Mothers Day Gift Ideas Blog Hop: May 2014

Today is the first day of May! That means it is the month that Mother’s Day is part of! I am very big on family, and my mom is one of the most important people to me! Without her, I would not be who I am today! I would not have had the success that I have had in my life, if it wasn’t for my family. I belong to this lovely group on Facebook called, “The Beauty and Fashion Blog Community.” I really love being part of this community, and being able to interact with other beauty bloggers. Each month we do something called a blog hop, and this month we decided on, “Mothers Day Gift Ideas.” Quite a few ideas come to mind when I think of this, but all in all, it depends on the person that you’re buying for and their interests. Hope you enjoy!

1) Origami Owl Necklace

If you don’t know what Origami Owl is yet, then I suggest that you check it out! It is a jewelry company where you can make lockets. This company was started by a young girl named Bella, and the companies’ motto is this…YOU TELL STORIES WITH WORDS….we tell stories with jewelry. I think that is why I love this company so much. I love the personalization part of it. There are many different shapes and colors of lockets. Once you pick your locket out, you can personalize it with plates, dangles, and tons of different charms. You can find their website here.

It would be a fun gift for any jewelry loving mother to receive. It would also add an extra touch by adding birthstones of children, grandchildren, etc to the locket.  I thought that the locket down below was super cute for someone who loves gardening. Both the photos below were found on the Origami Owl Living Locket Facebook group. You can find that group here.

Just some more examples of some adorable charms that are available!

Photo: While you enjoy your family this weekend, why not spend some time with your brothers and sisters picking out charms that Mom would love for Mother's Day!

2) Scentsy Fragrance Candle Wax & Warmers

I used to sell Scentsy. Actually I put in my last order yesterday. I still do love the company, it was just getting to be too much with selling it. I am not a very good business woman! Since I sold Scentsy for awhile, my mom and grandma both have a good amount of warmers. If you don’t know what Scentsy is, then you have been living under a rock. No! Just kidding! Or am I? But, Scentsy is a company that sells warmers that melt scented wax with the use of a light-bulb or a heating element.

You can find a copy of the catalog here.

Here is a picture of a couple of my favorite warmers. The owl also comes in a plug in!

3) Jamberry Nails

I recently discovered this company! I have yet to try these nail wraps, but I still wanted to include them in this post. Moms are super busy, so they need something long lasting and quick. These come in so many amazing designs! Pictures found from their website here.

4) Fun at the Salon!

A fun thing for a busy mom would be a gift certificate to enjoy a massage or a manicure/pedicure. You could also treat her to a facial!

5) Shutterfly

You can find their website here.

Moms love personalized things, well at least my mom does. Shutterfly is an amazing site! I love it! You can make many personalized items on it. My favorite item to make is the photo book. I guarantee that most moms will love if you give them a photo book. I really love the customized path for photo books because I like making each and every page exactly how I want. Two years ago, I made my mom a phone case for her Iphone and gave it to her for Christmas. There are also mugs, mouse pads, pillows, table runners, plates, and a ton more items that you could personalize for your special mum or grandma! Overall, Shutterfly is just amazing!

6) Fortune Cookie Soap & Lush Mother’s Day Collections

If you’re buying for a mom that loves skincare and taking baths, then I recommend both of these companies! Fortune Cookie Soap has a new Mother’s Day Collection! Click the links underneath the photos to see more information of both companies!

7) Willow Tree Figurines

If you’re buying something for someone who loves figurines, I recommend Willow Tree! I have quite a few of them and I love them as well! My mom and grandmas both love them too! You can get Willow Trees at Hallmark and a few other stores. I usually get mine from Hallmark. You can find more information here.

Tis’ the Season! My Christmas Decorations!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the Christmas decor! I just wanted to post some photos. Well maybe a lot of photos! Hope you enjoy!

My Christmas Tree!

As you can tell Mirya found some presents to rip open. Well I guess it was dumb of me to wrap some of them already! I’m sure my nieces will get a kick out of that considering it’s their presents that she tore into. As I am writing this I can I hear tearing of paper. Few seconds later…Phew! False alarm!

The stockings! One for my boyfriend, one for Mirya my puppy, one for Molly my cat, and of course one for me!

My Willow Tree Nativity Set

My Scentsy Silouhette wrap in Nativity! Of course it has the scent Christmas Cottage in it!

Another Scentsy warmer of mine! The cute adorable little snowman!

I just thought that this snowman was adorable and it’s kind of sad too because he is melting. I got this snowman at a craft fair and I just thought it was unique. In back is another Scentsy warmer in the Lampshade collection. You may not know this about me and you may be wondering why I have so many warmers. Well I do sell these warmers and scents…just in case you’re wondering.

I got this a few years ago and I thought it was just adorable!

I love penguins so I thought this was super cute! I got this at that same craft fair so it is homemade which makes it so much more special.

Just had to throw this picture in from my Elsa Inspired Makeup look because I think Mirya looks just adorable!

A little arrangement my mom and grandma made for me! They sell these type of arrangements at floral shops for big $$ this time of year and I got mine for free! Thanks mom and grandma! You’re the best!

Just a photo showing one of the first snowfalls! Well one of the first big snowfalls!

Picture of that tree lit up.

This was a picture pre-snow. I got this from my nieces, brother, and sister in law as a house warming gift. My niece picked it out! I think he is adorable! Although he did get buried in the snow during the snowfall! Don’t worry he got shoveled out!

We also have Christmas lights on our house! The multi-colored icicle lights! Let’s just say I am in the Christmas Spirit!

I almost forgot about these!!!

My wreath! Well it’s missing it’s bow, but that will be on there soon! Hopefully!

My vase!

A few more decorations!

An adorable little snowman!

A water globe with a cardinal.

My candy jar! You can see Mirya running around in the background!

Mirya caught red-handed with Molly’s cardinal toy! Lol! Molly isn’t a fan of it!

Mirya may be half cat because she loves her cat toys way more than her dog toys!

Anyway I hope you enjoyed that post! Some may think I have way too many Christmas decorations but I love Christmas time! Let me know how you decorate for Christmas. Also comment down below on a favorite Christmas tradition of yours! Or a favorite food item!

TAG Wintry Wednesday (A few days late…)

The Little Scottish Corner recently did this tag and said she tagged anybody that wanted to do this tag. Well I am always a fan of tags so I decided that I would give it a try even if it is not Wednesday.

This tag reminds me of the new Disney movie Frozen which I loved by the way!

Anyway onto the questions and answers! Hope you enjoy!

1. What’s your favorite holiday movie?
This is a hard one because I love a lot of the holiday movies. But, one that I love the most is probably “The Christmas Carol.” Except the Mickey version is my favorite because every year my dad would pop it into the VCR and press play. So that is favorite memory of mine too.

2. What are your favorites Christmas colors?
Red and Green! I do love Christmas colors and I basically just love Christmas!

3. Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up for Christmas?
When I was a kid I would always wear PJs and my brothers and I would wake up early and go wake up our parents because Santa came. There was no time for dressing up. But, I did dress up when my family celebrated with the extended family. My cousin and I always had to have matching Christmas dresses. Now that I am older I usually dress up a little bit, but not as dressed up as I got when I was little.

4. If you could only buy one person a present this Christmas, who would it be?
That would be so hard. But, I think I would buy for my grandma. She is such a hard worker and she always works so hard to cook a wonderful meal at Christmas time and it’s always fun to watch her open her gifts from us during Christmas.

5. Do You Open Your Presents Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?
When I was little our parents would let us open maybe 1 gift on Christmas Eve. We would usually celebrate with my dad’s side on Christmas Eve so we would open those gifts. Then on Christmas we would open gifts from Santa. We would always celebrate Christmas the weekend before or sometimes after depending on where it landed. Now it doesn’t matter. I work as a nurse so I work holidays so we open gifts whenever the family can get together. We still do get together with my mom’s side during the weekend.

6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?
I’ve assembled one with one of those kits that you can buy, but I’ve never made one from scratch.

7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?
I don’t really get Christmas breaks anymore because I am in the working field and well hospitals are open 24/7. I do work Christmas Eve this year but I have Christmas Day off. But, when I was in school or college I loved Christmas break. I am big on spending time with family so that was important to me. I just liked relaxing and enjoying my time off.

8. Any Christmas Wishes?
That the weather cooperates and that all family members make it safe and sound. One Christmas a freeway closed due to bad weather so some family couldn’t come. Also that it isn’t freezing cold out this Christmas so I can go ice skating with my family. Last night it was -15 degrees (Fahrenheit) and right now it is -6 and on Thursday they say it will be 15 degrees. Well that is a heat wave!

9. Favorite Christmas Smell?
Cinnamon! I have this scent from Scentsy called Christmas Cottage and it smells divine! A Description from my catalog states, “A cozy, inviting blend of Valencia oranges, raspberries, cloves, and spices.

10. Favorite Christmas Meal or Treat?
This is a hard to choose. But, I love my grandma’s stuffing. It is the best stuffing I’ve ever tried!!! It’s so delicious! I also have a sweet tooth so I do love Christmas cookies!

I tag you, you, and then you! Actually I tag anybody that wants to do this post. Let me know if you do so I can give it a read!

My Fall Essentials!!!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the colors with the leaves changing. Although I feel like this Fall was a little different since of the weird weather this year. With every season there is of course certain essentials for each. These is going to be a post of my top 10 Fall essentials! I hope you enjoy this post and please comment and let me know what your Fall Essentials are.

1. Boots: I feel like Fall is the perfect time of year to start bringing out boots. I love wearing boots with a pair of skinny jeans. I have boots in brown, black, and grey.

2. Scarves: this is the perfect accent piece to add to any outfit to dress it up. A scarf can do lot!  It can take a very plain outfit and make it exciting.

3. Moisturizing lotion: my skin gets extremely dry starting this time of year, especially my hands, so I need an extremely moisturizing lotion. I like the thicker types of lotions for my hands for extra moisture. Some of my favorite lotions are Charity Pot and Helping Hands by Lush. Also, my favorite non scented lotion is by Vaseline and it is the deep moisture creamy formula.

4. Fall scents: who doesn’t love the smell of Fall? Some of my favorite scents from Scentsy are pumpkin roll, pumpkin marshmallow, cider mill, caramel pear crisp, apple press, autumn sunset, and honey pear cider.

Here is a picture of a few of the Scentsy waxes.

5. Pumpkins: I always have to have my Scentsy pumpkin warmer out and also I have to have some pumpkins outside.

6. Fall inspired eye shadow: the Sigma Dare palette and the Marc Jacobs Scarlet palette are both perfect for Fall. The Dare palette has a few orange eye shadows that are perfect colors and also the Marc Jacobs palette has awesome metallic inspired shadows. The orange shade and the gold shade are gorgeous Fall colors. Also the Bh Comsetics Galaxy Chic has a lot of really nice Fall colors such as: Venus, Mars, and Asteroid.

7. Long sleeve shirts: I love wearing long sleeves shirts during Fall because it is the perfect warmth. Although in Minnesota it is already about 30 degrees. I feel like it got cold fast but it’s not compared to what is to come.

8. Pumpkin spice everything: I love pumpkin spice, especially this time of year. They’re also always coming out with more and more products with pumpkin spice in it. I recently got some Pumpkin pie Pop-Tarts which I find mighty tasty. I recently went to the Cheesecake Factory and got pumpkin cheesecake and it was delicious! The Pumpkin spice latte is also really good. I’ve only had it at McDonalds so far. I am not really a coffee drinker but this pumpkin spice latte is delicious.

BONUS:  Can’t forget about candy! I mean Halloween is near!  These candy bars are made by Nestle and are delicious and are crispy, chocolaty, and full of caramel.
