My US/UK Box Swap with The Little Scottish Corner!

Jacquelyn from the amazing blog, “The Little Scottish Corner” and I decided that we would do a box swap. We had been talking about doing one for awhile and the time has finally come. It of course, takes forever to send international packages, but it actually came faster than I expected. I hate the wait and the agony on wondering if the contents sent will make it over the ocean without being broken by the postal service. Also, make sure to check out her blog here and check out all the items that I sent her!

Yay! Bubble wrap! Thankfully, both our packages made it to each other in one piece. 😀

My initial reaction! :O Jacquelyn sure got me a lot of candy! She must know that I have a sweet tooth!

Aren’t you just mesmerized by this picture?!? So many yummy goodies! I got quite a variety here. She sent me a bunch of amazing deliciousness from: Cadbury, Throntons, Green & Blacks, Hotel Chocolat, M&S, and many more. I will be doing a review on all these goodies once I eat them all up. I really wish that we had Percy Pigs in the US, they’re so yummy. Jacquelyn even got me the panda version of Percy Pigs because she knows how much I love pandas. 🙂

Jacquelyn sure took the time to individually wrap each item in adorable wrapping paper. Also, more bubble wrap. 😀

If you have been following my blog, you know that I love makeup palettes. Eyeshadow is my favorite makeup item and I love playing with the variety of colors and finishes. I was really excited to see a palette from Barry M because I hear a lot of good things about this brand. This smokey palette is called Smokin’ Hot Shadow & Blush Palette. Jacquelyn stated she wanted to include something for all seasons. 🙂 The second palette I got was from the new makeup brand called Makeup Revolution. Jacquelyn says that this is a new brand sold in the UK. This palette has an amazing array of colors, and I can’t wait to use it.  My last box swap that I did was with Stephanie Wright here on WordPress and she sent me a Sleek palette as well. I requested another Sleek palette in my box swap with Jacquelyn and she got me the Garden of Eden, which is gorgeous!!!

I, of course, will be doing reviews on these lovelies!

In the UK, they call them blushers instead of blush, which I find rather intriguing.  I got a Makeup Revolution blusher in a gorgeous pinky shade called Wow! Also, a blush BY 3 by the brand Sleek in Pumpkin. I have a coral blusher from Sleek that I adore that I got from Effie, and I was super stoked to get this blush BY 3 palette from Jacquelyn.

I was super excited to receive something from MUA, because I have seen many posts reviewing this brand. I got a MUA Power Pout Colour Intense Tint & Balm in Broken Hearted. These remind of the Clinique and Revlon chubby sticks. I really do enjoy chubby sticks because I think that they’re easier to apply than a lipstick. I also got a Makeup Revolution lipstick in the shade Encore.

More Makeup Goodies…

I was excited to receive the Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals Foil Finish in Emerald Goddess because these remind me of the Stila foil finish metals. Stila charges an arm and a leg for their foil finish metal eyeshadows, so I have never tried those out. So these are a lot cheaper and I can’t wait to try them out. I do love the color green Jacquelyn, so no worries! I also got the Makeup Revolution Pure Pigment in Rivalry which is a gorgeous green shade. Since I have never really tried either one of these kinds of products before, it will be a makeup adventure that I look forward to checking out.

I was excited to receive another shade of the Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil by Collection. I got the shade Vanilla Sky, which is very pretty and will make for a great base. I have the color Vintage Blush as well from my box swap with Effie.

This eyeliner pencil by MUA in Turquoise will be a fun summery shade. I will have to use this fun shade for a pop of color. I really like that it has a built in sharpener as well. 🙂

Another item I got is from Makeup Revolution and it is The ONE Concealer. This concealer reminds me a lot of the one from Benefit with the concealer in the middle surrounded by a hydration part. My under eyes get dry so I was excited to receive this. 🙂

I suffer from lashes that don’t like to curl, so I was super excited to try out this doll’d UP mascara by Seventeen. It promises to hold up to a 24 hour curl. I will put this mascara to the test! Probably not all 24 hours. The packaging is adorable!

I got 2 items from the brand Sanctuary Spa which I can’t wait to use. The Intensive Shine Hair Butter looks amazing and I am really excited to try it out because my hair has been dry lately. Also, I am excited to try the salt scrub, because working as a nurse, I get a lot of dead skin on my hands, so this will hopefully  make them nice and smooth.

This is a homemade soap from Jacquelyn that she made with her mum. I thought it was super sweet of her to send along in our box swap because homemade things are always the best. I did read her post about this as well. It does smell lovely and smells very natural as well.

Oh how sweet of Jacquelyn to think of my hands. I can’t wait to try out this tea tree & peppermint deep moisturising hand pack. This sound lovely! Also, an Argan Oil deep moisturising  foot pack! 🙂 My heels always get so dry with working on my feet all the time at work. I am super ecstatic to try these out!

Yay a nail cream! I got the Elemis Sp@ home nail and hand cream. Anything to help my nails! They’re so fragile from all the constant hand washing at work. My hands get super dry as well so I look forward to using this as a hand cream as well. Jacquelyn states that it is used in a lot of spas. Also, she sent me an eye cream by Vitamin E Skin Care. Can’t wait to try this out as well because I always have a hard time finding an eye cream that is actually worthwhile.

This Apricot Exfoliating Mask looks amazing. Jacquelyn says that this is one of her favorite face masks so I can’t wait to try it out. I can’t wait to open it up and smell the scent of apricots.

How sweet of Jacquelyn!! She said that since I was close to my nieces that I could use these Nail Rock designs from Frou Frou on their nails. How cute!!! It comes with a bunch of different little adorable bears.

A LITTLE EXTRA… Look at the adorable cat key chain and the cute little lion eraser. So cute!

My explanation letter of all the products included! Such cute stationary! 🙂

Thank you so much Jacquelyn for all the amazing products that you sent me! I had so much fun doing this box swap with you! It was a lot of fun picking out each individual item to send you.  🙂 I so far have tried most of the makeup products sent and have a ton more items left to try! I will be posting reviews off and on from this box swap! Comment and let me know what you would like me to review first. Once again, thanks Jacquelyn for all the wonderful goodies! Box Swap Review Item #1: Barry M Lip Paint

It was a very hard decision on what product to review first from my box swap from Stephanie Wright. She sent me a bunch of makeup/skincare goodies and I did the same. It has been a lot of fun trying out all the products she sent me. Well, now it is time for a review. I was excited to receive a Barry M product, because I’ve heard good things about this brand by reading blog posts. Most of the posts I’ve seen have been nail polishes, but still I was curious.  When I opened up this item I was happy because, I had in my possession an item from Barry M.  Opening this package, I felt like it was Christmas all over again!

Be hold readers….Barry M Lip Paint

What Barry M says, “There is a shade to suit every occasion from soft, shimmering pastels to bold, vibrant colours. All Lip Paint’s have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturisers to help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours.” Information from their website here

While opening the plastic off the lip paint, I was thinking, “Yay! I’m excited! Hmmmmm, I wonder what color Effie got me.” Actually, I was saying that out loud, because I was with my mom when I was opening my lovely package.

Be hold…The color!

IT’S GREEN!!! If I had a camera for the look on my mom’s face that would be priceless. I was thinking, “Oh ok, I’ll have to think of a creative Halloween costume, I don’t think I will sport this as an everyday look.” I’ll have to use my Urban Decay Theordora palette and use my green eye-shadows along side this new lip paint and transform myself into the Wicked Witch. Now that I am thinking about this movie, I’m very tempted to go watch it.

It’s green, yet it’s pink in my swatch! How cool is that?!? The shade is called, Touch of Magic. So I realized at that moment, I could use it other than just for Halloween, and sighed a moment of relief. I don’t know if the green lipstick look would look very good on me. I would describe the color as a watermelon shade.

Here is a picture of my first time trying it.

I decided to put it on my lips and it started out as a watermelon shade and kept getting darker and darker. I wasn’t that careful applying it either so when it got darker it didn’t look as crisp. But, lesson learned *spend more time applying it. Hey, I was excited and wanted to try it right away!

When I was opening the plastic wrap off the lipstick, I didn’t even pay attention to the sticker on the bottom of the tube. I was still unprepared for the green! When looking at lipstick colors, I usually like looking at the lipstick itself before I look at the stickers because I guess it leaves open an element of surprise like this one did. (Unless I’m at a store that doesn’t have displays.)

What Barry M says about Touch of Magic, “Waterproof formula with aloe vera, lasts up to 8 hours. Alkali level of your lips determines how pink the colour will go.”

I must have a high Alkali level because my lips got pretty bold. I liked the color, it just took a bit to get used to because I don’t wear bold lips too often. But, it is something different and I like trying different. The fact that it changes to the wearer’s alkaline level is clever and a nifty idea.

Some things I noticed…

If my lips are dry in some parts, it applies very streaky. I used my Lush lip scrub and afterwards it was much better. So another lesson learned *dry patches have a higher alkaline levels.

It doesn’t smell like watermelon. I think it should because it reminds me of one!

The lasting power is amazing! It lasted pretty much all day. I put it on for the fun of it one night after supper/few hours before bed, and I’m being totally honest it still had some color when I woke up the next morning. It also lasts after eating!

Overall, this was a really fun surprise! It is fun to see how bold my lips will get when wearing this. I think it is so cool that a green lipstick turns pink! I also showed this to my grandma, “Effie, she wondered how often you wore green lipstick?” Comment down below if you have tried any Barry M products or if you have tried this lip paint where green is the new pink! Thank you Effie for the lovely lip paint.

US/UK Box Swap with Stephanie Wright

A few days ago I got a lovely package in the mail that totally made my day!!! Stephanie Wright from the UK and I decided to send each other makeup and candy through a box swap. Make sure to go check out her blog too because she will be doing a post on all the goodies I sent her. You can find her blog here. The hardest part of this was the waiting and hoping that the boxes would make it to each other without being lost or destroyed. Nobody likes broken eye shadows!! Good news!! Both our packages made it there without any trouble! So now for the fun part!!!! Continue reading to see all the exciting products that I got!

Here is the card that was included in my box. It was very sweet of her to include it! By the way, yes we do call it the Sorcerer’s Stone instead of the Philosopher’s Stone!!! I really don’t understand why. Effie also shared this fun fact with me regarding chapter 1. Apparently Dumbledore offers a Sherbert Lemon (a candy I will describe below that was included in my box) to Professor McGonagall.  I did not remember that, but I will be digging out my book very soon!

The overview of all my goodies!!!

The items in the adorable elephant tissue paper. Fun fact of the day: apparently elephant’s pregnancies last 22 months! That is almost 2 years!

Soap & Glory Endless Glove
I was really excited to see this in my box because my hands have been awful this year! They have been so dry and my knuckles have been cracking  open like crazy. It makes me sad when they say, “they can determine a women’s age by the look of her hands.” Well then I must be over retirement age! Lol just kidding! Effie and I had a conversation about how bad my hands were so it makes me smile that she thought about giving me this product. I’ve never tried anything from this brand, so I was excited to give it a try with all the good reviews about it. Sephora recently got a few items in from this brand, but I have never seen this before.  I have tried this hand cream a few times already, but I won’t share with you what I think of it quite yet. Review to come!!

Sleek i-Divine Palette in Storm
One request that I had for my box was that I wanted to try some products from Sleek. I have heard so much about their eye shadows and I knew I had to try them! I have surfed their website and looked at all their palettes, and I have to say that Storm was one of my favorites. I wasn’t exactly sure which palette she would end up sending me, but I was super happy to see it when I ribbed off the cute little elephant tissue paper. Once again, I’m not going to tell you what I thought of this palette until my review.

The colors include: neutrals, blues, a green, and a few others. There are also a few matte shadows. Can’t wait to write my review on this gem!

Sleek Blusher
I think it is so cool that in the UK they call it blusher. That is way cooler than just calling it blush. Lol! I was excited to try out another Sleek product. I got my blusher in the shade coral which will be a nice addition to my blush collection. I don’t really have a shade like this so I’m happy!

I decided to be nice and show you all a swatch even before my actual review on this blusher! 🙂

Barry M Lip Paint
I have seen many reviews from this brand (most of them being nail polish), so I was pretty excited to recieve a lipstick to try out. I’m not going to tell you more than that because well…you will just have to wait for my review!!!

Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil by Collection
This reminded me of the Nyx jumbo pencils that I use as bases under my eye shadows. I am really excited to try this out and see how it works as a base and as an eye shadow. It is in the color vintage blush.

Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner by Collection
I received this felt tip eyeliner in the color black. I am very excited to try this eyeliner out because, getting the perfect felt tip eyeliner has always been a challenge. I have a few felt tip eyeliners, so I am excited to see how this one compares. Stay tuned for a review!

Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer by Collection
I was very happy to receive this concealer because I am always on the hunt for a better concealer. I have dark under eyes and I want something that will help hide those. The color I got is in the shade cool medium which seems perfect for my skin tone! 🙂

I have a pretty big sweet tooth so, of course, I thought it would be cool to include candy. I’m glad that I recommended to Effie that we include candy, because who doesn’t love candy?! Except maybe dentists!

Percy Pigs
Effie had asked me about these little candies and after she talked about them I decided to visit Google! They are so adorable!!! I bite off their ears first and then finish with the face just as she recommended! I really loved these! They were fruity and delicious!!!!

Aren’t they adorable?!?

In case you didn’t know what an empty Percy Pig bag looked like.

Thorntons Strawberry Marbled Buttons
One of the first things that I saw when I opened my package was this! If you know me, you may know that I am obsessed with panda bears. I don’t know if Effie planned it or not, but I say kudos to Thorntons for making an adorable panda on their packaging. I have never had anything from Thorntons, but I was super excited to try them. They’re just like little creme discs that taste like strawberries. If I want something sweet, I can pop a few into my mouth to satisfy my sweet tooth. I might also throw a few of the candy talked about below in my mouth afterwards.

Thorntons Milk Chocolate Buttons
This is the same concept as the candy described above, but this time with milk chocolate and a cute little crocodile or an alligator. Not sure which one it is. I, one time, held a little crocodile. Good thing his mouth was held shut because they said that they don’t eat for months at a time. So that little guy was probably hungry and I’m sure my arm was looking mighty tasty at that time. Comment down below if you want me to post a picture.

Sherbet Lemons
In the US, we have something called lemon drops. They are very similar, except these are way better. The inside of these yummy lemon candies is fizzy which makes them mighty good! My grandma is always eating lemon drops so I gave her one of these to try and she thought they were yummy! My mom and dad also approve of these!

Rhubarb & Custard
I just opened this hard candy today and popped one into my mouth. At first I wasn’t sure if I was liking it, but then I realized that it was becoming more delicious as time went on. I felt like, at first, I was just mostly tasting the custard, and then after awhile, the flavors mixed making it yummy.

I’m saving the best candy for last!

Thortons Chocolates
I was excited to see these because I love my chocolate! I got 3 different kinds, and I was nice enough to share a bite with my mom and dad, so we all got a taste.

Viennese Continental: Light chocolate mousse in a special blend of white and milk chocolate
I was in chocolate heaven eating this! It was so delicious! I really love the taste of the blended chocolate. The inside was also amazing with its decadent mousse. It also seemed to have sea salt on top which made it even more yummy! If I am ever near a Thortons shop, I will be stopping in!

Alpini Continental: deliciously nutty praline in milk chocolate
If I had the ability to rewind and relive the moment while trying this chocolate bar, I would. It was that delicious in my mind! I liked it even more than the first one and that is saying a lot! It just had a lot of milk chocolately nutty goodness!

Sicilian Lemon Continental: zesty lemon mouse in white and milk chocolate
This was my least favorite, although it was still good. The lemon mousse was sure zesty. I would have to say that this is the prettiest of them all.

Overall, I was quite happy with the makeup and skincare goodies and sweet tooth yummies that I got in my blog swap! I hope that you tune in to see my reviews on all the makeup and skincare items! Also, don’t forgot to check out Effie’s blog and see what I sent her! Comment down below and let me know if you have tried any of these products! Also, I plan on doing a post about my experiences with doing a international box swap. That will be coming soon! Comment and let me know which product you would like me to review first!
