Day 25: Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint Review

IMG_1390

When I was browsing through the more natural section at Target, I came across a brand named Pacifica. I saw they had a variety of beauty products, but the color quench lip tints were catching my eye. I didn’t pick one up right away, but after a few different times at Target, I decided to take the leap. Since then, I have bought the whole line of the lip tints. Ulta got me there with the, buy 1 get 1 50% off! I also sent one in my transatlantic box swap, and I have one included in my giveaway that is going on right now! If you haven’t entered my giveaway yet, make sure to do that! It ends the last day of this month!

Pacifica is a beauty brand that offers many products such as: makeup, skincare, nail polish, perfume, and even candles. It was started by a lady named Brook Harvey Taylor.  You can find more information on the brand here.

I really like Pacifica’s morals! They strive on being natural! Their products are 100% vegan, cruelty free, and paraben free. That is hard to come by in most beauty brands.  I mean even Lush Cosmetics uses parabens in their products! They also work as a company to help the environment. On the back of each lip tint box it says that a “portion of proceeds support clean water.” These products were also made in the USA.

What Pacifica says about their lip tints,Give your lips the love they deserve! All Natural Color Quench lip tints packs major lip moisture, nourishing naturals and gorgeous, sheer lip color into one perfectly portable, 100% recyclable tube. Essential fatty acids from rich and amazing avocado and coconut oils leave lips luscious and healthy. Natural flavor and 5 perfect shades produce the prettiest, most kissable mouth ever. 100% vegan and gluten free. Your lips will love you back!” More information found here

Packaging

I think that Pacifica’s packaging is gorgeous! I just love the details that they put into the outer-boxes and the tubes themselves. The lip tints come in an array of colors and the shades match the outer packaging as well.

Each tube of lip tint contains 0.15 oz or 4.25 G.

Shades/Colors (Pacifica’s description in italics and from their website)

This line has 5 different shades/scents.

IMG_20140424_161308248

1) Coconut Nectar Shimmery Golden Raisin

This is probably my least favorite of the 5, only because I’m not the biggest fan of coconut. It is a nice neutral shade and it is very creamy. The shade is shimmery and very wearable. When applying it to the lips, it feels a little rough due to the shimmery particles, but once applied, it feels amazingly smooth on the lips.

2) Vanilla hibiscus Pale Pink with a Touch of Pearl

This light pink shade is perfect for everyday use. It is the most sheerest of the 5. I really do like the scent. It smells like fresh vanilla with a hint of hibiscus. The formula is also very creamy and feels amazing on the lips.

3) Guava Berry Quintessential Berry Stain

This is actually my first lip tint that I got and it remains to be my favorite as well. I just love the berry tint that is gives my lips. The formula is amazing! It applies to the lips like butter. The scent is also amazing! This lip tint was the reason that I wanted to try the others out. This is also the color that I sent in my box swap and the color that will be available in my giveaway.

4) Sugared Fig Rich Plummy Fig with a Hint of Sexy Sparkle

I really like this shade as well. The scent is nice and sweet. The formula is very creamy. It applies to the lips very smoothly. The shade is a little darker than the others, but still very wearable.

5) Blood Orange Sweet Coral with a Pop of Pink

This is my second favorite of the 5, just because I love the scent so much. I also love the color it gives my lips. The formula is once again amazing.

Are you surprised that I have another Mirya picture showing up in a makeup post? Lol!  I always feel so weird taking pictures of myself, so I always add Mirya in. Make sure to check out her post from yesterday to see some updated pictures of her! I may be biased, but she is dang cute!

Overall, these lip tints will be a staple in my collection! I am very very very intrigued to try more Pacifica products!  I always have guava berry in my purse.  I’m not big on bold lips and I don’t tend to wear lipstick that often. With that being said, I feel like these colors are perfect for the type of lip look that I want from day to day. They’re more of a natural lip look, which is something that I really like about this line. They’re easy to grab and apply whenever in a hurry! Some of the shades are hard to find at my Target, but usually they can be found at any Ulta. They’re super moisturizing and make the lips feel amazing. The longevity is amazing as well. I will recommend this product to anyone over and over.

Comment and let me know if you have tried these products or if you have tried any other Pacifica products! Hope you enjoyed this post! I love hearing from you!

Day 22: Lush Charity Pot Lotion Review

I have gone through a few tubs of this lotion from Lush. It was actually one of my first Lush items that I ever bought from them. I have now become a big Lush fan and I am very happy that a classmate of mine told me about this amazing company. I love their beliefs and values and how they stand strong against animal testing. This lotion is called, “Charity Pot.” By buying a Charity Pot lotion, Lush actually donates 100% of its proceeds to charity (excluding taxes). That is pretty amazing for a company to do because usually it is 25% or less that goes to charity. There are a few different charities that you can pick from when buying your lotion. I think that this lotion is such a nice cause and that was the biggest reason that I decided to try this lotion over the others.

DSC00645  IMG_1276

According to Lush, “Since 2007, we’ve donated more than $4,750,000 to over 400 GRASSROOTS CHARITIES in 35 countries.” Information found here

I think that is amazing!

What Lush says about its Charity Pot lotion,Inside every black pot of Charity Pot is a whole lot more than a creamy body lotion to hydrate parched, dry skin. Of course, it’s filled with the finest ingredients, including Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, and made by hand with love. Not to mention the gorgeous fresh, ylang ylang floral fragrance. What makes it so special? Every penny (yes, every single penny) that you pay for a pot, excluding the tax, goes to fund and support grassroots charities all around the world. You end up with softer, floral-scented skin AND you’re doing a world of good with every pot purchased.”  Information found here

Want more information?!? Check out this video from Lush!

Kudos to Lush for donating all the proceeds to charity!!!

Lush is known for its natural ingredients that they put into their products. Lush’s tagline is fresh handmade cosmetics, which it even states on their bag. With that being said, I felt like it was very important to check out the ingredients and talk a little bit about them.

IMG_1273

Ingredients as shown on Lush’s website

Water (Aqua) , Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Fair Trade Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) , Glycerine , Stearic Acid , Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata) , Geranium Oil (Pelargonium crispum) , Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta) , Triethanolamine , Cetearyl Alcohol , *Geraniol, *Citronellol , *Limonene , *Linalool , Fragrance ,Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides) ,Methylparaben , Propylparaben

As you can see there is a lot of natural ingredients with the featured ingredient being Ylang Ylang oil on their website. It also has fair trade cocoa butter. But, there is also parabens included. I’m surprised that these are included in this lotion since Lush strives for being all natural. I honestly don’t know that much about parabens, but with more and more things going paraben free I am honestly surprised that Lush hasn’t gone that way yet. Hopefully they will soon!

DSC00647

DSC00648

All Lush products come with this yellow sticker which states when the product was made, who made the product, and the expiration date.

MY THOUGHTS

Packaging

I’m not the biggest fan of lotion in tubs because I like easy access with using a pump. I’ll be honest sometimes I choose my Indigo Wild Almond lotion over this especially if I’m in a hurry because that lotion comes with a pump. Although, Lush states that its packaging is not virgin and made from 100% recycled plastic. I really think that is awesome of Lush, so all in all, I will still buy this over and over pump or no pump.

DSC00646

Sizes & Prices

The price is hefty, but I don’t mind because I love the cause! This lotion comes in 2 different sizes. The small tub is $5.95 for 1.7 oz and the large tub is $22.95 for 7.9 oz. Remember that this lotion is made fresh so yes it will be more expensive than lets say a generic lotion bought at a Target or Wal-Mart.

 Color

The color of this lotion is light yellow.

DSC00651

Scent

The scent isn’t the best in my opinion. It does smell super strong in the tub. Some people I know have been turned away from this lotion because of that. But, honestly it smells differently when applied to the skin. It isn’t as strong and it is nice and soft instead. It is a mixture between floral and cocoa.  It reminds me of freshly cut flowers.

Texture

The texture is semi thick. It isn’t too liquidy and isn’t thick like a body butter. I feel like this lotion has a nice texture and it blends into the skin very easily. The lotion isn’t greasy at all.

Moisture

This is what makes this lotion amazing! I have super dry skin especially during the winter months. My legs become super dry and itchy if I don’t apply lotion. Using this lotion keeps my skin moisturized and feeling so much better. Even if the scent isn’t my favorite, this is the selling point for me. Like I said above, the scent doesn’t linger and once applied to the skin it is nice and soft.

Overall thoughts!

I really like this lotion if you haven’t realized that by now. Even though I’m not the fondest of the scent, I still do love this lotion. When I went to Lush at Mall of America they had the little Charity Pots sitting up at the register. Of course I decided to throw one in with my other purchases! I will continue to buy this lotion, but I really do hope that they make it paraben free!

Comment and let me know what you think of this lotion! What do you think of the scent? Comment down below and let me know! I love hearing from you all!

Day 21: What I would buy if I had $500-$1000 to spend on beauty products…

I saw this post idea from Jacquelyn from The Little Scottish Corner and I decided that I would do this post too! She said that she would love for others to do this post as well, so here it goes! This probably isn’t helping my no buy, but I still wanted to share this post with you! If you haven’t checked out her blog make sure to do so. You can check it out here. Maybe someday I would win a shopping spree from Sephora or Ulta. Lol, big dreaming!

1) Alex Drawer Unity with 9 drawers from IKEA $119.00

I hate disorganization! I hate how I have my makeup stored now! This lovely beauty is very popular among the Youtubers and makeup enthusiasts. I would just love to have all my items stored in one space. I would use this for more than just makeup such as: nail polishes, skincare (Lush bath bombs), hair accessories, and much more. I’ve never been to an IKEA before. My brother and sister in law love IKEA and if they decide to go to the cities and ask me to go with, I WILL be picking this up.  Monica Geller from Friends would be so proud of this!

2) Urban Decay Electric Palette $49.99

This palette just has a lot of fun colors! I’ve seen the swatches of the colors and they look amazing! It is definitely not an everyday palette, but it would be a fun one to have. This palette would be perfect for those pop of color looks.

3) Meet Matt(e) Nude by The Balm $42

The Balm is one of my favorite brands. I do have a few The Balm palettes, but I actually don’t have this one. I got this palette during a 50% sale that they were having and I sent this palette to the UK for my box swap! I felt like Stephanie (Effie) really needed to try out this brand.

4) The Balm Powder to the People Brush in Crease, Love, & Happiness $24.50

I love this brush! I used to have this brush, but sadly Mirya got a hold of it! This is a reason why the IKEA drawer would be nice! I love the crease brush because it fits perfectly into my crease.

5) INSTAIN Long Wearing Powder Staining Blush by The Balm $22.00

I got a sample of this blush in a different color  in a Birchbox.  I was very impressed with the pigmentation and longevity. I really like the color that I posted down below called Argyle.

6) Ambient Lighting Palette by Hourglass from Sephora $58.00

I have heard so much about these powders! They have so many great reviews, but the price tag sure is large. It is cool that they came out with this combo palette.

7) Ambient Lighting Blush $35.00

I did see these at Sephora when I was at Mall of America. They felt amazing when I swatched them. I just couldn’t get over the price tag. But, that is Hourglass. I would have to re-swatch all the colors and decide which one I would get, but right now I am loving the look of Ethereal Glow with is a cool pink (shown in the photo below). Apparently these blushes are blended together with the powders described above making for a flawless face.

8) Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library by Bite Beauty $49.00

I really want to try something from Bite Beauty. Apparently this brand is all natural and made with food grade ingredients. They do this because apparently overtime we consume quite a bit of lip products! Coffee Break with Dani on YouTube just did a Bite Beauty haul and all the things she got were gorgeous!

9) Luminous Creme Lipstick by Bite Beauty $24.00

I of course would love to try their lipsticks as well. I’m not sure on what color yet, but most likely neutral or pink. I would have to re-watch that video from Coffee Break with Dani because there was a color that she got that I absolutely loved. The color I posted below is Ballet Pink and I think it looks gorgeous!

10) Glamglow THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment $69.00

These masks are super expensive, but receive a lot awesome reviews! I would get the hydrating treatment because I have dry skin. Although, I probably will never ever buy this because of the price tag, but it is still fun to look.

11) Sigma Beauty The Perfect Blend Kit $63.00

I would love to try this brush kit because I want blending brushes to make for easier application. I really love Sigma brushes so I would love to try this set.

12) Return of Sexy palette by Too Faced $49.99

This palette looks gorgeous! My sister in law just got this palette and she loves it! It has a lot of nice colors included. It also includes a eyeliner and a shadow insurance.

13) Makeup Geek Eyeshadows $5.99 each

I have heard so many amazing things about Makeup Geek shadows. A ton of people said that I need to try these shadows including an old roommate. I really want to try them and see what all the hype is about. They seem to be really affordable with being $5.99 each. There is an amazing range of colors! I am in love with this mermaid color. I posted a few more colors that I thought looked amazing! Photos found here.

 14) Lime Crime Fantasy Palette in Palette D’Antoninette $35.00

I have heard many amazing things about Lime Crime! I especially love the look of this palette. I love the bright pastel colors.

15) i-Divine Palettes by Sleek Makeup $11.99 each

I was really impressed with the Sleek palette that I got in my box swap. I of course lusted over the other palettes after I was so impressed with the Storm palette. Make sure to check out my review on that palette if you haven’t already. Pictures found on their website here. Pretty much all their palettes are amazing, but here are a few of my favorites!

Garden of Eden

i-Candy

Del Mar

Well I decided that I am going to stop at #15. I guess I’m not exactly sure what my total is, but I know that is is close. Obviously, I would never get all of this, but it was sure fun to share all the amazing products out there! Comment and let me know if you have tried any of these products!

I hope everybody had an amazing Easter! I worked during the weekend so I plan on getting together with my family next weekend for a Easter/April birthdays combo celebration!

Day 13: My Top 10 Youtube Beauty Gurus!

top youtubers

You may or may not know that I was a late bloomer when it came to makeup. I never ever wore it in high school or during most of my college life. I was stubborn (if that is what you call it) and I looked at it as, “I don’t need to fit into society’s norms?” I was also in dance for 13 years so I was forced to wear it then. Sure, I wore it during weddings and prom, but usually nothing more than that. Although, I still agree with the fact that I don’t need to fit into society’s norms, my outlook on makeup has changed drastically. I mean drastically! I am 25 right now, if someone told me when I was, let’s say 20 years old that I would start a beauty blog and own quite a bit of makeup, I would have probably said no way.

So where did my inspiration come from?

I kind of had an epiphany and decided to start selling Avon. I was really interested in their perfumes and I wanted to try out some of their makeup. I also liked that Avon sells more than just makeup. I sold Avon for a year, or sort of sold it. I’m not a very good business person. It wasn’t for me, so I decided to quit selling it. Where I was living at the time, there was a new store in the mall called Sephora. I had never heard of one of these at that time. I never went in there until my sister in law told me I should check it out. Behold…this is where Avon was no more and I found out about the amazing pigmentation of Urban Decay. I didn’t get anything that first day because I was not used to Sephora prices and I was used to Avon pricing, but I just couldn’t get that Urban Decay Glinda palette out of my mind. I did order it off Urban Decay’s website with a coupon code and my love of makeup started blossoming. This is where Youtube comes in. I was a newbie with makeup brands so I watched a lot of Youtube videos and this is really where I started my major love for beauty items. Without YouTube, I don’t think I would have ever started my blog. I owe all these lovely ladies with my inspiration to start the Beauty Deputy. Also, I blame all these ladies for all those Sephora and Ulta hauls. In case you’re wondering, I don’t think a woman needs to wear makeup, I just love the creativity behind it, which is why I love eye-shadow palettes so much. I am also a sucker for packaging. Sorry for the lengthy introduction, but here are the top 10 lovely ladies I love to watch in no particular order.

1) Charisma Star

She is one of my favorites! I think that she seems like such an inspiration. She seems like such a true down to earth gal. Also, her and Jacob’s love story is amazing. The thing that I love about this amazing Youtuber is the creativity behind all of her videos. She gets into character with her tutorials!  Snow White? Might as well wear a Snow White costume and sound like her as well!

2) ThatGirlShaeXo

I love this girl’s personality that she transmits through her videos. She is so bubbly and just amazing at makeup tutorials! I always get excited when a new video comes out from this Youtuber.

3) Coffee Break With Dani

This girl is amazing! She is awesome. I love her makeup reviews. This girl was the reason I got that Pantone Universe Sephora Color of the Year palette. She always has amazing makeup looks that she creates. She is the Queen of blending. She also has a westie (West Highland White Terrier) which is the breed of dog that Maddie is. Her son is also adorable!

4) Xsparkage

This awesome lady is no stranger to color. She is always coming up with amazing colorful eye looks. I think that her reviews are always amazing and spot on. If a new palette came out, I know who to check to see if she has reviewed it.

5) Essie Button

I recently started following this Youtuber and I think she is amazing. I just love her personality! One of her first videos I watched was all about Tarte, which is a favorite brand of mine. I just think that she has some amazing makeup advice. Her tutorial on winged eyeliner really breaks it down into nice steps to help get flawless application.

6) BeautyWithBrittanyXo

Brittany is a pretty amazing name…isn’t it? Lol, but I do really love her Youtube channel. She is a lot like me and loves makeup palettes and I just love watching her videos. She has the most amazing red hair as well.

7) MakeupByTiffanyD

This is the lady that got me to try Sigma brushes. She has amazing recommendations and I love her makeup tutorials. Also, her closet looks like a girl’s heaven.

8) Samantha Schuerman

She has an adorable personality. She always has this series the end of each week, “Sunday Sizzles and Fizzles.” I love watching to see what items she loves and which she doesn’t.

9) MissJenFABULOUS

I recently found this Youtube channel because I was looking into nail art. I love these tutorials because she breaks it down nicely because I am surely a beginner at nail art. She was also the reason I did my Sally’s Beauty Supply haul that was featured before the start of my no-buy. I pretty much watched her beginner nail art 1-11 videos in 1 to 2 nights intermittently.

10) Jaclyn Hill

Love this girl! She is amazing! Her makeup is always flawless. She also is very informative and has a lot of amazing videos with tips and tricks.

That concludes this post on my favorite Youtubers! I think that all of the above ladies are awesome and I think you should check out each and everyone. Sometimes, I would love to take my blog to the next step and make my own Youtube videos. Comment and let me know who your favorites are on Youtube? Also, let me know if you watch any of the lovely ladies that I mentioned.
