December Favorites 2013

So the song another one bites the dust by Queen comes into my head because another month is gone and it’s time for December favorites! Also it’s 2014!!!! That’s crazy! That means in about 3.5 years it will be my 10 year reunion!

So this month I have been loving quite a few products!

1. Urban Decay’s Original Naked palette

I got this palette during the beginning of the month and let me tell you, I LOVE IT! I love the looks that I can create with it, and I do think I like it more than the Naked 2 which I have had for awhile. I love that the shades are more bronze-hued and more warm toned. I will be doing a post sometime in January on a comparison and review of all 3 Naked palettes.

2. Bedhead After Party Smoothing Cream for Silky, Shiny, Healthy Looking Hair!

Yes, yes I know that this is an odd shape. I have heard many times that it resembles the look of a penis which makes me giggle. Yes, I know real mature. But anyway, onto the point. I have numerous flyaways and I need something to tame them down without making my hair greasy. This does just that, but only a little bit is needed. My hair also does feel silky and shiny with this product.

3. Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer in Light by The Balm

I love this stuff! I haven’t had it for that long. I got it on Cyber Monday. For a tinted moisturizer it has good coverage and makes my skin feel soft and moisturized. I have some redness to my skin so this covers it up nicely. It also has SPF 18 which is an added bonus.

4. Eucerin Original Healing Soothing Repair Creme

My hands got so dry and rashy this month and the past few months. My knuckles were also cracking. I would go to sleep (still do) with this caked on my hands and wear the green gloves to bed. They’re so much better now thanks to this cream. I love that it is so thick. I feel like the thicker the lotion or creme the more moisturizing. I included a picture of what my hands looked like after a night at work using their soaps and gloves, and that isn’t even them being that bad. I since then use my own soap. I’m hoping this is just a seasonal thing.

5. Benefit’s Box O’ Powder in Rockateur

I love love love this blush! This is my only Box O’ Powder from Benefit Cosmetics. This blush has been in a few of my posts. It’s one of my all time favorite blushes that I own. The color is a gorgeous rose gold and is perfect for a lot of skin tones. It is also easily blend-able to create the perfect look! I am not a big fan of the brush, but it does work for travel.

6. Charity Pot Lotion by Lush

I love this lotion! I’ve gone through 2 tubs of this since I discovered it. A thing that I love about this lotion is that they donate 100% of their proceeds to charities with each purchase of this lotion. I think that is amazing because it is 100%! The lotion is super moisturizing and I love using it all over my skin (except for face) after showering. It does have a flowery cocoa scent and it is kind of overpowering in the tub, but isn’t when on the skin.

7. Let the Good Times Roll Facial Scrub

I am in love with stuff! It smells amazing!!!! It also feels amazing on the skin! I have so many good words to say about this product! I actually ran out of it and will repurchase this stuff again and again and again! I did do a review on this so if you’re interested check it out here:

8. Jumbo Eye Pencil by Nyx Cosmetics in the color Milk

I love using this as a base under eye shadows. It makes the shadows stand out more with the base being white. This is also super creamy and blends super easy. It is also very cheap and high quality! I got mine at Ulta. They also come in many different colors, but the color milk is my favorite. Comment if you want to see the other colors of these that I own. I could do a quick post on that if you’re interested.

That ends my December monthly favorites! Comment and let me know if you have tried any of these products and what do you think of them. You will be seeing some of these products in an upcoming empties post.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Here is a aww moment photo of the day!

Mirya’s BarkBox Review!

So if you know me, you may already know that I am a big animal lover. I also love subscription box services. So when those two go together I am all 🙂 !!! BarkBox is a popular subscription service for dogs. I contemplated getting this for awhile but I never did until now because of the high price factor, but on Cyber Monday they had a promotion going on! I ended up signing up for a 3 month subscription for a pretty good price. I got mine for $14/month for 3 months.

Their normal pricing is:

  • $29 for 1 month
  • $24/month for 3 months
  • $19/month for 6 months

Their website is: (the pictures above are from their website)

If you’re new to my blog I got a Shiba Inu puppy whom I named Mirya (Meere-Rah) October of this year. She just turned 5 months on December 7th. She joined my 3 year old cat Molly.

from Christmas time this year.

Well let us get to the review…

My initial impression was that it was very neat and I thought all the wording on the paper was cute!

Getting excited! An overview of the inside!!

This explains the products inside.

Since this photo is hard to read I will share with you the products Mirya received.

  1. Simply Fido: Simply Fido toys are much-loved by BarkBox subscribers for their adorable, interactive design. Tug, squeak, and snuggle away! They’re a favorite of Mother Earth as well, since they’re made with organic, non-toxic materials and low-impact, AZO-free dyes! (
  2. GoDog: Colorful, fuzzy, and squeaky, your pup is bound to become best friends with his new Yeti toy. We know- it’s counterintuitive for pups and mythical mountain monsters to become snuggle buddies, but if anyone can melt an ice giant’s heart, it’s probably your lil guy. (
  3. Planet Dog: These Planet Dog treats are every bit as delicious and decadent as chicken pot pie itself, without any wheat, corn, or soy! Every biscuit is a feast in itself. Fun Fact: did you know pumpkin is a natural digestive aid and stomach-soother? (
  4. Bistro Bites: Based in Fairfax, Virginia, Bistro Bites caters to pups on the smaller end of the size spectrum. Featuring healthy, size-appropriate goodies that are perfect for tiny mouths and itty bitty bites, these treats are wheat-free, gluten free, high in protein, and perfectly portioned. (
  5. Barkworthies: Made with 100% beef bladder, Barkworthies junior bully sticks are a BarkBox subscriber favorite. Pups find them both long-lasting and delicious! No chemicals or preservatives are used, making them a clear winner over other chews like rawhide. (

My first impression of this company was A+ when I saw all the goodies inside!

The moment Mirya got excited!

Mirya and the blue little monster guy!

Mirya and the little reindeer guy which is very fitting for December!

Mirya took this toy and went to go play under the table. She really loved it! I had to chase her to get it back so I could cut the tags off for her.

A close up of the toys! The Simply Fido dog toy on the left and the GoDog toy on the right.

A close up of the treats included.

I decided to open these treats first and save the other bag. Mirya loved these! She usually always sits and stays when I tell her to stay and grabs the treat when I tell her she can. Well with this treat she had selective hearing!

A chew treat. I haven’t given this to her yet, but I know when I do she will love it. It is kind of weird that it has beef bladder in it, but I guess dogs love it!

So as you can tell Mirya was very excited to get her first BarkBox. She gave it her paw stamp of approval and will be waiting for another BarkBox to come!

So here is what I think of it!

  • neat idea for animal lovers and subscription box lovers
  • high quality toys that will last with Mirya and her love of chewing
  • high quality treats with good ingredients that are made in the USA
  • good amount of items included (full sized treat bags and not samples sized)
  • customization for size of dog (I picked small because she is still a puppy and will be around 15 to 20 pounds full grown)
  • BarkBox donates to dogs in need

  • price (even though I got it for a reasonable price because of Cyber Monday, I think the original price is a lot!)
  • What about the cats? This isn’t really a con about this box. But I think that this company should make a MeowBox because our kitties like treats and toys too!  My cat Molly got a 3 month subscription to Pawalla during the summer which I really liked but that company has now closed down 😦 !
  • I really don’t have that many bad things to say about this box. Shipping was good, quality is there, and Mirya is happy 🙂

What Mirya and Molly got in their Christmas stockings! Mirya probably didn’t need these toys because of her BarkBox but I got these toys awhile ago. But hey Mirya likes to chew and she needs toys all over because I don’t want her picking my woodwork to chew on instead because of boredom.

That concludes the end of this post! I will do more posts on BarkBox as the boxes come! So stay tuned! Also let me know if you have tried BarkBox! Also let me know if you have tried any other pet subscription services.

My Cyber Monday The Balm Cosmetics Haul!

If you have been reading my posts I’m sure by now you know that I love the cosmetic company, “The Balm.” I honestly think they have the best blushes and eye shadow palettes. I do love my Urban Decay eye shadows too! But, The Balm wins on the packaging! You may also know that I love packaging. If I had my own cosmetics company my packaging would be colorful and amazing! It would also be cruetly-free. The Balm is a cruetly free company so that is also a reason why I like them. Well so Black Friday comes around and I didn’t get anything, but then Cyber monday comes around and everything on The Balm’s website is 40% off! I had a hard time passing that up. So anyway it took me forever to decide what to get and these are the products that I chose. Just an FYI: sorry for the horrible picture quality. It gets dark so fast these days! Sun come back!!!  Hope you enjoy!

1. The BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer

I got the color light because according to some reviews this product does oxidize so the color becomes a littler darker. So I would normally get light/medium but since it oxidizes I got the color light. I read good reviews on this tinted moisturizer and that it gives good coverage for what kind of product it is. Of course it won’t be like foundation coverage, but I don’t use much foundation anyway.

2. Powder to the People Blend a Hand Brush

I love the Powder to the People brush collection. I decided I wanted to get this brush because I wanted a brush to help with blending foundation and concealer. I also think the handle of this brush is adorable!

3.  Balm Jovi Rockstar Face Palette

I think a lot of people who follow my blog know I love palettes, well with the 40% off I couldn’t help myself. I think the packaging is adorable! I plan on doing another full in depth post regarding this palette later this coming week. I also plan on doing a couple upcoming eye shadow palette reviews including my NuteTude palette.

4. Schwing Black Liquid Eyeliner

I’ve always wanted to try this eyeliner because I have trouble with getting a precise line at times. Hopefully with this I can improve on my eyeliner skills. I think this is a perfect eyeliner to try. Also the packaging is super adorable and the tip is very thin and precise when I swatched it on my hand.

5. Time Balm Concealer

This concealer states that it is a full coverage concealer for dark circles and spots and I am hoping that it helps cover my dark under eyes. I have pretty good skin so I don’t have that many spots to cover up, but those dark under eyes are super noticeable in my opinion. Those overnight shifts at work don’t help too much! I think that the outer box packaging is cute, but the concealer packaging itself isn’t that spectacular especially when I compare it to their other products. Also this product does come with a makeup sponge which I won’t use.

6. Overshadow in the color, “Work is Overrated”

This color is a shimmery pink champagne and it is meant to put over an eye look to add some shimmer.  I thought it looked gorgeous on the website! It is also gorgeous swatched! It will be nice for the holiday season to use to add some shimmer to an eye look.

Sample Item: Juniper Oil-Free Face Moisturizer

If you look at the photo above you can see a sample. Well funny thing is that is actually the face moisturizer that I use. I love this moisturizer! I plan on doing a skincare routine post sometime in the future if you’re interested.

One last thing…I get a lot of these products from Hautelook which puts products on their website for a well discounted price. I can say for a fact that I have never paid full price for any of my The Balm products! Check out this site because other cosmetic/skincare companies are featured on this site too such as Urban Decay, Stila, and much more! The only thing about this website is that shipping takes forever! My personal invite is (Don’t worry everybody who signs up for Hautelook gets one of these links, Refer a friend, get $10 credit type thing)

So that ends my The Balm Cosmetics haul for Cyber Monday! Let me know if you have tried any of these products. Even if you haven’t let me know what you think of the the packaging. Make sure to come back to my blog to read my upcoming 3 palettes posts from this company. I also might do some follow up reviews on the other products too!
