Getting Back into Blogging and some Beauty Hauls

This year has been super busy for me that I have been very neglectful to my blog. My neglectfulness started once I started a new job last year. I was used to the hospital with doing 12 hour shifts and then I could work on blogging during my days off as needed. With having a full time job that involved a lot of computer charting, I just didn’t have motivation to come home and stare at a computer. That job just left me feeling defeated and I needed something new. I started a new job with all normal hours about 2 months ago! I am a nurse at a clinic now. Now, I feel like I am less stressed out and that I can get back into blogging little by little. I don’t want to go months at a time without a post ever again! So why not start out with showing you all my latest hauls. I got these items over the past 5 to 6 months or so. Some of them I got recently, but hey we don’t need to explain ourselves right?!?…we are all beauty lovers here.

Metamorphosis Quad by Coffee Break with Dani

Coffee Break with Dani is one of my most watched YouTubers. She has such a sweet bubbly personality in her videos. She got to team up with ColourPop Cosmetics and make this amazing quad of shadows. She put a ton of thought into the meaning and the shades of this quad. This is Limited Edition-so it won’t  be around forever. I plan on doing a review on ColourPop shadows sometime in the future.

Too Faced Haul

Too Faced came out with a lot of new products recently. It feels like yesterday these products came out, but it has been a couple months already. I really wanted to try their new foundation Born This Way-I sadly got the wrong shade (note to self never buy foundation online). It looks too yellow on me, but I do like the formula. The palette is gorgeous! I will do a review on it coming up soon so stay tuned for that one! The kabuki brush had amazing reviews so I wanted to try it out. So far I am loving it! It is perfect for travel which makes sense since it is retractable. They also came out with new blushes. They’re so adorable with the heart shape and the cute bunnies inside. I will do a review on that blush as well.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette and Eye Brush

Lately I have been really impressed by Kat Von D and her makeup line. I’ve heard rave reviews on this palette so I picked it up to see what all the fuss was about. It has a nice array of neutral matte shades. Although, I sometimes like to add a shimmery ColourPop shadow on top when I use this palette because well…this girl loves her shimmer. I also got the eye brush which is super soft and perfect for travel.

The Body Shop Body Butters

These are my holy grail body butters that I use for moisturizing my body. I got these during a trip to Mall of America. These are super moisturizing and smell amazing! I decided on a variety of them-I think I only have 2-3 left of these. Ignore my ugly carpet in the picture.

IMG_20150708_234546446

Some Ulta Goodies!

Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands as well so I decided to pick up their new Smoky palette about a month and a half ago. I also got the Lorac Contour Pro Palette at that time as well. Recently, Too Faced came out the Star Dust Vegas Nay palette. This is my most recent purchase! This palette is simply gorgeous!

20150904_180808

Click the link below for a photo on Instagram of a few more items I got. I got the Stila mascara and primer, and an eyeliner. I also picked up some The Balm products from Kohls.

That concludes this huge makeup haul! Like I said this was over 5-6 months. Yes, it is still a lot, but that comes with the territory of being a makeup enthusiastic and beauty blogger. It feels good to be back to blogging! I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what recent beauty purchases you have made and if you have tried any of the products that I talked about in this post!

Lush Liquid Lipstick Review: Perspective

When I went to Mall of America’s Lush store, I decided to check out their makeup line. Since Lush prices are high, I only walked out with 1 thing from their makeup line, although I would have liked to try some more as well. Once I decided that I was going to get a liquid lipstick, I swatched most of the shades in store. I decided on the shade Perspective, which is a dusky rose. I find it to be a gorgeous shade!

IMG_20140723_183101388

What Lush says about Perspective, “This natural, dusky rose lipstick is perfect for everyday use and looks beautiful on a variety of skin tones. The rose wax and jojoba oil base ensure the lipstick goes on smooth and keeps lips hydrated all day long. We’ve heard fans calling this their all-in-one, as this creamy lipstick can also be used as a blush for a rosy glow. Wear Perspective when you need a new way of regarding a problem or situation; now you can see clearly.” More information found here.

Lush Cosmetics is all about making fresh products with fresh ingredients. That is something that I love about the company. Since their products are fresh, they leave a lot of preservatives out of it. With that being said, their products expire faster. Although, they do still have to add some otherwise it would need to be put into a refrigerator. This product is vegan. I also love that they stand against animal testing! That is a big pro for the animal lover in me.

IMG_20140723_184754066

Ingredients (Information also found in link above)

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia cerifera), Rose Wax (Rosa damascena), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Iron Oxides, D&C Red No. 27 Aluminium Lake, Titanium Dioxide

IMG_20140723_184744049

Packaging

The packaging is a lot different than any other products like this that I have tried. Although, I honestly haven’t tried that many liquid lipsticks. I think that the packaging is easy to use. The applicator is a dofa applicator so application is pretty easy. There is no chance of spilling with how they produced the package as well.

Swatches & on the Lips

I really fell in love with this shade when I swatched it in store because it is a natural wearable rosey pink. I am not big on bold lips so I think this shade is perfect for me.

IMG_20140723_183201861

Here are some pictures of me wearing the shade. Also, in case you’re wondering what is on my eyes, it is the one and only Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. Love that palette!

IMG_20140723_183826243

Here is another picture with the lipstick and I am also sporting my new sunglasses!

IMG_20140726_121023

Formula

The formula is really pigmented and creamy. The consistency is hard to describe because it feels a little grainy or gritty when rubbing the lips together right after application. I actually think that it feels nice. It is very hard to describe. I recommend going into a Lush and trying it out for yourself. It does have an average wear time, so nothing too special. Of course, it does need to be reapplied after eating. I feel like when lipsticks last all day, they most likely have nasty ingredients in them. How else would they last that long?

Pros

  • Non-sticky
  • Fragrance free
  • Pigmented
  • Handmade
  • Natural shade
  • Creamy
  • Easy to apply

Cons

  • Price
  • May not be visible on all lip shades
  • Average wear time

Overall, I think that it was fun to try a Lush liquid lipstick. It is good to think that it is more natural than a lot of other lip products out on the market. Just think about it…I wonder how much lipstick or lip product a person ingests throughout their lifetime? Might as well be more natural…right?!? I do think that I would repurchase it again once I use it up. Although, I think it might take me awhile because I don’t wear it everyday. I have a year before it expires. *Goes and applies it to lips*

Sigma Beauty Smoke Screen Palette Review

eye shadow Sigma Beauty is well known for its makeup brushes, but not as commonly known for their makeup line in the beauty world. Although, I think that Sigma Beauty is getting more and more into the makeup world with them bringing out more and more palettes, blushes, lip-glosses, and even lately gel eyeliners. I was quite impressed with their previous palette which is called, Warm Neutrals,  so when they came out with this Smoke Screen palette, I knew I had to pick it up. If you’re interested on my review of the Warm Neutrals palette you can find that here. Both palettes are still available online and at Sigma Beauty. Sigma Beauty’s flagship store is at Mall of America so I always have to stop in whenever I am at MOA.

What Sigma Beauty says about this palette, “The Sigma Beauty Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette features 12 different shades and finishes with cool undertones, perfect that give the ability to transform your look from desk to dancing. Each shade is represented by sophisticated neutrals to bold brights offset by dark, dusty hues. Paraben-free.” More information found here

Price: $39.00

PACKAGING

The Smoke Screen palette comes with the same look and feel as the Warm Neutrals palette. It comes with an outer white sleeve that I already threw away. I don’t see a point in keeping it.

IMG_1304

Here is the back of the outer sleeve showing the colors shades, the ingredients, and amount of product included.

IMG_1305

The actual palette itself is nice and sturdy. I really like the sleek look of it. The Sigma logo makes it look nice and high quality. The palette does have a magnetic closure.

IMG_1306

This is what the back of the palette looks like. It shows the shades, amount of product, and that it was made in China.

IMG_1312

It comes with a nice sized mirror, but the mirror does not stay up by itself.

IMG_1307

Overall, I am quite impressed with the packaging. I do like that they went with the same packaging look as with the Warm Neutrals palette.

THE EYE SHADOWS

This palette has an amazing array of colors and finishes. I do not have any other palettes quite like this. This palette is perfect for creating smokey eye looks. They also included some fun shades like the lavender shade and of course the amazing blue shade. Nobody says that smokey eyes can’t be fun! 😀 Each shadow is imprinted with Sigma Beauty which I think is cool, but over time that disappears.

IMG_1646

FORMULA & MY THOUGHTS I love this palette because I find it to be very unique. It has quite a few different shades that I have never seen in other palettes. Some of my favorites shades include: nebula, opulent, svelte, and rave. Nebula is pretty amazing and I loved using it in my look down below. Also, I think that Svelte is super unique with its olive tones. The formula is just like the Warm Neutrals one. I feel like they have improved their formula quite a bit compared to some previous palettes of theirs. The shadows are very easy to work with. They’re very pigmented, blendable, and soft. They’re aren’t powdery which is nice, but some of the glittery shades have a little fall-out. Pros

  • Highly pigmented
  • Easy to work with
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Unique and fun shades
  • Paraben free!

Cons

  • Price, although I don’t personally think it is all that bad compared to other palettes out on the market.
  • Mirror doesn’t stand up
  • Glittery shades have some fall-out
  • Not available in a lot of stores so hard to find unless purchasing online.

With that, I hope that you enjoyed this post! Do you have this palette? What do you think of it? Comment and let me know if you enjoy my palette reviews and what palette review you would like to see next. Hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend!

MALL OF AMERICA

IMG_20140612_213835215
Usually I don’t get to go to MOA very often, but I have already been to MOA twice this year. The opportunity arised and my mom and I decided to go kind of last minute. This time was a lot more exciting because it was during the work week and less busy, unlike my last visit (which was on a Saturday).

This is what part of Nickelodeon Universe looks like.

I got a lot of goodies! Comment and let me know if you want to see some OOTD posts!

bareMinerals
I actually ordered this online when bareMinerals had a 20% sale. I really wanted to try this Bareskin serum foundation. I got mine in the shade bare porcelain which is the lightest shade. I was actually surprised I was the lightest shade, but I was matched at Ulta (they were out of my color at the time) and it does match.

IKEA
The main reason from coming down to the cities was a trip to Ikea. Awhile back on my dad’s way back from the cities he made a little stop for me. I was going insane with my organization and knew he was driving by so I got the Alex 9 drawer. It is gorgeous! But, the top drawer had no holes in the piece. 😦 Well, I thought about drilling my own holes, but I figured I would just have to make a trip to Ikea sometime. My Ikea Alex now looks lovely with a new drawer.

GLO-MINERALS
My local salon just got this new makeup and skincare line called Glo-Minerals. Awhile back, I got invited to this little class/presentation presented by someone from Glo-Minerals. I have never tried anything from this brand, but I decided why not?!? Time for some The Beauty Deputy research! I’m glad that I went because this brand sounds awesome. It is made of 100% minerals, it is cruelty free, and so much more! I did not get all the items listed below all at this one makeup party. Later on, I decided to pick up the brush cleaner and the cherry balm. The lip-glosses were free with purchase. Also, I got the dual foundation brush from my mom because she decided that she didn’t want it.

Huge Haul! How I’m Helping the Economy!!

I saw a post on a lovely blog that I follow that did a haul awhile back and stated she is helping the economy. Well, I am going to go with her motto and say that I’m helping the economy as well. This is my last haul before going on my no buy! That will be starting next month. I have collected these items over the past few months. I just haven’t taken the time to do this post quite yet. Also, recently I went to Mall of America so I thought I would add that haul onto the one over the past few months. Yes, I know it is a pretty big haul. I will be going on my no buy in April. I will be writing a post about that in case you’re wondering.

The Balm

Not too long ago The Balm had a 50% sale for charity, I of course had to pick some things up since The Balm is one of my favorite brands. This is also the sale that I got the Meet Matt(e) Nude palette to send in my box swap with Stephanie Wright.

Cindy Lou Manizer Highlighter, Shimer, Shadow

Sephora

I got this palette soon after it came out which was a month or so ago. I just really loved the colors and thought they were very Spring-like. I also saw a Youtube video from Kat Von D herself that made me want it. A review will be coming so stay tuned!

Ulta

Ulta ❤ !!! I was presently surprised that I saw The Balm Shampoo and Conditioner, because usually The Balm is only available online or in their San Francisco store. They said that they just started carrying it, but they don’t carry their makeup. I also wanted to check out the Real Technique brushes and check out what all the rave was about. I needed a brush for applying highlighter. Also, Nyx butter glosses are amazeballs!

Nyx Butter Glosses in Angel Food Cake & Strawberry Parfait

Ulta recently had this promo going on when I got the items below: spend $20 and get a free It’s a 10. It worked out perfectly because I really wanted to get more of this product to help with my flyaways and help my damaged hair. I also got some Pacifica items because I am in love with these lip tints. They hardly ever have them in stock at Target, so I decided to take advantage of the buy 1, get 1 half off. I gave one to my mom that is not pictured which is Guava Berry. I also sent one of these in my box swap with Effie.

The Body Shop
The Body Shop was doing an online 40% sale so I decided to check out this brand. These items also made me want to check out the store in my Mall of America Haul.

Mango Soap
Hemp Foot Protector
Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream
Strawberry Body Butter

Clinque at Herbergers

My mom recently picked up this blush and she didn’t like the color on herself so she gifted it to me. I will be doing a review on this lovely blush sometime in the future.

Target

I got these items over some time, but recently Target put a lot of their Pixi products on major clearance. That palette I got is originally $28, but was on clearance for $8. Same thing with the eyeliner and the blush. The Pacifica items were on clearance as well. I got that perfume for less than $5. It smells amazing! I also wanted to try out a Color Elixir from Maybelline.

Pixi Eye Glow Cube Eyeshadow Palette
Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Iridescent Iris

MALL OF AMERICA

Once to twice a year my family makes the 2.5 hour trip to Mall of America. I had a list of stores that I knew that I wanted to stop at. We went on a Saturday and that was probably a bad idea! There were so many people there, it was crazy! We had to go to the highest level of the parking ramp to even find a parking spot, usually we park in the same general area whenever we go. I heard that Mall of America was doing a huge expansion. That is crazy because it is already huge!

Sigma
MOA has a Sigma store. Sigma is one of my favorite makeup brands and I knew I wanted to get a new foundation brush. So far I’m loving the palette I got. Review will be coming!

Lush

When I went into Lush, it was a different experience than I’ve normally had. Usually they’re very eager to help, but sadly nobody asked me if I needed help. I felt very uncomfortable in the shop for some reason, but it was probably because it was busy. I really wanted to get more of my Let The Good Times Roll face scrub and they were sold out! Surprise! (Seems to be sold out many times online, I’m getting low on my current one from my UK haul). Also, they were also sold out of the Cupcake fresh face mask! (They were sold out of this last few times I’ve been there). So instead of getting what I really needed, I got the items below instead.

Honey I Washed The Kids Soap
Brazed Honey Fresh Face Wash
Charity Pot Lotion
Space Girl Bath Bomb

IMG_1274

The Body Shop
I’ve never been inside a “The Body Shop” store so I decided to check it out. They had a promo going on with these sets. I was impressed with my Strawberry mini butter body so I wanted to check out their other scents.

Mango Scrub
Mango Body Butter
Mango Body Wash

IMG_1278

Sephora

Of course, I had to stop at Sephora! The Mall of America’s Sephora is a makeup, skincare, and perfume heaven. They have quite a bit more brands and merchandise than the Sephora I normally go to. It was fun looking around, but I decided to get something from Tarte.

Tarte Amazonian Clay  12-hour Full Coverage Foundation
Glam Glow YouthMud Masque (Used 100 of my Sephora points for this little sample)

Also, before the end of this month I plan on ordering this palette. Love the color of the year!!!!

Sephora and Pantone Universe The Eye: Radiant Femme Artistry Set.  Photo from the Sephora site found here

SEPHORA+PANTONE UNIVERSE - The Eye: Radiant Femme Artistry Set

Look for my no buy post coming up! I will be doing it starting from April and going until July. Not sure quite yet how long, but I want to be realistic. Comment on recommendations. Remember, I am a big makeup lover and skincare enthusiast, so this is hard for any makeup beauty blogger/enthusiast.  I know that this is something that I need to do.

So that marks the end of this haul! Yes, I know it was a lot! But, some of this stuff goes back to Christmas or so. Hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you have any of these products and what you think! I love hearing your comments! Also, stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway!!!

Mini Lush Haul!!!

Back in October when I went to Mall of America, (it is 2.5 hours away from where I live and the nearest Lush) I got these products from Lush. I just finally got around to posting them!

So here is what I got….

Snow Fairy Shower Gel

Oh how we’ve missed lathering up in those fluffy pink bubbles! We crave her bubblegum and sweet vanilla fragrance all year, and just can’t imagine the holidays without her. Or famous fairy contains a smattering of biodegradable shimmering luster (or as we like to call it, Fairy Dust), so she won’t harm the earth one little bit! Sparkly, pink and candy scented – what more could we ask for?! (From Lush website: http://www.lushusa.com/Snow-Fairy/9999902427,en_US,pd.html?start=5)

This shower gel smells amazing! It smells almost exactly like the bubblegum lip scrub so if you like that you will like this shower gel. I splurged and got the big bottle because I really like the scent. I have used this shower gel a few times and it does smell pretty strong in the bottle but gives the skin a nice subtly scent afterwards. It is also moisturizing and lathers really well meaning the bottle will last me a long time.

DSC00954

I think that the packaging is very fitting for the type of shower gel that it is.

DSC00956

Made fresh!

The Christmas Penguin

Isn’t he adorable? Inspired by the smallest penguins in the world (found on Philip Island, Australia), we’ve invented our very own tiny penguin for bubbly bathtime fun. Crumble yours under running water to create bubbly orange flower and bergamot glaciers – lovers of our Olive Branch shower gel will recognize Christmas Penguin’s fresh, cheery fragrance. Popping in the tub with this penguin is perfect way to relax after a long stressful day! (From Lush website: http://www.lushusa.com/The-Christmas-Penguin/03899,en_US,pd.html#q=penguin&start=3)

Yes, I did get this bubble bar because it was a penguin. He is just so adorable! I have not used this bubble bar yet because he is just too cute to use! I really do like the scent. I have tried the Olive Branch shower gel and I did like that scent too. It is just a very nice clean and neat scent. I read that it makes quite a bit of luscious bubbles.

Angel’s Delight Soap

When you’re need of some holiday cheer, ask the angels to help raise your spirits. Our best-selling Angel’s Delight soap returns with the same merry tangerine and orange scent we all love. Inspired by the popular English custard of the same name, our uplifting sudser is just as sweet and fruity as the beloved dessert. If you’re lucky enough to encounter a whole round of Angel’s Delight in store, you’re sure to be mesmerized by its beautiful gold moon “frame”. LUSH co-founders Mark and Mo Constantine happened upon a similar gilded frame in an antique shop while on an inspiration trip to Venice, but we think they may have surpassed the original design with this beautiful soap! (From Lush website: http://www.lushusa.com/Angel%27s-Delight/00833,en_US,pd.html#start=7)

I was really intrigued by the look of this soap in it’s full form and I decided I had to check it out.

download (1)

Isn’t that the coolest design of soap EVER!?! Of course there was a ton of it missing by the time I saw it at Lush, but I still did get a good idea.

This is what my piece looked like! I did actually use up this soap already. I loved it! I will most likely buy it again next time I go to a Lush store. The scent reminds me of fruit punch. It isn’t an overpowering scent, I feel like it has the right amount of strength. This bar soap did moisturize my skin and did lather really well. I just wish that it could lather like that without them using Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. But, I still love Lush!

DSC00951 DSC00953

Anyway that ends my mini haul! Let me know if you have tried these products and let me know what you think of them! Also let me know if you want a full review on any of the products. I love reading your comments! 🙂

A few little things….Need input!

I have a question for my followers. Are my blog posts showing up on the reader? I am just wondering because I recently did a post on Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen inspired makeup and haven’t received much feedback. I have asked a few followers and they said that they did not see it on their reader and that they weren’t receiving emails either. Comment down below and let me know.
A few little extra things I wanted to include…

902578_769285839755053_1658527715_o

Just wanted to post this picture from Disney’s Frozen because if you look closely you can see Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert from Disney’s Tangled. I just wanted to post that so if you go to the movie you can pay attention because I don’t remember seeing them when I went.

Also, I just thought that this was cool. I live in Minnesota and I have been to Mall of America many times. This post makes me proud to be a Minnesotan! It’s about a person named Zach Sobiech that got cancer and wrote a song called, “Clouds” which is him basically saying goodbye. This song became very popular and was number 1 on Itunes. Which it honestly is an amazing song. Sadly he did pass. Well not too long ago 5,000 people got together and sang this song at Mall of America. There is a video on the link. Just take a look because it is pretty amazing!

http://www.twincities.com/washingtoncounty/ci_24666557/5-000-sing-zach-sobiechs-clouds-his-memory
One last thing is that it is now snowing on my blog. I think that is awesome!
