Fortune Cookie Soap: Quarter Quell Collection (Hunger Games)

big_one_large

So with the new Hunger Games Catching Fire movie coming out Thursday night I decided I better share the wonderful products I got that were inspired by the movie. Well at least it is coming out Thursday night for me, but previews say Friday. Call me crazy but I am going to the first show at my theater so it is going to be jammed packed. I would have waited and went during the weekend, but it is my weekend to work and then I would have to wait until after Thanksgiving to go. I did read the book series awhile back before the first movie came to theater. I am excited to see the next installment of this series. This movie has created a lot of popular beauty and skincare items out in the industry too. There is a makeup collection by Cover Girl, although I don’t plan on getting anything for it.  But, this post is about a company called, “Fortune Cookie Soap.” It is a bath and body brand that makes numerous items. I would compare it to Lush. But, the thing with this brand is that they have a subscription box service and they make a lot of themed products: such as,  “The Quarter Quell.” I decided to order a few products from this collection.

Overview of the products. I do wish the packaging was different, but it isn’t too bad!

Now I am going to list the items that I got. Underneath each of the titles and price I am going to list the description from website (also in italics).

Item #1 “The Pearl” Body Wash $11.99 8 oz.

A sweet promise of things to come.

French vanilla & African vanilla with a gentle rain of sweet flowers and a whisper of musk.

I think that this smells amazing. If you love the scent of fresh vanilla then you will love this scent. I have tried this product and it leaves a nice subtly scent on the skin that is not overpowering at all. So far I really like this body wash. It is pretty runny so be careful not to spill any.

Item #2 “Nightlock” Sugarscrub $12.99

Sheesh!! It always comes back to the berries!!! Muddled raspberries & pomegranate smushed into blueberries.

Chock full of three different kinds of exfoliating berry seeds. Trust us, you won’t regret the decision to use this Nightlock!!

I really like this scrub. It smells amazing! It smells like berries which is a scent that I love! There is also exfoliating berry seeds which adds a nice little touch. I used this scrub on my hands. I am a nurse and I get super dry skin so this will be nice to get rid of all those dead skin cells.

Item #3 “Tick Tock” Whipped Cream $10.99

Beware, the clock is ticking… Twisted medley of waterlily & peppermint sprigs livened by hints of citrus zests. Dripping moss and swirling ozonic ocean air against a backdrop of delicate spring flowers, like the soft whisper of butterfly wings.

I really like this whipped cream body lotion. It has a thicker consistency so it is super moisturizing. I also do like the scent. I can smell flowers with some citrus, but they’re very subtle. It also has hints of Musk. I also would describe the scent as a fresh clean laundered type smell.

Item #4 “Golden Cornucopia” Bar Soap $7.99

Your heart is racing, your palms are sweating and you feel like you’re gonna pass out. Let’s face it, the golden cornucopia was never a good time. The thought of having to make that split second decision to go for it and get supplies, or make a run for it without anything – makes me break out in a cold sweat! The cornucopia represents strength, speed, fear and blood.  In contrast, we made this bar soap a sweet, warm funnel cake scent with top notes of buttery cream, milky caramelized sugar, and powdery sweet confectioner’s sugar topping a sweet bread pastry. Makes me feel better 🙂

This is my favorite product that I got from this collection. It smells amazing! It also looks amazing! It is in the shape of a cornucopia which fits, “Hunger Games Catching Fire” really well. It does smell very sweet kind of like how it is described above.

Item #5 “Poisonous Fog” Steam Me up Scotty! $5.99

A poisonous, curling vapor of dusky breezes, with just a whisper of wind-blown leaves, heliotrope, woods of cedar and  sandalwood, dark musk creeping with just a hint of roasted marshmallows, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla. Be careful, this scent gets deep under your skin… Soooo, what exactly is a “Steam Me Up Scotty!” and how do you use it? Basically, it’s a heavily scented fizzy designed for an aromatherapy type shower experience. You choose your mood.

Directions: For maximum results take a hot, steamy shower. Simply unwrap & toss the shower fizzy on the floor to the back of your shower, out of the stream of water. You want it to slowly fizz during your shower, rather than quickly run down your drain. It’s like your personal little aromatherapy room, the steamier the better!

I thought that this was really cool. Usually it is all about bath bombs, but it is nice that they have something for the shower too! I really do like the scent. It is pretty strong in the package and right away in the shower, but after that is it a very nice amount of scent. This scent smells very woodsy, but it is a good woodsy.

Item #6 “Golden Boy” Bath Bomb $5.99

Ahhh Finnick, Finnick, Finnick. We love you. We love your muscles, your loyalty, your heart, your sense of humor aaaannnnd your muscles. (ooops! did I already say that?) Oh, and your sugar cubes.A deliciously light and creamy scent of fluffy white whipped cream, warmed with the sweetness of dark vanilla.

With this came 8 mini fizzy sugar cubes and they do smell divine! It smells like cake in my opinion because of the vanilla scent and the whipped cream. I have not tried this product yet. It wasn’t necessarily what I was thinking that they would look like. They look more golden and much better in the picture than they do in real life. It just looks like a sugar cube in real life.

Item #7 “Marry Me?” Bath Bomb $7.99

Just like Katniss – as this unique bath bomb twirls and fizzes out, it reveals a majestic, and strong Mocking Jay shaped soap inside. Brilliant, right?! A complex and unique scent with sweet bergamot, citron & fresh pear. This is one of those tricky scents that you catch different notes every time you smell it! A fresh, gentle breeze crowned with delicate violets sitting on a delicate base of soft sandalwood.

I have not tried this product yet, but I am excited to try it out! I will post a video or picture on it later if you want me to. Comment down below if you would like to see the Mocking Jay shaped soap inside. When I opened this I wasn’t that excited about it because it looks like a giant sugar cube in the shape of a diamond and the picture on the website made it look so much better. But, I did not realize until writing this post that there would be the Mocking Jay soap inside so now I am glad that I got this product. It does smell really good. It smells sweet and woodsy with some floral notes.

Item #8 “Silver Parachute” Shampoo Bar $8.99

Salty…..gritty…..ocean. For this collection we went with bold, intense fragrances. This ocean scent is unlike anything we’ve ever used before. It’s tide pools and cold rocky beaches strewn with driftwood. A breath of fresh, clean salty ozone. Notes of watery greens are surrounded by swirling white musk and the gentlest touch of vetiver.

I have tried Lush shampoo bars before and I really like them. They’re perfect for traveling. This shampoo bar smells like the ocean. I really do like the scent. It’s not too overpowering. It will be interesting to try this shampoo bar out. Hopefully it will give me luscious golden locks like the girls in hair care commercials (umm yeah right to the models actually using the shampoo being advertised)!

Item # 8 “Nuts & Volts” Fortune Cookie Soap $3.79

Quite unexpectedly…Nuts and Volts found a way into our hearts.

Bright verbena & Sicilian lemon, crowned with jasmine, and creamy helitrope, darkened with amber, white musk, & precious woods.

First off, where is the “Quarter Quell” packaging sticker. This sticker is just generic which makes me sad because what if I wanted to give this one away as a gift. They wouldn’t even know what collection this soap belongs to. This is probably my least favorite scent. I still like it, but it isn’t my favorite. It is a scent that is hard to describe but it smells woodsy and musky. I also can smell the amber notes. It also comes with a fortune inside stating, “Stupid people are dangerous.” That is an interesting fortune to get, but I guess that it is true.

My overall thoughts…

What I like about this collection? I felt like they had a wide variety of products. As you can see in the photo above, there were many items that I did not get.

What could have been better? I did like the stickers that they added to the packaging, but I wish that all the bath bombs, soaps, etc came in something other than a white sleeve. I guess I’m not really sure what they could have done instead, but when I tried opening it either the sticker ripped or the white bag ripped. But, that isn’t too big of an issue because that just means it’s bath time!

Bonus: The Wizarding Collection

Also in this package I got these 2 items from the, “Wizard Collection.” They had this promo (I think I saw it on Facebook) where certain discontinued items could be added to the cart and it lasted 48 hours, these items became, well, “undead,” in FCS’s own words. My point is that they always have really cool collections. Before the, “Quarter Quell” collection they had a “Once Upon a Time.” Coming soon! Unboxing and review of the Winter Soap Box: The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m excited!!!

That concludes this post. I hope you enjoyed reading about my addiction to FCS and their awesome collections. Also, let me know what you think of this collection. Also, are you a fan of the “Hunger Games” movies?
