Day 9: Fortune Cookie Soap: Spring Box 2014

I was really excited to receive this yummy smelling package in my mailbox. I’ve had it for awhile and am finally sitting down to do this post. I even felt like skipping this post because I got it awhile ago, but I just couldn’t. I can’t do my Fall box, my Winter box, and then skip my Spring box. Nope not happening! I think the reason that it took me so long to write it is, I just wasn’t feeling Spring yet. Even though at the time, I could have probably skipped to Summer because the Winter was terrible this year. A few of my items were actually frozen so I had to un-thaw them! Now I am definitely feeling Spring. If you don’t know what Fortune Cookie Soap is, then you should check them out. You can find their website here. FCS is a lot like Lush, Bath and Body Works, and The Body Shop. The thing that sets them apart from the others is that they send out little subscriptions boxes 4 times per year. This is my third time receiving a box from them. Four times a year FCS comes out with new product launches so this subscription service gives the subscriber a little heads up on what the new products are.

Something that I love about Fortune Cookie Soap is that they always seem to have a theme for their boxes and product launches. This new product launch theme is called, “The Garden of Good & Evil” My last soap box dealt with the movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Check out my previous FCS boxes! The Quarter Quell collection was a separate collection that I ordered from when Catching Fire was in theaters.

THE PRODUCTS (All the descriptions are from the card included in the box)

THE GOODS: Rainbows! Butterflies! Fig leaf bikinis! We’re not gonna lie, The Goods gave us a run for our money. ūüôā But we think we’ve done “The Garden of Good justice, with three fragrances that are pure, angelic, and virginal. You know, all that”good” stuff!¬†

1) Native Nectar Body Wash: Fresh cracked coconut. No machete required.

Reading the description of the product, I thought I would hate it. Good news, I really liked the scent of this body wash and I have already used this up. If I needed a body wash, I would purchase¬†this one. I’m not going to because I already have a few other body washes and soaps to use up before repurchasing any others. I didn’t really smell that much coconut in it which is a good thing because I’m usually don’t like coconut scents. This just reminds me of fresh Spring air. It moisturizes the skin surprisingly well. It doesn’t lather as well as other body washes, but I think that is a good thing because those types tend to strip the skin more.
2) Afternoon Delight OCD: Pink watermelon dancing with fresh apricots, crowned in white florals.

I loved the scent of this OCD or hand sanitizer! It is my favorite scent out of the box. I wish that this scent came in more than just this. It reminds me more of Summer because of the fresh watermelon scent. The apricots and the white florals added to the watermelon makes the scent amazing. The OCD is also not drying like normal hand sanitzers. So I just searched their site and I have good and bad news. The good news: they have this scent in pretty much every FSC soap product I could think of. The bad news: I’m on a no buy. Oh well! Another bad news: I can’t find where I put this lovely OCD.
3) Marshmallow Dreams Cuticle Butter: Lavender sprigs draped over sage and basil, livened with a splash of vodka, and a swirl of sticky, sweet marshmallow fluff.

IMG_0995 IMG_0996

I really like this product because of the consistency. It reminds me of Lemony Flutter from Lush, but just with a different scent. It is super moisturizing for the cuticles. This jar will last forever because it has a very thick formula and a little bit goes a long way. The scent is very light and refreshing. This stuff is not sticky and is honestly a perfect consistency. Once again, FCS made a great product!

THE EVILS: Yeah, Baby! It’s the strangest thing, but once we started on The Evil’s they just came naturally. Weird, huh? ūüėČ We don’t know what Evil smells like, but we’re betting it goes something like this…

1) Make it Rain Whipped Cream: Grab your umbrella! Sparkling droplets of citrus & jasmine dripping with musk, clutched by bloated cedarwood boughs.

I love FCS whipped creams. They’re super moisturizing and they’re one of my favorite products to apply on my hands. They remind me of The Body Shops body butters. The consistency of this product is light and fluffy. I do like the scent as well, but it isn’t my all time favorite scent. It reminds me of being outside and it is very earthy smelling. I would not repurchase this item in this scent, but¬†I would of course purchase this in the Afternoon Delight scent.
2) Forbidden Fruit Fortune Cookie Soap: Dusky verbena creeping over fresh blueberry skins and lemon zest.

Love these soaps! I think that these little soaps are very unique. A soap shaped like a Fortune Cookie and than a business named after them. The scent is amazing! It is very fruity and just amazing! This is my second favorite scent from the Spring collection. I have not used this yet, but I plan to sometime soon!
3) Me so Thorny Steam Me Up Scotty! Me love you long time! Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Citrus, lavender and french vanilla corrupted by a dark shadow of patchouli & sandalwood.

IMG_0992 IMG_0993

I actually threw this guy away without using it because I did not like the scent. It was way too strong. I could definitely smell the patchouli. These are a nice product to have because you use them just throwing it on the floor during a hot shower.

4) The Bloom Bloom Room Bath Fizzy: A strip club for flowers?? I wanna go! A sinfully sweet combination of Jasmine, Lilac, and Lily of the Valley darkened with throbbing musical notes of fresh peach & citrus, all swirling around poles of decadent spun sugar.

These remind of Lush’s bath bombs, but this one is much smaller. They of course also have big ones like Lush in case you were wondering. I have yet to use this, but I’m not too fond of the scent. It is sort of strong, but it isn’t a bad scent or anything. I really like the fruity notes in the scent, but I feel like the floral is a little to overpowering.

5) Venus Fly Trap Perfume Oil: Bergamot, narcaisse & musk lurk beneath delicate notes of water orchid, sparkling lemon & pink jasmine.

Sadly, I lost this little guy. I wasn’t too impressed with the packaging. I was scared I would spill it all over, so I never smelled it when I initially opened my package. Soon after that it was lost. I really wish that I could find it because I looked at some reviews online and it has a few awesome reviews!

So that concludes this Fortune Cookie Soap box post! Overall, I was quite impressed. I really love Fortune Cookie Soap and I love supporting smaller businesses. My favorite scents were the Afternoon Delight OCD and the Forbidden Fruit FCS. My least favorite was¬†the Steam me Up Scotty. I love receiving these boxes each and every season. I look forward to receiving my Summer box. They also have an adorable Easter collection going on right now, along with some Harry Potter items that were resurrected for Easter. Comment and let me know if you have tried Fortune Cookie Soap and what you’re favorite products are! I love reading your comments!

March Beauty Box 5: Spring Cleaning!

I have been getting Ipsy for months. I just posted my March Box post yesterday. I’ve also tried Birchbox, but have canceled that one awhile ago. Now I decided, why not try Beauty Box 5. There was a promo going on where the first month’s box was free so I decided I would try it out and cancel if I didn’t like it. Well, this is my third box. I haven’t gotten around to doing the other reviews from my previous boxes, and now it is already time for March’s box. This box is $12 a month and sends out beauty samples.

What Beauty Box 5 says about their boxes, “Every month we’ll send you a mix of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products and we can’t get enough of. Our secret? We share products that really work, so you’ll receive luxury, drugstore, niche, eco-conscious, and even vegan brands.” Information found on their website here.

This is how the BB5 comes, in a cute little mint green box. It looks more turquoise in the photo, but I assure you that it is mint green in real life.

This month’s theme is Spring Cleaning! Out with the old, in with the new!¬†

An overview of all the products included and also their retail prices.

I know the writing is small, so I will write the retail value and description down below.

Everything all together!

Item #1: Jane’s Pick All¬†Natural¬†Soaps
Retail: $8.00 for 5 oz
Description: Get clean without the chemicals! Made from an all-natural blend infused with herbs and flowers, these pretty soaps are handmade, so each bar has a unique pattern and relaxing scent. BB5 tip: later up and use this instead of shaving cream! #Janespick

I was excited to receive a natural soap. I love Lush products, but they’re not as natural as others. This soap only has 6 ingredients (Italian olive oil, Senegal shea butter, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, palm oil, & avocado oil) and essential oils. There are 8 kinds listed on the back, but nothing is checkmarked, so I’m unsure of what kind I got. I am also horrible at playing, “name that scent” game. *Goes and looks it up on their website to find the answer.* It look like I got Kind, which is orange, tangerine, and vanilla. It isn’t the best scent I’ve smelled, but it isn’t awful either. I mostly smell the tangerines in it, but I also smell something earthy that I’m not sure what it is. Overall, I do like that it is natural, but wish the scent was a little better.

Item #2 Tree Hut Shea Body Butter
Retail: $7.49 7 oz. (Size included was: 2 US oz. (57 g))
Description: Treat your body to the best! Extra thick and paraben free, this lotion deep conditions your skin with cocoa and organic shea butter, provides natural anti-aging properties, and puts us in the mood to party with lime and coconut extract. #treehut

When I first read this, I said, “Oh great, not coconut.” I have been turned away by products because of powerful coconut smells. Well, I have good news for you! This body butter smells amazing! It has the right amount of coconut and lime making the scent amazing! I am really impressed with it this product so far. It still does have a lot of ingredients that I don’t have a clue about, but at least it’s paraben free. I’m still annoyed at Lush for having parabens in their lotions! This body butter is super moisturizing and isn’t greasy. I hate when lotions are super greasy!!!

Item #3 Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup Base
Retail: $18.99 0.29 oz (Size included was:  0.25 oz/7 GR)
Description: Every girl deserves an all-in-one that hides imperfections and makes her makeup even better, This pretty ivory base is great when you’re low on time (or room in your purse), and serves as a concealer, illuminator, and eyeshadow primer! #bellapierreusa

I have never tried anything from this brand. I have not tried this product yet, but it seems like it will match my skin color well. I did swatch it on my hand. I think that it will work well as an eye-shadow base, but I might try as a concealer for curiosity. Also, this product is cruelty free which I love!

Item #4 H2O Plus Hand & Hail Cream
Retail: $15.00 6 oz (Size included was:30 ml or 1 oz)
Description: Proven to soften even the roughest hands, this award-winning lotion is lightweight, non-greasy, and restores your skin with silk proteins, Vitamin E, and marine botanicals. A definite must-have for any time of the year. #h2oplus.

This is a white lotion that scent reminds me of the ocean. The scent is pretty strong and some might not like it, but it doesn’t bother me. Most likely because it includes marine botanicals. The cream isn’t very creamy and sort of hard to blend into the hands. Although, it does seem moisturizing, but not as well as the Tree Hut Body Butter. I will have to try this on my nails and see how I like using it there.

Item #5 Swissco Dual-Sided Facial Pad
Retail: $2.00 One Size
Description: Achieving softer skin and smaller pores is as easy as exfoliating a few times a week! Just add your favorite cleanser to the pad, gently buff that pretty face, and kiss lackluster skin goodbye! #swisscolic.

I have yet to try this facial pad. It seems like a nice dual sided pad, with one side being a soft terry, and the other exfoliates with natural loofah. This thing with an item like this is, make sure to replace it often, because items like these can grow germs. I will definitely give it a try and see if I get softer skin.

So that concludes the 5 items that I got.

I thought it would be interesting to share a photo of both my January and February boxes since I never got the post done.

January: I was really disappointed with my first box. The lip balm was super coconutty that I ended up throwing that one away. My dog got a hold of the mirror and chewed it up, so that went into the garbage, which I am not sad about. I have yet to try the other items which included: a lotion, a top coat, a body wash, and exfoliating gloves.

February: This month’s box was a little better, but not great. It came with some nail polishes, which in my opinion felt a little cheap. I may be basing that off the fact that they couldn’t even get the sticker on the bottle properly. I have yet to try this nail polish. I am not a fan of shampoo and condiotner packets so that was a miss for me. Also, it came with a body wash sample from Aveeno which was a good item to get. Last item was a mascara, which I have received before in a previous Ipsy bag. I have yet to try that mascara.

After my February BB5, I decided that I would give them 2 more months (March & April) and decide if I want to cancel.
So what are my thoughts on March’s BB5?
This has been the best box so far by a lot! I am really loving the, Tree Hut Body Butter, and I am excited to try the other products. Overall, if I said in February that I was to give BB5 1 more month instead of 2, I would still see what April’s box has to offer. I am hoping that next month box is more based off of makeup and not skincare. Comment and let me know if you get Beauty Box 5 and what your thoughts are. Also, I want to know if you have tried any of the products listed.

LUSH Valentine’s Day Collection Review

If you’ve been following me you know that I did a recent Lush UK Haul and I got a few of the Valentine’s Day items!

All descriptions are from the UK site because it was an international order. See links below.

ITEM #1 Prince Charming Shower Gel

What Lush says, “With marshmallow root, Fair Trade vanilla and fresh pomegranate juice, Prince Charming will sweep you off your feet and carry you off into the sunset, leaving your skin silky soft and smelling lovely ‚Äď the fragrance is made using a beautiful blend of grapefruit, sandalwood and geranium oils.” UK site here. US site here.¬†

This is definitely a different scent from Lush. ¬†I kind of find a lot of Lush scents to be interesting if that makes sense. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. I do like this scent, it just isn’t my favorite. I more smell the grapefruit and the ¬†pomegranate and don’t really smell that much marshmallow. It is pretty strong in the bottle, but once applied to the skin it has a nice more subtly scent.

  • Made with fresh ingredients such as: grapefruit oil, sandalwood oil, geranium oil, and almond oil.
  • Little goes a long way so even though it is a tiny bottle it should last for awhile.
  • Nice lather!

  • Expensive for a tiny bottle
  • Limited Edition
  • Parabens!!!! Not sure why Lush puts parabens in their products! Naughty Lush!!!
  • Has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it!

Overall Thoughts

I liked it, but I don’t feel the need to rush out and buy more even though it is limited edition. I am also annoyed with Lush that they have parabens in their body washes!

IMG_0841 IMG_0842

ITEM #2 The Kiss Lip Balm

What Lush says,¬†A delightful, whipped up gloss made from luxurious and protective butters including Fair Trade shea and cupua√ßu. This preservative free tinted lip gloss gives a touch of colour to the lips. It‚Äôs so easy to apply you won‚Äôt even need a mirror!” UK site here. US site here.

This was probably the item that I most wanted to get out of the Valentine’s Day Collection. I think that the packaging is adorable. ¬†¬†I also wanted to try something from their lip product line that would have some color. I have tried the Honey Trap lip balm and I really like that one.

  • The scent is sweet so it is perfect for Valentine’s Day!
  • Great texture: light and airy
  • Love the scent
  • Not sticky
  • Nice pink color with a hint of shimmer

  • Limited Edition
  • Packaging: I wish that it was in a tube or something different than a tub. I don’t like applying the lip product with my fingers or holding up the tin up to my lips.
  • Lasting power quite isn’t there! I wish I could invent a lip gloss or lip balm that lasted all day!

Overall Thoughts

I really like this lip product and I do hope that they bring it back next year. I like the nice feel that it gives my lips. I also really love the scent.

Gives a nice pink color to the lips!

ITEM #3 Close To You Massage Bar

What Lush says, “This smooshable massage bar is beautifully fragranced with Fair Trade vanilla absolute. Inspired by the humble Jammie Dodger biscuit ‚Äď as you peek through the heart shaped hole on top of bar you can see into the sumptuous white fondant centre.” UK site here. US site here.¬†

So one time I was in a Lush store and the girl was very interesting in trying to sell me a massage bar. Well I never wanted one, until I decided that my boyfriend should give me a back massage and if I have this product well then he has too! You can use this product for more than a back massage, but that it my main use for it.

  • Smells amazing! Reminds me of the scent from the Snow Fairy shower gel from Christmas time
  • Super moisturizing!
  • Fresh ingredients such as: organic shea butter, almond oil, and many more.
  • Melts easily with touching skin temperature
  • Adorable!
  • Now my boyfriend gives me back massages!
  • My back smelled amazing for hours afterwards!

  • Expensive which is normal for Lush
  • Limited Edition
  • Turns the skin slightly pink

Overall Thoughts

I really do like this massage bar. Love the scent. I wish that it wasn’t limited edition, but honestly the massage bar will last awhile. I’ve used it once and I’ve barely made a dent in it.

ITEM #4 Neon Love Soap

What Lush says, “This is a unique soap with an uplifting, fruity fragrance. Bergamot and rosewood work together to create a rich scent, whilst fresh figs, passion fruit juice and soya yoghurt nourish and soften the skin. ” UK site here. US site here.¬†

So with a Lush haul I of course have to get some soap! So I decided to pick this one up!

  • Good scent! Smells very fruity. I mostly smell passion fruit.
  • Moisturizing on the skin
  • Has natural ingredients such as: fresh passion fruit, coconut oil, and a few others.
  • Lathers well and makes light pink lather.

  • My piece didn’t have a heart in it like how they showed it online. ūüė¶
  • Expensive
  • You guessed it! Limited Edition!

Overall Thoughts

I did like this soap, but I’m not going to run out and buy more of it even though it is limited edition. It has a nice scent, but it isn’t my favorite.

All in all I am glad that I got my chance to get the Valentine’s Day Collection because it’s going fast! I do think that Lush did a good job with creating this collection. My favorite items were the lip balm and the massage bar. Make sure you check it out while you still can! Comment and let me know if you’ve tried any Lush products and what is your favorite!

Huge LUSH UK Haul

If you’re a huge Lush lover like I am and live in the United States, you may know that Lush products aren’t cheap! I heard about people from the United States ordering from the UK site because it was cheaper. Well I decided to check it out! I figured that it probably wouldn’t be that much cheaper because then I would have to pay for international shipping. Well it doesn’t hurt to check it out…right?!? Another reason I decided to order from Lush UK was because the US site was out of Let the Good Times Roll which is almost a crime in my mind. I even tweeted them with my sadness. Then I started wondering about ordering from the UK site again and that is just what I did. I decided well if I’m going to order I might as well make it a good sized order. ¬†I also knew that I wanted to get a lot of products so it was a good timing.

Steps on ordering from Lush UK

  1. Check to make sure your bank/credit card allows international purchases
  2. Go to their UK website here
  3. Set up an account
  4. Add products to cart that your heart desires
  5. Add the same items to the Lush USA site here
  6. Compare the prices by using a currency converter using Google. I typed in British pounds to US dollars into Google and it brought it right up. (fyi: currency exchange rates change everyday)
  7. Decide which is better pricing and if it is worth it
  8. Click check out
  9. Enter address (Change country to United States. There was no place for State so I put my City and State under City)
  10. Enter Zip Code
  11. Add a message for samples! (I added that I would like samples of shampoo and conditioner for oily hair and that I wanted to try the Karma Kreme)
  12. Review and Submit
  13. Wait until a wonderful Lush package arrives at your door step.

So how did ordering go for me?

It was super easy! I ordered on a Friday and I got my package the following Wednesday! That is crazy fast for international shipping!!! My package also had tracking so that was nice. I was really surprised when it came so fast!

The Packaging!

See I told you it was a huge Lush haul!

Yay packed by Dale!

In Lush Heaven! The aroma of this box was amazing!!!

It’s here!

All the packing! An overflowing Target bag! At least they know how to package their products! Thanks Lush!!!

In Lush Heaven!!! Sadly one of my bubble bars was broken, but hey it had a long trip!

The samples!!! The I love Juicy shampoo spilled a little out of the sides, but nothing too serious!

So was it worth it?

After this post you may be commenting, “you need LA or Lush Anonymous,” but like I said if I’m paying international shipping I might as well make it worthwhile. I do think that it was worth it because even with international shipping (which was a lot), it was about 3o dollars cheaper! In not speaking of shipping it was $67.03 cheaper! That is astronomical! ¬†I think that is crazy! For example the Dream Cream in the US is $26.95 for 8.4 oz!!! Since I got it from Lush UK it was ¬£9.38! That comes out to be $15.31 for the same size!! So yes it was worth it!!! So I won’t be buying anything from Lush for awhile because well I’m all stocked up! Until next time I run out of Let the Good Times Roll! ūüėõ

With that I hope you enjoyed this post!!! Comment and let me know if you have tried any of these products! I will be having a lot of happy baths in my future!

Mini Lush Haul!!!

Back in October when I went to Mall of America, (it is 2.5 hours away from where I live and the nearest Lush) I got these products from Lush. I just finally got around to posting them!

So here is what I got….

Snow Fairy Shower Gel

Oh how we’ve missed lathering up in those fluffy pink bubbles! We crave her bubblegum and sweet vanilla fragrance all year, and just can’t imagine the holidays without her. Or famous fairy contains a smattering of biodegradable shimmering luster (or as we like to call it, Fairy Dust), so she won’t harm the earth one little bit! Sparkly, pink and candy scented – what more could we ask for?! (From Lush website:¬†,en_US,pd.html?start=5)

This shower gel smells amazing! It smells almost exactly like the bubblegum lip scrub so if you like that you will like this shower gel. I splurged and got the big bottle because I really like the scent. I have used this shower gel a few times and it does smell pretty strong in the bottle but gives the skin a nice subtly scent afterwards. It is also moisturizing and lathers really well meaning the bottle will last me a long time.

I think that the packaging is very fitting for the type of shower gel that it is.

Made fresh!

The Christmas Penguin

Isn’t he adorable? Inspired by the smallest penguins in the world (found on Philip Island, Australia), we’ve invented our very own tiny penguin for bubbly bathtime fun. Crumble yours under running water to create bubbly orange flower and bergamot glaciers Рlovers of our Olive Branch shower gel will recognize Christmas Penguin’s fresh, cheery fragrance. Popping in the tub with this penguin is perfect way to relax after a long stressful day! (From Lush website:,en_US,pd.html#q=penguin&start=3)

Yes, I did get this bubble bar because it was a penguin. He is just so adorable! I have not used this bubble bar yet because he is just too cute to use! I really do like the scent. I have tried the Olive Branch shower gel and I did like that scent too. It is just a very nice clean and neat scent. I read that it makes quite a bit of luscious bubbles.

DSC00963 DSC00962

Angel’s Delight Soap

When you’re need of some holiday cheer, ask the angels to help raise your spirits. Our best-selling Angel‚Äôs Delight soap returns with the same merry tangerine and orange scent we all love. Inspired by the popular English custard of the same name, our uplifting sudser is just as sweet and fruity as the beloved dessert. If you’re lucky enough to encounter a whole round of Angel’s Delight in store, you’re sure to be mesmerized by its beautiful gold moon “frame”. LUSH co-founders Mark and Mo Constantine happened upon a similar gilded frame in an antique shop while on an inspiration trip to Venice, but we think they may have surpassed the original design with this beautiful soap! (From Lush website:¬†,en_US,pd.html#start=7)

I was really intrigued by the look of this soap in it’s full form and I decided I had to check it out.

download (1)

Isn’t that the coolest design of soap EVER!?! Of course there was a ton of it missing by the time I saw it at Lush, but I still did get a good idea.

This is what my piece looked like! I did actually use up this soap already. I loved it! I will most likely buy it again next time I go to a Lush store. The scent reminds me of fruit punch. It isn’t an overpowering scent, I feel like it has the right amount of strength. This bar soap did moisturize my skin and did lather really well. I just wish that it could lather like that without them using Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. But, I still love Lush!

DSC00951 DSC00953

Anyway that ends my mini haul! Let me know if you have tried these products and let me know what you think of them! Also let me know if you want a full review on any of the products. I love reading your comments! ūüôā

Fortune Cookie Soap Winter Soap Box 2013: The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Collection based off of, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Fortune Cookie Soap has done it again! They have come out with another new and exciting collection. This is just in time for the holidays and it is a collection that is based off of, “The Nightmare Before Christmas!” I know you must be thinking that I must be affiliated with this company because I just reviewed a bunch of products from, “The Quarter Quell Collection” or The Hunger Games. I am just letting you know that I am not. I just really like this company and I was really excited for that movie which I thought was amazing by the way! I will link my review down below regarding that collection if you’re interested in checking it out. The reason I got these products so fast is that I am part of the subscription service that this company has and items from this collection were included in the Winter Soap Box. These products are on sale now. I am honestly not that big of a fan of, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Although this box makes me want to re watch that movie because I hardly remember much about it.

A little bit about the subscription service?

FCS has 4 major product launches 4 times a year and with the Soap Box subscription service I am able to get a sneak peek on the products before the actual release. Also, I can find out what I like because the products come in smaller sizes and then order the product if I decide I want to. Check the above link for prices and more information.

The link to see the entire collection:

An overview of the box! The aroma while opening this box was amazing! A mixture of chocolate, chai, bubblegum, and peppermint, and much more!

Item #1¬†“Jack” Bath Fizzy

“If we had a nickle for every time we called each other a “Jack Head” while we were making this fizzy, we’d be rich! Ha! With notes of iced lemon and airy menthol, warmed by woodland moss and smashed cranberries.”

Sadly mine came damaged, but I did send them out an email today. I am not too concerned about it because I know FCS has awesome customer service. But, I did post a photo of what this product should look like. Mine was broken into a million little pieces. Sad day! Oh well! I can still smell that it smells good. It isn’t my favorite smell of them all, because I’m not a big fan of the airy menthol part. But, overall as a bath fizzy I think this would be relaxing.

What he should have look liked!

¬†Item #2¬†“Sally” Fortune Cookie Soap

“For our favorite rag doll, we wanted to create a fragrance that captures her spirit. Fresh breezes, fluttering white cotton and dry crackling leaves, held together by twine.”¬†

I thought that this fortune cookie soap was adorable and creative. It does smell very fresh! Like fresh clothes that were set out to dry outside. I really do like the smell.

Item #3 “Oogie Boogie” OCD Hand Sanitizer

“MY BUGS!!! MY BUUUUUUGS! COME BAAAAAAAAACK!!! A mix of smushed winter berries against backdrop of sweet muted cinnamon.”

I think this hand sanitizer smells amazing! Whats not to love? Winter berries and cinnamon!

Kind of looks like there is a little surprise in there!

Item #4 “Lock, Shock, and Barrell” Bath Melt

“Everyone’e favorite tick-or-treaters! Which will land on tour doorstep? Literally. Frosted woods of pine and spruce, warmed with hints of spice.”

It does smell really woodsy as if I was taking a walk in the woods. It’s not my favorite scent, but if you like woodsy type scents then you would like this one.

Item #5 “Sandy Claws” Exfoliating Body Butter

“‘Dis beech will rough you up- IN A GOOD WAY! They call him Sandy CLAWS for a reason. So anyway, it smells like chocolate and chai and yumminess. Mhm.”¬†

I do like this scent. I am a fan of chai and of course I love chocolate. I also love exfoliating body butters since of their moisturizing factor so I’m excited to try this product.

Item #6 “Zero” Dry Shampoo

“Not play favorites, but .. um.. kind of maybe the best fragrance in the entire box. Yeah. Ghostly billows of sweet peppermint, with just the faintest whisper of pumpkin. “

This does smell amazing! I love the smell of both pumpkin and peppermint. I think it has a nice amount of scent to the dry shampoo without it being overpowering. I did also try this because I had a hard time smelling it in the container so I decided to try it on my hair and it does a good job of absorbing oils.

Item #7 “Holiday Worlds” Whipped Cream Body Butter

“Halloween! Christmas! Thanksgiving! Easter! Four festive fragrances to capture the magic of each season. Which Holiday Town will you land in?”

I think that this smells amazing! Another one of my favorite fragrances. I would probably buy this in a full size because I do love FCS body butters. It smells sweet like sugar cookies and bubblegum. I decided to look on their website and this is what is said regarding this scent: Buttery cutout cookie with frosting sprinkles, powdered sugar and a thick smear of sticky bubblegum. I was pretty close at describing the scent!

Item #8 “What’s this?” Roll on Perfume

“Our second annual mystery fragrance contest! No hints!”

They’re having a contest and a $50 FCS gift card is up for grabs! Well then I guess I’m not going to tell you what I think the scent is! All I will tell you is that I think it smells amazing!

Overall, I love receiving my FCS boxes 4 times a year! I was excited to receive this one and I look forward to the next one! My favorite scents included: the roll on perfume, the body butter, and the hand sanitizer. I also did like the exfoliating body butter and the dry shampoo. I wasn’t a big fan of bath melt. But, overall I think that Fortune Cookie Soap did a really good job on this collection. They also have many other products that are part of this collection so make sure to check it out and remember these products aren’t available for very long!

Well until next time…

Fortune Cookie Soap: Quarter Quell Collection (Hunger Games)

So with the new Hunger Games Catching Fire movie coming out Thursday night I decided I better share the wonderful products I got that were inspired by the movie. Well at least it is coming out Thursday night for me, but previews say Friday. Call me crazy but I am going to the first show at my theater so it is going to be jammed packed. I would have waited and went during the weekend, but it is my weekend to work and then I would have to wait until after Thanksgiving to go. I did read the book series awhile back before the first movie came to theater. I am excited to see the next installment of this series. This movie has created a lot of popular beauty and skincare items out in the industry too. There is a makeup collection by Cover Girl, although I don’t plan on getting anything for it. ¬†But, this post is about a company called, “Fortune Cookie Soap.” It is a bath and body brand that makes numerous items. I would compare it to Lush. But, the thing with this brand is that they have a subscription box service and they make a lot of themed products: such as, ¬†“The Quarter Quell.” I decided to order a few products from this collection.

Overview of the products. I do wish the packaging was different, but it isn’t too bad!

Now I am going to list the items that I got. Underneath each of the titles and price I am going to list the description from website (also in italics).

Item #1 “The Pearl” Body Wash¬†$11.99 8 oz.

A sweet promise of things to come.

French vanilla & African vanilla with a gentle rain of sweet flowers and a whisper of musk.

I think that this smells amazing. If you love the scent of fresh vanilla then you will love this scent. I have tried this product and it leaves a nice subtly scent on the skin that is not overpowering at all. So far I really like this body wash. It is pretty runny so be careful not to spill any.

Item #2 “Nightlock” Sugarscrub $12.99

Sheesh!! It always comes back to the berries!!! Muddled raspberries & pomegranate smushed into blueberries.

Chock full of three different kinds of exfoliating berry seeds. Trust us, you won’t regret the decision to use¬†this¬†Nightlock!!¬†

I really like this scrub. It smells amazing! It smells like berries which is a scent that I love! There is also exfoliating berry seeds which adds a nice little touch. I used this scrub on my hands. I am a nurse and I get super dry skin so this will be nice to get rid of all those dead skin cells.

Item #3 “Tick Tock” Whipped Cream $10.99

Beware, the clock is ticking… Twisted medley of waterlily & peppermint sprigs livened by hints of citrus zests.¬†Dripping moss and swirling ozonic ocean air against a backdrop of delicate spring flowers, like the soft whisper of butterfly wings.

I really like this whipped cream body lotion. It has a thicker consistency so it is super moisturizing. I also do like the scent. I can smell flowers with some citrus, but they’re very subtle. It also has hints of Musk. I also would describe the scent as a fresh clean laundered type smell.

Item #4 “Golden Cornucopia” Bar Soap $7.99

Your heart is racing, your palms are sweating and you feel like you’re gonna pass out. Let’s face it, the golden cornucopia was never a good time. The thought of having to make that split second decision to go for it and get supplies, or make a run for it without anything – makes me break out in a cold sweat! The cornucopia represents strength, speed, fear and blood.¬† In contrast, we made this bar soap a sweet, warm funnel cake scent with top notes of buttery cream, milky caramelized sugar, and powdery sweet confectioner‚Äôs sugar topping a sweet bread pastry. Makes me feel better ūüôā

This is my favorite product that I got from this collection. It smells amazing! It also looks amazing! It is in the shape of a cornucopia which fits, “Hunger Games Catching Fire” really well. It does smell very sweet kind of like how it is described above.

Item #5 “Poisonous Fog” Steam Me up Scotty! $5.99

A poisonous, curling vapor of dusky breezes, with just a whisper of wind-blown leaves, heliotrope, woods of cedar and ¬†sandalwood, dark musk creeping with just a hint of roasted marshmallows, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla. Be careful, this scent gets deep under your skin… Soooo, what exactly is a “Steam Me Up Scotty!” and how do you use it? Basically, it’s a¬†heavily¬†scented¬†fizzy designed for an aromatherapy type shower experience.¬†You¬†choose your mood.

Directions: For maximum results take a¬†hot, steamy shower. Simply unwrap & toss the shower fizzy on the floor to the back of your shower, out of the stream of water. You want it to slowly fizz during your shower, rather than quickly run down your drain. It’s like your personal little aromatherapy room, the steamier the better!¬†

I thought that this was really cool. Usually it is all about bath bombs, but it is nice that they have something for the shower too! I really do like the scent. It is pretty strong in the package and right away in the shower, but after that is it a very nice amount of scent. This scent smells very woodsy, but it is a good woodsy.

Item #6 “Golden Boy” Bath Bomb $5.99

Ahhh Finnick, Finnick, Finnick. We love you. We love your muscles, your loyalty, your heart, your sense of humor aaaannnnd your muscles. (ooops! did I already say that?) Oh, and your sugar cubes.A deliciously light and creamy scent of fluffy white whipped cream, warmed with the sweetness of dark vanilla.

With this came 8 mini fizzy sugar cubes and they do smell divine! It smells like cake in my opinion because of the vanilla scent and the whipped cream. I have not tried this product yet. It wasn’t necessarily what I was thinking that they would look like. They look more golden and much better in the picture than they do in real life. It just looks like a sugar cube in real life. ¬†

Item #7 “Marry Me?” Bath Bomb $7.99

Just like Katniss Рas this unique bath bomb twirls and fizzes out, it reveals a majestic, and strong Mocking Jay shaped soap inside. Brilliant, right?! A complex and unique scent with sweet bergamot, citron & fresh pear. This is one of those tricky scents that you catch different notes every time you smell it! A fresh, gentle breeze crowned with delicate violets sitting on a delicate base of soft sandalwood.

I have not tried this product yet, but I am excited to try it out! I will post a video or picture on it later if you want me to. Comment down below if you would like to see the Mocking Jay shaped soap inside. When I opened this I wasn’t that excited about it because it looks like a giant sugar cube in the shape of a diamond and the picture on the website made it look so much better. But, I did not realize until writing this post that there would be the Mocking Jay soap inside so now I am glad that I got this product. It does smell really good. It smells sweet and woodsy with some floral notes. ¬†

Item #8 “Silver Parachute” Shampoo Bar $8.99

Salty…..gritty…..ocean. For this collection we went with bold, intense fragrances. This ocean scent is unlike anything we’ve ever used before. It’s tide pools and cold rocky beaches strewn with driftwood. A breath of fresh, clean salty ozone. Notes of watery greens are surrounded by swirling white musk and the gentlest touch of vetiver.

I have tried Lush shampoo bars before and I really like them. They’re perfect for traveling. This shampoo bar smells like the ocean. I really do like the scent. It’s not too overpowering. It will be interesting to try this shampoo bar out. Hopefully it will give me luscious golden locks like the girls in hair care commercials (umm yeah right to the models actually using the shampoo being advertised)!

Item # 8 “Nuts & Volts” Fortune Cookie Soap $3.79

Quite unexpectedly…Nuts and Volts found a way into our hearts.¬†

Bright verbena & Sicilian lemon, crowned with jasmine, and creamy helitrope, darkened with amber, white musk, & precious woods.

First off, where is the “Quarter Quell” packaging sticker. This sticker is just generic which makes me sad because what if I wanted to give this one away as a gift. They wouldn’t even know what collection this soap belongs to. This is probably my least favorite scent. I still like it, but it isn’t my favorite. It is a scent that is hard to describe but it smells woodsy and musky. I also can smell the amber notes. It also comes with a fortune inside stating, “Stupid people are dangerous.” That is an interesting fortune to get, but I guess that it is true.

My overall thoughts…

What I like about this collection? I felt like they had a wide variety of products. As you can see in the photo above, there were many items that I did not get.

What could have been better? I did like the stickers that they added to the packaging, but I wish that all the bath bombs, soaps, etc came in something other than a white sleeve. I guess I’m not really sure what they could have done instead, but when I tried opening it either the sticker ripped or the white bag ripped. But, that isn’t too big of an issue because that just means it’s bath time!

Bonus: The Wizarding Collection

Also in this package I got these 2 items from the, “Wizard Collection.” They had this promo (I think I saw it on Facebook) where certain discontinued items could be added to the cart and it lasted 48 hours, these items became, well, “undead,” in FCS’s own words. My point is that they always have really cool collections. Before the, “Quarter Quell” collection they had a “Once Upon a Time.”¬†Coming soon! Unboxing and review of the Winter Soap Box: The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m excited!!!

That concludes this post. I hope you enjoyed reading about my addiction to FCS and their awesome collections. Also, let me know what you think of this collection. Also, are you a fan of the “Hunger Games” movies?

Brand Review: Indigo Wild

Indigo Wild¬†is a company that makes numerous products: soaps, laundry soap, hand soap, lotions, candles and many more. The main thing about this company that I really like is that they use natural ingredients that I don’t need to be a scientist to pronounce or understand.

Their slogan is,¬†“Any more natural and you’d be naked.”¬†

They’re also a cruelty free company which is always a plus for me!

Indigo Wild takes pride in that fact that their ingredients are natural and easily pronounced. If you look on the ingredient list on the products it says, “What’s inside? All-natural ingredients you can pronounce.”

Just for curiosity go find a regular body lotion or soap and look at the ingredient list. Do you know what most of the ingredients are? Does the list go on and on?

So did you freak out? Are you ready to try something natural?

One of the most popular items that Indigo Wild sells is the¬†Zum Bar¬†which is their version of the soap bar. One of the key ingredients listed is¬†goat’s milk.¬†I know what you’re thinking because I know when I was first introduced to this brand by my amazing cousin Amber I thought, “eeew goat’s milk.” But, hey would you rather slather your body with soap made with goat’s milk and essential oils or one of those unnatural soaps/body washes full of sulfates, detergents, phthalates, and parabens?

This is what Indigo Wild says about why they use goat’s milk:¬†

“Goat’s milk offers an alphabet soup of vitamins.¬†With its restorative vitamins, minerals and proteins, goat’s milk soap simply maintains the balance. And no worries for people who have allergies to usual dairy products or sensitive skin.”

Zum bar scents include: almond, tangerine-orange, anise-lavender, cinnamon, citrus-mint, clove-mint, coffee-almond, confetti, dragon’s blood, eucalyptus, frankincense-lavender, frankincense-patchouli, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lavender, lemon & patchouli, lavender- mint, lavender-rosemary, lemongrass, lime-basil, mint, oatmeal-lavender, patchouli, patchouli-mint, patchouli-orange, rosemary, rosemary-mint, sandalwood-citrus, sea salt,¬†tangerine-orange, and tea-tree citrus. There many be other scents but these are the ones listed in the 2013 catalog.

These products can be bought off of and are also found in a lot of grocery stores. Go to their website and click on the store locator button to see where these products are found near you. You can also go to their website and request a catalog.

So now that you have received a overview of the company here are some of the products that I ordered online and also bought at a grocery store.

Item #1 Zum bar soap

3 oz. $5.75

Scent #1 Almond

“Please you body’s sugar cravings with this bar’s candy-like sweetness and nutty undertones. Though tempting to eat, we recommend you share the wealth with your skin. The ultimate confection to help you complexion.” (Quote from the Indigo Wild catalog)¬†

  • Smells amazing
  • Very moisturizing
  • Does have the lather action that most people love without all those icky sulfates
  • Has a cool design
  • I do wish that it lasted longer but I did have it sitting in my shower so I probably wasted a lot of product, but if I got a soap dish container that would help. I will have to invest in one.

Scent #2: Mint¬†(I used this before I took a picture…oops)¬†

“Pure. Simple. Spearmint. Does your body what chewing gum does for your mouth…makes you extra kissable. Starts out soft, but wait for it..has a tingly finish.” (Quote from the Indigo Wild catalog)¬†

  • Smells true to spearmint
  • Does have a cool tingly feeling on skin
  • very moisturizing
  • Once again has a cool design.

Item #2 Zum Face: gentle facial cleanser

4 fl. oz $10.00

Zum Face Cleanser:¬†Saponified oils of certified organic coconut, certified organic olive, castor, and certified organic jojoba, pure essential oils, tocopherol (vitamin e), sodium borate and vegetable glycerin.”¬†

  • has a good lather so makes the face feel clean without harsh¬†ingredients
  • Smells true to lemon and geranium which I think smells really good
  • Has a pump for easy assess¬†
  • Only need a little amount
  • Have had less pimples since using product

  • Price
  • Size (4fl. oz isn’t very much for a facial cleanser but since you use only a little bit it lasts a long time)

Item #3 Zum Rub: Almond

2.5 oz $9.50

Rub your skin with the deepest, soothing immersion humanly possible. Reaching these super subsurface depths requires intense concentrations of certified organic sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, beeswax, certified organic shea butter, goats milk, pure essential oils and vitamin E.”¬†

  • I must have a thing for the almond scent because I got this product in almond which I have to say smells amazing!
  • The uses listed on the packaging
    • chapped skin
    • cracked heels
    • cuticles
    • lips
    • healing scars
    • tattoos
    • poison¬†ivy
    • sunburns
    • make-up removal
    • bikini wax
    • frizzies
  • The main use that I have used it for is:¬†make-up removal. It works amazing! It gets off my mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and also makes my eyelashes super soft. The first time I tried it for makeup removal I didn’t think it worked very well. But, if you take your finger and kinda make a few indents in the product it breaks up the top layer and it works much better.

Item #4 Zum Clean: Aromatherapy laundry soap

64 fl. oz $21.00

Scents: eucalyptus citrus, frankincense & myrrh, lavender, patchouli, and sweet orange.

Tired of the chemical detergent spin cycle? Clean up the way you clean your skivvies with a handmade laundry soap. We’re talking a nudist colony of coconut oil soap for cleaning and 100% pure essential oils for an all-natural scent. Plus baking soda to remove stains and smells. You won’t find these dirty words: detergents, optical brighteners, chlorine, parabens, phosphates, petrochemicals or sulfates. It’s low-sudsing, super concentrated and great for high efficiency machines. Washes 32 loads in top-loading washing machines and 64 loads in high-efficiency machines.”

  • I ordered 2 scents: patchouli and lavender. I have only opened my Patchouli one so far and have done numerous loads of laundry.
  • Love the scent: smells very earthy.
  • The scent does transfer to your clothes after washing/drying and does linger on clothing. I was on a trip to South Dakata and brought my pillow with. My mom was wondering why my pillow smelled so good. Well it was because I washed it in Patchouli laundry soap.
  • I no longer have to use dryer sheets
  • Clothes have no static
  • My only complaint about this is the cap: its very hard to see the lines to see where you measure the amount of soap needed.¬†

Item #5: Zum body shea butter & meadowfoam seed oil body lotion in almond

¬†Dandelion and red clover infusion in water, shea butter derived from certified organic nuts, meadowfoam seed oil, aloe vera extract, emulsifying wax, vegetable glycerin, certified organic jojoba oil, certified organic sunflower oil, extracts of carrot, hibiscus flower, echinacea, elder flower, angelica, sweet almond, avocado, sea kelp, ginseng, aloe vera gel, basil, coltsfoot and calendula, extracts of rosemary, marshmallow and chamomile, pure essential oils, hydrolyzed jojoba esters, potassium sorbate, passionflower oil, mango butter, oat bran extract, tocopherol (vitamin e), xanthan gum and carbomer.”¬†

Zum Kiss has a smackerel of certified organic ingredients for smooth, soft, moisturized lips: certified organic shea butter, certified organize grapeseed oil, certified organic beeswax, certified organic honey and pure essential oils. • This has got the be the most amazing smooth feeling lip balm I have ever used. Its beyond words on how good these feel on the lips.¬†
  • Very¬†moisturizing
  • They smell amazing and are true to scent
  • Good price for a lip balm

¬†I ordered a few more products besides the 5 items I shared but I haven’t been able to use them well enough to give my opinion on them.¬†

Indigo Wild also has these¬†products¬†on their website that can only be bought online. Its called Zum Lab. These are products that can be tried out and then after indigo Wild¬†receives¬†feedback on these items from customers they will decide if it will get “a real Zum label.” Products include: under eye butter, shaving soap (I did try the shaving soap which I did not like because it was too hard to see what was shaven and what wasn’t ), facial mist, shampoo bar, bug rub, and many more.¬†

¬†Overall, I really do like the brand Indigo Wild and I will definitely be buying more products from them. I just wish that they were sold at more locations. I live in a smaller town so I have to usually order online and shipping isn’t the cheapest. I am not affiliated with Indigo Wild in any way. These are my own personal opinion of these products. I also would like to take a minute to say please be respectively and not post any negative remarks on my blog. Thank you for reading this and I hope that this blog entry made you want to go out and try Indigo Wild.¬†
