Now, I don’t want you thinking I’m hating on Bh Cosmetics because I do have some of their palettes that I love such as: Galaxy Chic and Take Me to Brazil. You can find my Galaxy Chic review here. Bh Cosmetics has nice affordable makeup products and I think they’re stepping up their game with their newer palettes, especially with packaging. Also, with their pricing, I have never seen a Bh Cosmetic palette full price. They always have sales. The San Francisco palette had the best colors out of the 3 whole sized choices in my opinion, with San Francisco being the most wearable. I would say the others are more for night out wear. I do like the colors that they decided to include in this little trio palette. I would take a picture of mine, but I don’t want to open this one and I’m not sure where mine from my Ipsy bag is at the moment. I might actually include this in my Giveaway as a little extra. Comment down below if you would like me to include this.

2) Nicka K New York Hydro Lipstick Retail: $4.99 for 0.12 oz
I am not a person that does bold lips very often, so this product was a little disappointing, yet really fun at the same time. I tend to wear more lip tints and lip glosses than lipsticks, but I am always up for trying new products. I really like that this lipstick is paraben free. I applied this lipstick and at first it was very bold, but as it wore off I liked the color even better. I can’t tell you much for longevity because I tested the color out a hour or so before bed and I ended up wiping it off when I washed all my makeup off. I can tell you that it applied nicely and wasn’t patchy at all.

3) Blum Naturals All Purpose Cleansing Wipes Retail: $2.49 for 30 wipes
Once again, I think of the post that Stephanie Wright wrote about makeup wipes and hoped these didn’t have that icky chemical that she speaks of. Every time I think of makeup wipes I think of that post. Good news Effie there isn’t that chemical: phenoxyethanol. But, it does have Ethyl Alcohol in it. In case you’re interested her post is here. My first thought when I opened these wipes is that they’re very thin and cheap looking. I wasn’t impressed. They do smell good so that is a plus, but still can you see how thin that wipe is??? I used it to wipe off my lipstick swatch and it performed pretty well, but I’m just not big on makeup wipes. They’re also made in China. I do like them when wiping off my swatches off my arm, but that is about it. It is definitely travel friendly and even comes with a clip. Also, these wipes don’t seem to separate from each other meaning that when I would pull a wipe out, they would just keep coming. I ended up having to take the red top off and push some of the wipes back into the container.

4) Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer Retail: $9.99 4 oz.

I don’t know how I feel about this product because I’m not a fan of these type of self-tanners. But, I will still have to try this out. I got my sample for medium to tan skin tones. I feel like there isn’t much product included to get the whole body evenly. But, once again I’ve never used this type of product. There are 3 packets, 1 for each of the 3 days. I also feel like this color might be a little too dark for me, I am more of a light to medium skin tone. I just think it would look unnatural looking to use that shade. But, oh well! Comment and let me know if you have tried this product or have tried any other self tanners.

 5) Bonne Bell Lip Definer Retail: $3.95 One Size
Once again, this product disappoints me. I don’t use lip liners ever. I got the color luscious lilac. I also felt like when I swatch this on my arm it was hard to get a nice color. If I would use lip liners, I would rather have a more creamy one. The color is pretty so I give it that. I remember getting lip smackers from this brand as a young girl.

Overall, I thought this BB5 was a big disappointment this month. I liked that it was makeup based, but not 1 of the products included got me excited. These products are all forgetful in my mind. If I didn’t already have that little trio from Bh Cosmetics, I might be a little excited over that. The lipstick is probably my favorite product I got this month. All in all, I’m debating on if I want to cancel my Beauty Box 5. I think I will give them 1 more month, if next month’s isn’t better they will chopped off the chopping block. They may have the same fate as which Birchbox had in my life. Here is to hoping my Ipsy Glam bag is more exciting. I just looked at my Glam Room a few minutes ago (which I usually don’t do) and I didn’t get the Benefit Lollitint sample! Of course not! I never get the products that I really want from Ipsy. I will be doing a post once my Ipsy bag comes. Comment and let me know what you thought of these products? Did you think your BB5 was a disappointment or did you like the products included?

October Favorites: 2013

First off…

1) How on earth is it time for October favorites?

2) How is November almost here?

3) How is it almost 2014?

4) How is it that I am going to be 25 soon and that I have been out of high school for almost 7 years?

Anyway enough with the rant on time going by too fast.

Here are my October favorites!!!

1) Marc Jacobs Beauty: Style Eye-Con No.7 Plush Shadow in the color Scarlet

I have been using this palette a lot this month because it is Fall and October is the perfect time for metallic eye shadows, especially colors such as: orange and gold.  I think that this palette has amazing pigmentation.  Well, it should because it’s Marc Jacobs!

2.  Bh Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette

I have also been loving using this palette because I feel like it has a lot of amazing colors. It has a nice bright orange, a burgundy color, and some neutrals that are perfect for Fall. I also feel like it has really good pigmentation for the price of this palette.

3. Sigma Dare palette

Here is another monthly palette favorite! I do love eye shadow palettes because I feel like that is where I can be creative with my look. I recently got this palette this month because Sigma had them on sale.  Sigma shadows are a little powdery but this palette has good pigmentation. I love using the 2 orange shades together and I also like pairing it with the eye shadow base that I will talk about next.

4.  Sigma eye shadow base in the collection Flare and color Spy

You can’t really tell in the photo but this base has a duo-chrome finish to it. I think that it makes the eye shadows pop and make the look last longer too! This base is very creamy and applies to the eyelid easily.

5. Anna Sui: La Vie De Bohème

I went into Sephora thinking that I wanted to get the new Marc Jacobs perfume in Honey, but then I saw this perfume and I instantly needed it. The packaging is adorable for one thing! But, the smell is amazing! It smells very girly with some fruity scent with some floral in it, but there is just the right amount of sweetness in it making me want to come back for more.

Notes: Turkish Rose, Pear, Red Berries, Dragon Fruit, Magnolia, Peony, Freesia, White Wood, Skin Musk, Red Raspberries, Vanilla, Sandalwood Accord.

Style: Mysterious. Sultry. Confident.

Notes and Style information off of Sephora website.

6) Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm,en_US,pd.html#start=3

One of my trips to Lush at Mall of America I saw this up by the cash register and the lady was raving about it! So I decided to pick it up and try it. On the packaging it states, “For vanilla honey kisses.” This mostly smells of honey, but you do get a nice vanilla scent to it too! The consistency is a little weird at first and when I first tried it I wasn’t sure if I liked it. Once I got over the first layer I decided that I really liked it. It is super moisturizing and makes my lips feel amazing! I also pair this with my Bubble Gum Lush lip scrub (which should be also another October favorite but I can’t make the list go on forever)

7) Benefit Rockateur Box O’ Powder

This is my first Box O’ Powder from Benefit. As you can see I have used mine a little bit in the photo. But, I think that this blush is perfect. It is build-able so you can get the pigmentation that you want. The color is a gorgeous rose gold and I just think that the packaging is adorable! The top layer is more shimmery, but once you get past that you get the nice rose gold color that is perfect for everyday use.  I am not the biggest fan of the brush because I like to use my normal blush brush. I wish that they included more product instead of the brush.

8. Bh Cosmetics Creme Luxe Lipstick in Toasted

Got this lipstick the same time I got my Galaxy Chic palette and I just feel like this color is perfect for this time of year. Bh Cosmetics describes it as a spiced neutral bronze with a creamy finish which I have to agree with. This lipstick is pigmented and didn’t try out my lips. It does need to be reapplied throughout the day, but it is good quality for being $3.95.

9. Philosophy Purity made simple: one-step facial cleanser,en_US,pd.html

I love putting on makeup, but hate taking it off, but taking it off is very important! I always had a hard time finding a makeup remover that removes ALL my makeup. This cleanser removes my makeup, cleanses my face, and leaves it feeling hydrated. Its nice not to have to mess around with a million different products to remove makeup. After I cleanse with this I do use Tarte’s Maracuja oil.

10. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation

I really like this foundation because it is build-able and I can get the coverage that I want. I am in the color light beige. I do like Tarte products because they’re more natural and cruelty free! There is a fabric mesh screen that you can get the perfect amount of product. There is more product on the mesh right now because I tipped it over to take the picture of the back, but all you have to do is use the brush and push down a little bit to get some product out.

A little extras!

Favorite movie I saw in October: I didn’t get to see very many movies this month. I saw Prisoners and Seasons of Grey which I thought were both good. Seasons of Grey was a modern day Joseph and the Dreamcatcher story and Prisoners was a movie about on how far would you go if you child was kidnapped to get them back.

Favorite TV show this month: I have been loving, “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.” I just think that it is creative and I love the character Alice and her romance with Cyrus. I always look forward to Thursday nights!

Book I have been reading this month: Just started, “The Longest Ride” by Nicholas Sparks. I just started it so I can’t tell you much about it, but so far I like it!

Well that concludes my October monthly favorites. This is my first monthly favorites post so I was excited to write it, but I am still in shock that Halloween is tomorrow and November is around the corner which means Christmas is around the corner! Hey I just realized and got excited that November is the month of HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE!!!

My Fall Essentials!!!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the colors with the leaves changing. Although I feel like this Fall was a little different since of the weird weather this year. With every season there is of course certain essentials for each. These is going to be a post of my top 10 Fall essentials! I hope you enjoy this post and please comment and let me know what your Fall Essentials are.

1. Boots: I feel like Fall is the perfect time of year to start bringing out boots. I love wearing boots with a pair of skinny jeans. I have boots in brown, black, and grey.

2. Scarves: this is the perfect accent piece to add to any outfit to dress it up. A scarf can do lot!  It can take a very plain outfit and make it exciting.

3. Moisturizing lotion: my skin gets extremely dry starting this time of year, especially my hands, so I need an extremely moisturizing lotion. I like the thicker types of lotions for my hands for extra moisture. Some of my favorite lotions are Charity Pot and Helping Hands by Lush. Also, my favorite non scented lotion is by Vaseline and it is the deep moisture creamy formula.

4. Fall scents: who doesn’t love the smell of Fall? Some of my favorite scents from Scentsy are pumpkin roll, pumpkin marshmallow, cider mill, caramel pear crisp, apple press, autumn sunset, and honey pear cider.

Here is a picture of a few of the Scentsy waxes.

5. Pumpkins: I always have to have my Scentsy pumpkin warmer out and also I have to have some pumpkins outside.

6. Fall inspired eye shadow: the Sigma Dare palette and the Marc Jacobs Scarlet palette are both perfect for Fall. The Dare palette has a few orange eye shadows that are perfect colors and also the Marc Jacobs palette has awesome metallic inspired shadows. The orange shade and the gold shade are gorgeous Fall colors. Also the Bh Comsetics Galaxy Chic has a lot of really nice Fall colors such as: Venus, Mars, and Asteroid.

DSC00967 DSC00969 DSC00565
7. Long sleeve shirts: I love wearing long sleeves shirts during Fall because it is the perfect warmth. Although in Minnesota it is already about 30 degrees. I feel like it got cold fast but it’s not compared to what is to come.

8. Pumpkin spice everything: I love pumpkin spice, especially this time of year. They’re also always coming out with more and more products with pumpkin spice in it. I recently got some Pumpkin pie Pop-Tarts which I find mighty tasty. I recently went to the Cheesecake Factory and got pumpkin cheesecake and it was delicious! The Pumpkin spice latte is also really good. I’ve only had it at McDonalds so far. I am not really a coffee drinker but this pumpkin spice latte is delicious.

9. Favorite Fall perfumes by Taylor Swift: I don’t know why but I feel like Taylor Swift Wonderstruck perfume collection is perfect for Fall. I smell a lot of apple in Wonderstruck which apples are a big part of Fall.

Notes: Freesia, Green Tea, Apple Blossom, Raspberry, Dewberry.
Style: Sparkling. Blushing. Enchanted.

Wondersturck Enchanted

Notes: Wild Berries, Passion Fruit, Pink Poppy, Peony, Champaca Petals, White Freesia, White Musk, Vanilla, Blond Woods.

Style: Charming. Magical. Captivating.

Information on notes and style is off of Sephora website.

10. Sweater dresses: I love to wear sweater dresses with a pair of leggings or tights. I also like to add some boots and a scarf.

BONUS:  Can’t forget about candy! I mean Halloween is near!  These candy bars are made by Nestle and are delicious and are crispy, chocolaty, and full of caramel.

So that wraps up my Fall essentials for 2013. I hope that you enjoyed reading this post. I know I kind of posted it pretty late, but that’s okay I still wanted to write it! Don’t forget to comment and let me know what you thought of my Fall essentials and let me know what yours are.

Palette Review: Bh Cosmetics Galaxy Chic

When I first saw this palette online at that moment I knew I had to have it!  It is the most unique palette that I own and one of my favorite palettes and that is saying a lot because I have a lot of makeup palettes. First off Bh Cosmetics is very reasonably priced. At that time this palette was priced $14 which makes it definitely worth the money. Right now the palette is on sale and costs only $11 dollars.  Bh Cosmetics usually has the large eye shadow palettes in the generic black packaging, but I have to say Bh Cosmetics has stepped it up because their packaging for their new palettes are fun and something new! I have heard some people complain that this palette looks childish with the graphics and that they should have stuck with the generic black packaging.  Well, I don’t think so! I think this palette was a cool idea and the concept is galaxy themed, so why not make the packaging fun too!

Here is their website:

The front of the palette

The back of the packaging. States that it is animal testing free!

So are you ready to see the amazing colors included in this palette?

So this palette comes with 18 baked eye shadow colors all galaxy themed! I think the colors are amazing and they’re baked eye shadows which makes this palette super unique.

The palette also has a nice sized mirror, although it doesn’t stay up by itself.

Here are the first set of colors: Sun, Jupiter, Prometheus, Saturn, Venus, Meteor, Mercury, Mars, Asteroid.

The swatches from left to right: Sun, Jupiter, Prometheus, Saturn, Venus, Meteor, Mercury, Mars, and Asteroid.

Here are the second set of colors: Aphrodite, Milky Way, Cosmic, Comet, Earth, Neptune, Uranus, Moon, Eclipse.

The swatches from left to right: Aphrodite, Milky Way, Cosmic, Comet, Earth, Neptune, Uranus, Moon, and Eclipse.

Some of my favorite colors

  • Milky Way and Cosmic: these purple colors are gorgeous in my opinion. Work well together.
  • Mercury, Mars, Eclipse, and Asteroid: I like these colors for adding dimension to the eye look.
  • Meteor and Comet: these colors are fun to add to an eye look for an extra pop of color.

A close up of a look with using the colors: Milky Way, and Cosmic. I can’t exactly remember which color I used in the crease, but I am thinking Eclipse.

  • Price!
  • Pigmentation: the colors are super pigmented!
  • Staying power: I feel like this palette stays just as long without creasing or fading as more expensive palettes. I do use an eye primer with all eye shadows that I use.
  • Awesome range of colors!
  • Palette is sturdy.
  • You also get quite a bit of product. Net wt: 1.27 oz/35.4 gram and plus a little goes a long way!

  • Mirror doesn’t stay up, but most palette mirrors don’t and I never use them anyway.
  • There isn’t a good shade to use as a highlight shade, so I always have to grab for another palette to finish the look.
  • What about Pluto? I know they now say Pluto isn’t a planet anymore but so its the, “Galaxy Chic” palette.
  • Bh Cosmetics is only sold online and shipping is expensive in my opinion, but they do have a lot of sales and sometimes discounted shipping!

Overall I really liked this palette! I would definitely buy it again!

Anyway I hope you liked this palette review! Let me know what palettes you’re loving and what you think of this one!

Also check out my review on the Bh Cosmetics: Floral Blush Duos linked below.

The Beauty Deputy

bh cosmetics: floral blush duos

Bh cosmetics is a makeup brand that has a wide variety of makeup products. They’re known for their large palettes with a huge amount of eye shadows such as the 120 color palette. Bh cosmetics is a very affordable makeup brand so it it really good for beginners, but it’s perfect for all makeup lovers.
They recently came out with new blush duos that I find to be gorgeous! There are 5 of them: iris, lilac, daisy, rose, and tulip. As you can see the packaging is colorful and very pretty. The packaging does seem sturdy too which is always a plus. There is also a nice sized mirror included with each duo.
Bh cosmetics is ordered online and these blush duos were packaged nicely with bubble wrap so they would not get broken during their travel. I paid less than 5 dollars for each of these duos but I got them on sale, but still original price is less than 10 dollars and plus bh cosmetics is always having sales.

Iris: I feel like this duo is perfect for Fall. It has a really dark shade to use as blush but also has a lighter shade that could be used as a blush or a highlighter. You could add the colors together to tone the color of the deep blush down a bit.
Rose: I feel like this is another perfect color for Fall. It is a very pretty rose color and they have the exact amount of pigmentation. The highlighter is a very pretty gold color and is also very pigmented.

Tulip: this duo comes with a very pretty blush color perfect for any time of the year. It also comes with a color to use as
a bronzer.
Lilac: This color I feel is perfect for Spring and Summer. It is a very light blush and highlighter. This one is not as pigmented as the other colors but it is super buildable.
Daisy: This duo is perfect for Spring and Summer. It has a very light buildable blush. The highlighter is very light and will add some lightness to your face. This one isn’t as pigmented as the others but it is super buildable.
Here are the duos but with the two colors mixed together. Colors go from left to right: iris, rose, tulip, lilac, and daisy.
Overall, I am quite impressed with these blush duos. They have the perfect amount of pigmentation. The packaging is adorable and very study. Also, you can’t complain about the price. Check out for further information. These won’t be available forever so get them soon!
