Lush Liquid Lipstick Review: Perspective

When I went to Mall of America’s Lush store, I decided to check out their makeup line. Since Lush prices are high, I only walked out with 1 thing from their makeup line, although I would have liked to try some more as well. Once I decided that I was going to get a liquid lipstick, I swatched most of the shades in store. I decided on the shade Perspective, which is a dusky rose. I find it to be a gorgeous shade!

What Lush says about Perspective, “This natural, dusky rose lipstick is perfect for everyday use and looks beautiful on a variety of skin tones. The rose wax and jojoba oil base ensure the lipstick goes on smooth and keeps lips hydrated all day long. We’ve heard fans calling this their all-in-one, as this creamy lipstick can also be used as a blush for a rosy glow. Wear Perspective when you need a new way of regarding a problem or situation; now you can see clearly.” More information found here.

Lush Cosmetics is all about making fresh products with fresh ingredients. That is something that I love about the company. Since their products are fresh, they leave a lot of preservatives out of it. With that being said, their products expire faster. Although, they do still have to add some otherwise it would need to be put into a refrigerator. This product is vegan. I also love that they stand against animal testing! That is a big pro for the animal lover in me.

Ingredients (Information also found in link above)

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia cerifera), Rose Wax (Rosa damascena), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Iron Oxides, D&C Red No. 27 Aluminium Lake, Titanium Dioxide

The packaging is a lot different than any other products like this that I have tried. Although, I honestly haven’t tried that many liquid lipsticks. I think that the packaging is easy to use. The applicator is a dofa applicator so application is pretty easy. There is no chance of spilling with how they produced the package as well.

Swatches & on the Lips

I really fell in love with this shade when I swatched it in store because it is a natural wearable rosey pink. I am not big on bold lips so I think this shade is perfect for me.

Here are some pictures of me wearing the shade. Also, in case you’re wondering what is on my eyes, it is the one and only Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. Love that palette!

Here is another picture with the lipstick and I am also sporting my new sunglasses!

The formula is really pigmented and creamy. The consistency is hard to describe because it feels a little grainy or gritty when rubbing the lips together right after application. I actually think that it feels nice. It is very hard to describe. I recommend going into a Lush and trying it out for yourself. It does have an average wear time, so nothing too special. Of course, it does need to be reapplied after eating. I feel like when lipsticks last all day, they most likely have nasty ingredients in them. How else would they last that long?

  • Non-sticky
  • Fragrance free
  • Pigmented
  • Handmade
  • Natural shade
  • Creamy
  • Easy to apply

  • Price
  • May not be visible on all lip shades
  • Average wear time

Overall, I think that it was fun to try a Lush liquid lipstick. It is good to think that it is more natural than a lot of other lip products out on the market. Just think about it…I wonder how much lipstick or lip product a person ingests throughout their lifetime? Might as well be more natural…right?!? I do think that I would repurchase it again once I use it up. Although, I think it might take me awhile because I don’t wear it everyday. I have a year before it expires. *Goes and applies it to lips*

Product Empties Part 1: Haircare

I have not done a empties post in FOREVER! Actually, I think I have only done 1 since I started my blog. That means, I have a lot of empties or in other words…garbage! With that being said, I will split this into a few parts: haircare, skincare, body lotions, and makeup. So people may wonder why beauty bloggers save their beauty “garbage.” I really do like reading these posts, because it is fun to see what people end up using up and if it is worth a repurchase.

First off I will tell you that I change my shampoo and conditioner out frequently and hardly ever repurchase. I may repurchase in the future, but usually I try something different once I use a shampoo and conditioner up. I feel like hair builds up a tolerance to the shampoo, therefore it quits cleaning the hair as well as it used to.

En Root Keep My Color Shampoo and Conditioner

One day during shopping at Ulta, I ran across this shampoo and conditioner. I had no idea that they carried The Balm’s shampoo and conditioner. The Balm is one of my favorite beauty brands so I was excited to give this a try. I really did like the scent of this shampoo and conditioner so that was a plus. I felt like the conditioner put a little bit of a film on my hair. With this shampoo, I would have to wash my hair every single day otherwise my hair would get greasy. I did like that it was sulfate free, but I just felt like it didn’t wash my hair as well as I wanted.

Would I repurchase? No

Rating: 3.5/5

Nexus Color Assure Sulfate Free System Shampoo and Conditioner

Target carried this brand of shampoo so I decided why not try it?!? This shampoo is sulfate free and color safe. I did like this duo for the most part, but like I said above my hair built up a tolerance to it and it did not clean as well. Same thing with the conditioner as the one above. I felt like it put a film on my hair as well. I only used a small amount and rinsed out well, but no matter what I felt like it wasn’t as soft as it could be. But, I am fussy when it comes to shampoos and conditioners.

Would I repurchase? No

healthysexyhair Color Safe Soy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner

I really wanted to try something a little more natural so I decided to try healthysexyhair’s color safe shampoo and conditioner. This is probably my favorite of  all 3. I did feel like it washed my hair nicely and made it soft. I didn’t have any issues with the conditioner other than it being hard to comb out my hair afterwards. The scent was nice and subtle as well.

Would I repurchase? Yes

healthysexyhair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner

To go along with the shampoo and conditioner above I decided to try this leave in conditioner. Funny story with this product…I almost slipped on the floor because of this leave in conditioner. You probably wonder why? Well, whenever I pressed down the pump the product pretty much sprayed all over. So I would spray it on my hair and a little got on the floor. Well, I could have broken a bone. Anyway, enough of that. I ended up just spraying it in my hand and placing it into my hair. The formula of this is very liquidy so the application I found to be annoying. Otherwise, it did help with brushing out my hair. But, in reality there is something better out on the market.

Would I repurchase? No

AG Hair Cosmetics Keratin Repair Reconstruct Intense Anti-breakage Mask

I highlight my hair, so by doing that I damage my hair. Also, I had dyed my hair brown about 2 years ago and went back to blonde the end of that year. Doing that caused some damage to my hair and I just felt like my hair was fragile and breaking all the time. So I decided to try this! The scent of it smells good. It is hard to describe, but I do like it. It makes my hair soft, manageable, and those fly aways aren’t as bad. I have had people comment that my hair looks nice after using this mask. I try to use it at least once a week, sometimes 2. The a big con is the price tag. But, AG Hair Cosmetics is more natural and cruelty free.

Would I repurchase? Yes, and I have actually already done that. I am already halfway through my second one.

Rating 4.5/5

That concludes my haircare empties! I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you have tried any of these products. Comment down below with what you thought of them! Also, comment and let me know if you want to see more empties posts in the future! I love hearing from you all!

Day 22: Lush Charity Pot Lotion Review

I have gone through a few tubs of this lotion from Lush. It was actually one of my first Lush items that I ever bought from them. I have now become a big Lush fan and I am very happy that a classmate of mine told me about this amazing company. I love their beliefs and values and how they stand strong against animal testing. This lotion is called, “Charity Pot.” By buying a Charity Pot lotion, Lush actually donates 100% of its proceeds to charity (excluding taxes). That is pretty amazing for a company to do because usually it is 25% or less that goes to charity. There are a few different charities that you can pick from when buying your lotion. I think that this lotion is such a nice cause and that was the biggest reason that I decided to try this lotion over the others.

According to Lush, “Since 2007, we’ve donated more than $4,750,000 to over 400 GRASSROOTS CHARITIES in 35 countries.” Information found here

I think that is amazing!

What Lush says about its Charity Pot lotion,Inside every black pot of Charity Pot is a whole lot more than a creamy body lotion to hydrate parched, dry skin. Of course, it’s filled with the finest ingredients, including Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, and made by hand with love. Not to mention the gorgeous fresh, ylang ylang floral fragrance. What makes it so special? Every penny (yes, every single penny) that you pay for a pot, excluding the tax, goes to fund and support grassroots charities all around the world. You end up with softer, floral-scented skin AND you’re doing a world of good with every pot purchased.”  Information found here

Kudos to Lush for donating all the proceeds to charity!!!

Lush is known for its natural ingredients that they put into their products. Lush’s tagline is fresh handmade cosmetics, which it even states on their bag. With that being said, I felt like it was very important to check out the ingredients and talk a little bit about them.

Ingredients as shown on Lush’s website

Water (Aqua) , Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Fair Trade Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) , Glycerine , Stearic Acid , Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata) , Geranium Oil (Pelargonium crispum) , Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta) , Triethanolamine , Cetearyl Alcohol , *Geraniol, *Citronellol , *Limonene , *Linalool , Fragrance ,Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides) ,Methylparaben , Propylparaben

As you can see there is a lot of natural ingredients with the featured ingredient being Ylang Ylang oil on their website. It also has fair trade cocoa butter. But, there is also parabens included. I’m surprised that these are included in this lotion since Lush strives for being all natural. I honestly don’t know that much about parabens, but with more and more things going paraben free I am honestly surprised that Lush hasn’t gone that way yet. Hopefully they will soon!

All Lush products come with this yellow sticker which states when the product was made, who made the product, and the expiration date.

I’m not the biggest fan of lotion in tubs because I like easy access with using a pump. I’ll be honest sometimes I choose my Indigo Wild Almond lotion over this especially if I’m in a hurry because that lotion comes with a pump. Although, Lush states that its packaging is not virgin and made from 100% recycled plastic. I really think that is awesome of Lush, so all in all, I will still buy this over and over pump or no pump.

Sizes & Prices

The price is hefty, but I don’t mind because I love the cause! This lotion comes in 2 different sizes. The small tub is $5.95 for 1.7 oz and the large tub is $22.95 for 7.9 oz. Remember that this lotion is made fresh so yes it will be more expensive than lets say a generic lotion bought at a Target or Wal-Mart.

The color of this lotion is light yellow.

The scent isn’t the best in my opinion. It does smell super strong in the tub. Some people I know have been turned away from this lotion because of that. But, honestly it smells differently when applied to the skin. It isn’t as strong and it is nice and soft instead. It is a mixture between floral and cocoa.  It reminds me of freshly cut flowers.

The texture is semi thick. It isn’t too liquidy and isn’t thick like a body butter. I feel like this lotion has a nice texture and it blends into the skin very easily. The lotion isn’t greasy at all.

This is what makes this lotion amazing! I have super dry skin especially during the winter months. My legs become super dry and itchy if I don’t apply lotion. Using this lotion keeps my skin moisturized and feeling so much better. Even if the scent isn’t my favorite, this is the selling point for me. Like I said above, the scent doesn’t linger and once applied to the skin it is nice and soft.

Overall thoughts!

I really like this lotion if you haven’t realized that by now. Even though I’m not the fondest of the scent, I still do love this lotion. When I went to Lush at Mall of America they had the little Charity Pots sitting up at the register. Of course I decided to throw one in with my other purchases! I will continue to buy this lotion, but I really do hope that they make it paraben free!
