February Lust/WIsh List!

Here are some products that recently came out that I find intriguing! I plan on going on a no-buy soon, but I still wanted to share these wonderful products with my amazing followers!

1) i-Divine in Garden of Eden by Sleek Cosmetics

What Sleek says, “Enhance what mother nature gave you with the striking, beautiful colours of our new Garden of Eden i-Divine palette. An earthy, nature inspired palette that echoes the hues of a stunning tropical jungle with ultra-wearable earthy browns, dusky purples and organic greens.”

I have never tried anything from Sleek makeup and I think that this palette looks amazing! I love the array of colors included in this palette! I could create a lot of lovely looks with this palette! Sleek is a very affordable makeup company, but it is not avilable in the USA. They do ship their products internationally so that is a plus. This palette is calling my name! Anybody else try any Sleek palettes? What do you think of them?

2) Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow

What Too Faced says, “Choose from three no-fail color palette blushes to take the guesswork out of creating a sweet, romantic flush. In each baked, heart shaped blush there are three individual color swatches. The baking process and multiple colors create dimensional color to provide the look of younger, brighter, healthier skin. It’s like having Hollywood lighting wherever you go.”

This blush looks gorgeous! They have 3 colors, but I like Candy Glow the best! The packaging is also adorable, and perfect for Valentine’s Day! The only problem that would make me never get this blush is that it is super expensive! Shame on you Too Faced for making the price so high!

3) Philosophy Loveswept Spray Fragrance

What Philosophy says, “loveswept is a lively, romantic fragrance created to make a woman feel irresistibly swept away. this soft floral fragrance sparkles with energy and leaves you with a soft embrace of happiness and love. get swept off your feet again and again and feel inspired to live each day with passion.”

I’ve always been intrigued by Philosophy’s fragrances. I don’t own any, but I know I want to give this one a try next time I’m at Ulta or Sephora. The packaging is adorable! Love it!

4) Anastasia Brow Powder Duo

What Sephora/Anastasia says, “Create beautiful and natural brow effects with Anastasia’s bestselling Brow Powder Duo. This lightweight, sheer to medium coverage formula was designed to be smudge-proof and comes with two shades per compact to ensure the perfect brow color.”

I’ve never used a brow powder before, but I feel like as I get older my brows are getting more sparse towards to end of the brow. Darn those brows! I have heard many good reviews on this brand. I’m not sure what color I would get. I would need to see them in person.

That concludes my post for this month! Let me know if you have tried any of these products!! I love hearing from my followers!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! My 2013 Highlights!!! Plus New Years Eve Makeup!

I just want to take the time and look back at 2013 and share a few highlights during this year.

I completed my first year as a Registered Nurse at the hospital I work at. I have learned so much working there and will continue to learn each and everyday. I think the real learning is by experience.

My RN graduation!

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary.

Moving in with my boyfriend and purchasing a house.

Going to the drive in movie theater with family and friends. I love drive in movie theaters! They’re so fun and a totally different experience then seeing a movie at a regular movie theater.

Bringing Mirya my Shiba Inu home. (I wanted a Shiba Inu ever since Nintendogs came out when I was young.)

I loved the show Dexter and yes I was upset with how they ended it this year. 😦 Stupid writers!

I didn’t get to read many books this year. I read a few but none of them stuck out in my mind. I am currently reading the new Nicholas Sparks book. I will share with you my favorite book at least.

Anyway I hope that you enjoyed this post. Don’t forget to comment down below if you have any post requests. Hope you all enjoy your New Years! I am relaxing at home right now until my boyfriend gets home from work. Hopefully that will be before the clock strikes midnight! Right now it is -17 F below (earlier it was -20 F) so I did enjoy myself a cup of hot cocoa! I did miss the marshmallows in it!  😦
Tomorrow I plan to post, “TAG: Best of 2013.” Then December Favorites soon after that!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Review

Too Faced recently came out with a new mascara called, “Better Than Sex.” Well, first off I think that it’s promising a lot by the name and also on the packaging it states, “1,944% more volume.” I don’t know about you, but I feel like that is insanely unrealistic. How can a mascara give lashes 1,944% more volume? In my opinion, that is impossible for any mascara. Some other claims that this mascara states is, “100% saw dramatic volume,” “100% saw longer lashes,” and “90% saw a dramatic look with one coat.” I wonder where they got their consumers to complete this study,  because I feel like 100% is both unrealistic. Most people use a second coat for any mascara so the 90% claim doesn’t bother me at all.

First off I will add that I bought the full sized mascara at Ulta. It was $23 dollars.  I felt that this mascara should be amazing because of the hefty price tag and the claims that this mascara stated on its packaging. I didn’t feel so bad because most high end mascaras run around that price. Also they gave me a sample of the same mascara when I checked out which was a nice little extra.

So I decided to use my full sized mascara first and put the sample away for later use.

I had a good first impression when I first held the mascara. It was the heaviest mascara tubes that I have ever held. It did feel like it was very high quality and I did like the light pink packaging.

My first thoughts when I opened it and pulled out the wand: this is the most disgusting looking mascara I’ve ever seen.

A reason why I really wanted to try this mascara apart from the good reviews I read, was the hourglass shape of the brush. I wanted something that gave me volume and could curl my lashes. I was just intrigued with the hourglass shape of the brush, it was something different.

Well onto why I thought this mascara was disgusting. When I took the wand out of the tube, I couldn’t even see the brush. The mascara was so caked around the brush, and I mean caked. There was not even seeing a single bristle of the brush.  I did not get a picture, although I wish I had taken one to show whoever is reading this post on how caked on the mascara was. It was also not smooth either, it was more clumpy. I tried getting some of it off the brush by putting it back in the tube and sliding it against the sides. That didn’t work too well and just ended up causing a mess on the top and sides of the tube. I ended up wasting a bunch of mascara by rubbing the brush in a kleenex. But, finally I could see the brush and try the mascara for the first time.

A problem was the next time I wanted to use it. I did take the wand out and put it back in a few times just to test it out. Sometimes were worse then others.

The formula is a really wet consistency, so if you like your dryer mascara I wouldn’t recommend this formula.

This mascara did smudge and get all over my under eyes which made me hate this mascara even more than I already did.

After that first incident I tried it again and it was caked on the brush (no surprise there) and I tried getting it off and it got all over the side.  When I closed the tube, the mascara oozed out of the sides. Then my whiteish cream dog ran into the mascara tube and was now sporting a black dalmatian spot. At that time I had it with that mascara and decided I needed to return it and that is just what I did. They had no problem returning it, but didn’t say anything about other people having problems with this mascara either.

I don’t remember reading reviews on this happening to other people, so maybe I got a faulty one.

So I decided to try my sample of mascara and so far I really like it! I pull out of wand and the brush is clean, full of the right amount of mascara and ready to go.  It’s not messy and I’m not wasting any product!

What I liked about this mascara?

  • very dark black
  • It does curl my lashes
  • It does give them volume, but not 1,944% more volume
  • I do like the brush, easy to use
  • One coat does the job

What could be better?

  • The full sized mascara packaging so brush isn’t completely caked with mascara!

I am wondering if anybody has tried this mascara and what did you think of it?
