Beauty of Beauty 2014: Part 3 Lips, Brushes, Nails, and Body Butters

Here is part 3 of my Best of Beauty and it includes a lot of goodies such as: lipsticks, lipglosses, lip balms, nail polishes, and much more!

LIPS

Lipstick

Lush Fresh Handmade Colour Lipstick in Perspective

wpid-wp-1423772266442.jpeg

I tend to not wear much lipsticks, because I am more of a lip-gloss junkie. But, I still wanted to include my favorite for this year! I also don’t go for bold lips which is why I went with a dusky rose shade. This is a very wear-able shade for me. The lipstick is very pigmented and very creamy. You can check out my review on it here.

Lip-Glosses & Lip Tints

The Balm Read my Lips Lip Gloss in the shade Zaap!

I love this lipgloss! It’s creamy and pigmented! It is not sticky which is a big pro for me! It also smells amazing too! I love the shade Zaap as it gives color to the lips, but it is still wearable. It is also buildable so you can have it as sheer as you want or more opaque. I posted an Instagram picture below of me wearing the lip-gloss.

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Hypnotist

This lip-gloss is a very unique shade because it is a holographic violet peach. It looks pretty amazing in the tube, but on the lips it is more natural looking. It does give the lips a gorgeous shimmery look. I love the feel of this gloss on the lips because it is creamy and smooth. There is no stickiness!

Pacifica Lip Quench Lip Tint in Guava Berry

image

This lip tint it an everyday product for me! This is a holy-grail lip product for me as well! I love that it is natural and cruelty free! These come in quite a few different colors and shades, but my favorite is Guava Berry. These give such a gorgeous natural tint to the lips. I did a full review on these and you can check that out here.

Lip Balms

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15

I always get super dry lips during the winter months. I am able to find a lot of moisturizing lip products, but a lot of them don’t last long. Well, I have good news for this product! This is not only moisturizing, but it lasts a long time on the lips. I feel like it actually helps the lips as well and makes them more softer instead of masking the dry lips like other products. I have the non-tinted one, but they do have quite a range of shades. The 2 things that I am not a fan about is that it get used up pretty fast and the price tag!

Glo-Minerals The Cherry Balm SPF 15 Moisture Treatment

When I use this lip balm, people think it is a glue stick or something, because of the size of this thing. But, I promise this product is amazing! What is not to love? It smells like Cherry! Yum! It also is super moisturizing and it lasts on the lips for a long time as well! Glo Minerals is also a more natural brand so they try to stay away from those icky ingredients!

Both of these lip balms have been helping my lips survive winter!

NAILS

Sally Hanson Miracle Gel Nail Polish
image

I have found something that lasts on my fingernails for longer than 1 day! Alleluia! It doesn’t last as long as it promises, but I can get about 5 days to a week without it chipping. In reality that isn’t that great, but Julep, Essie, OPI, Formula X and all the other famous polishes chip honestly in less than 24 hours on my nails! This polish doesn’t need a lamp light, but it cures by natural light. It is a 2 step process: the polish and then the top coat. Easy as cake! I also love the brush! It is wider and coats the nails in only a few strokes! I have gotten quite a few polishes from the collection as you can see above!

Jamberry Nails!
image

I accumulated quite the Jamberry nails over this year because #1 2014 was the year of learning about Jamberry nails and what they are, #2 I got invited to a million parties, #3 I had my own party. Jamberry nails are vinyl nail wraps applied with heat for those of who you haven’t heard of them. They take awhile to apply,  but once they’re applied, no waiting for nail polish to dry! 🙂 They also have an amazing array of designs and colors. They don’t chip! They last a long time as well!

BRUSHES & BRUSH CLEANER
Sigma Brushes & Glo-Minerals Brush Cleaner

image

image

I love my Sigma brushes! My two favorites brushes of this year include the E71 and the E45. I always have a harder time with blending shadows in the crease and I love both these brushes for just that. They have both helped my makeup application quite a bit. The E45 is a smaller blending brush which I feel is a good size for my eye area. The E71 has a different shape, but I love to add the crease shade to my crease using this brush. I love using the Glo-Minerals brush cleaner for a quick clean. All you need is this spray and a kleenex or paper towel. It only takes 1-2 sprays and it disinfects the brush and removes the makeup off of the brush as well. I recently got a brush cleaner from Blvd Cosmetics that I have been using for a more intense clean. My first impression of that brush cleaner was two thumps up.

PERFUME

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream and Honey

image

I love the Marc Jacobs packaging for his perfumes, but they’re so expensive! So instead I got some rollerballs of his. I got Daisy Dream and Honey. I love both of them! Daisy Dream is more of a clean scent and Honey is more of a fruity scent. I just think that they both really smell amazing! They also last pretty long compared to my other perfumes I own.

SKINCARE

The Body Shop Body Butters
image

I started using The Body Shop in 2014 and I am glad I did because I love their body butters. My skin is very dry, especially during Winter. I can’t just use a lotion, I need a body butter during those months. The Body Shop has an amazing array of scent choices to pick from. They always come out with new scents and limited edition scents here and there. My favorite has to be the raspberry one, but I can only find that one online right now. I also really like the new Argan Oil one. That one has a more subtle scent. The strawberry one is divine as well. I am using the apple limited edition one from this past Christmas right now and love it! You get the point, The Body Shop has a ton of scents to choose from. I love how moisturizing these body butters are and they keep my skin moisturized for a long time!

That concludes my post for the Best of Beauty for 2014. Make sure to check out my 2 previous posts to find out what other goodies I loved during 2014. Comment and let me know if you have tried any of these products! Once again, sorry that this post is so late! Hope you all are having a wonderful beginning of 2015!

Beauty Blogger Collaboration: Makeup Through The Ages -1960

1907337_10201859612924643_1540852947928680308_n

Do you see the title of this blog collaboration?!?! I am beyond ecstatic to be doing this wonderful “Makeup Through the Ages” post with a bunch of other amazing beauty bloggers from all over the world! Awhile back I had asked my followers to take part in this awesome collaboration with me!  🙂 As you may know, makeup has changed quite a bit throughout time. Our blog collaboration will take our readers on a journey through the ages starting with Egyptians, skipping numerous years, then the roaring 1920s to present day, and then of course futuristic! I can’t wait to see what all the other ladies came up with!

My Decade

Untitled

I picked the 1960s for a couple of reasons! I love the music! I am a big classic rock fan. I love the song, “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. I posted a YouTube video just in case you have never heard of it! I, of course, also loved THE BEATLES! They’re one of my favorite bands!

A Little History Lesson!

1960 JFK (John F. Kennedy) beats Richard Nixon in the presidential election to become the 35th US President. The book “To Kill a Mockingbird” was published.
1961 “West Side Story” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” comes to the big screen.
1962 Marilyn Monroe dies of an overdose. World wide television and cable became a reality. Eleanor Roosevelt dies. My amazing mum is born!
1963 The Beatles take Britain by storm. JFK is assassinated. My amazing dad is born!
1964 Bob Dylan becomes popular. Color television! The first primetime Soap Opera “Peyton Place” appears on television. Martin Luther King Jr. gets the Nobel Peace Prize.
1965 “The Sound of Music” premieres. Martin Luther King Jr. works on the Voting Rights Act.
1966 The first “Star Trek” episode aires. Walt Disney dies.
1967 PBS is created. “The Jungle Book” comes out.
1968 “60 Minutes” first airs. The movie rating system starts (PG, PG-13, Rated R, etc.) Martin Luther King Jr. dies.
1969 “Sesame Street” was born. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon.

Information found here and here.

The 1960s Beauty Trends

I did do some research online, but I got most of my information from my grandparents who grew up in the 1960s.

  • Dramatic makeup looks.
  • Pedal Pushers! Which in today’s age are known as capris.
  • The mini skirt makes its way into fashion!
  • Big Hair!!!! Lots of volume! Remember the movie “Hairspray” and their crazy volume?!? That takes place in the 1960s.
  • A lot of black liner!
  • Cut creases (mostly used black)
  • Nude lips also became popular in the 1960s. But, my grandma said that in the early 1960s, red lips were super popular!
  • Colorful eye looks!
  • Thick full lashes on both the bottom and top as worn by Twiggy in the 1960s.
  • The Nurses hat! (So glad I don’t have to wear that in my nursing career)!

MAKEUP

When I first decided I was going to do the decade of the 1960s, I of course, wanted to do a blue eye-shadow look because it just screams the 1960s in my opinion. When I was talking to my grandmas, they both said blue eye-shadow was the craze. I have never done a cut crease, so my look is going to be a little softer than the Twiggy version of a cut crease with an intense black line.

IMG_20140615_173912281

I love my Nyx Jumbo pencil in milk because it definitely helps eyeshadows pop, especially a blue shade. I layered that on top of my Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer. The white base does not need to be perfect because, well, it will be turning blue here soon…

primer

I recently got the Mac Fix+ because I visited my first ever Mac store and felt like this was a good purchase. Basically, I sprayed my eyeshadow brush with this Mac Fix+ to moisten it and that helped make the shadow more pigmented and  give it a more harsh look.

perfect duo

There I am adding the crazy blue shadow single which is from the amazing brand of Urban Decay and in the shade Peace. I recently got a new makeup mirror, as you can see in the photo, and I love it! I will be doing a post on that sometime soon.

blue shadow

I never ever wear winged eyeliner, so I’ll be honest, this was really new to me. Therefore, ….. TAPE! I applied tape so I would get it even. Placement of the winged eyeliner is supposed to follow the bottom lash line into a wing. But, before you add fresh tape onto your poor little delicate under eyes, put it on your hand first to take away some of the stickiness. I used 2 different eyeliners for this look. The first one I used is by Collection and it is their 24 hour felt tip eyeliner. I used that along the lashline and the wing (basically the whole eyeliner part). The second eyeliner was just a little blacker, so I added that eyeliner on top of the one from Collection. That eyeliner is from The Balm and it is their Schwing liquid eyeliner.

eyeliner

This was probably the hardest part of the look. Making it look like a “cut crease.” As you can see in the photo, I just took the shade Blackout and applied it in the crease. I did blend it a little bit so it isn’t quite the same as Twiggy. But, you get the point. I also applied some Blackout shadow under my lash line as well.

adding in the black

Time for mascara! I decided to try the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara. I really wanted dark voluminous lashes and I didn’t want to have to put fakes ones on, so this was the next best thing.

macara

I wanted to add a little shimmer to my look, therefore, The Balm’s Overshadow in Work is OverRated comes to the stage.

finishing touch

Apparently in the 1960’s a lot of people would shave off their eyebrows and draw them on. They did draw them in on the heavier side and more of a straight line. Yeah, I’m not going to do that.

brows

I used the products that I usually use from day to day. In the 1960s they liked more of a matte over a dewy finish. I used Porefessional from Benefit for a primer. Then, my tarte Amazonian clay foundation in Light Sand. Finally, I finished off with my bareMinerals Mineral Veil powder.

face

Time for some bronzer, highlighter, and some blush. I hardly ever wear bronzer, ever! But, I decided to use my Pur Minerals Mineral Glow. The highlighter I used is the famous Mary-Lou Manizer from The Balm. In the 1960s they wore a lot of coral blush. Hence, I thought that my Sleek blush in the shade coral would be perfect to add to this look.

bronzer

I really wish that I would have worn a nude lipstick, because I have the perfect one. I did wear a red lipstick because my grandma had said that in the early 1960s, red was popular and that during that time they came out with more shades: nudes, pinks, etc. I just finally had a reason to wear a red lipstick. I used my Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in the shade Theodora. I got it in my Theodora palette from The Great and Powerful Oz.

HAIR

1) In the 1960s, they wore a lot of hair accessories. So I decided to use my headband (from Maurices) for some extra 1960s style. I just parted my hair on the side and put the headband into place. Then I combed back the rest of the hair that was behind the headband.
2) Since they ratted their hair a lot to get extreme volume I decided to try this voluminizing powder from Not Your Mothers. It did work pretty well, because I was able to comb through my ratted hair with no difficulty. Do not try ratting your hair without using a powder like this, otherwise it will be a snarly mess.
3) After applying the powder in the roots, I took a comb and started ratting.
4) For some extra volume I decided to have a little mini bun that the ratted hair from step 3 will cover.
5) I just continued to rat all my hair around the headband, until it looked something like this…
6) Pin back the hair with a bobby pin making sure to cover the bun. I did have a flower clip that I placed over the bobby pins. You will be able to see it in the photos below.

THE COMPLETED LOOK

This is my completed look. I really like that it looks very 1960s. Comment if you agree?!? This eye look is obviously not an everyday look, but they sure loved their blue eyeshadow back then.

completed makeup

FASHION

This is probably where I had the most fun with this collaboration. Picking out my outfit!! I feel like the neckline of the shirt I’m wearing is perfect! In the 1960s they wore a lot of rounded collar necklines, whether it be a shirt or a dress, that style was in. It is also a perfect blue shade! I of course spotted this shirt at Maurices. No surprise there! My pedal pushers or capris (whatever you prefer to call them) are also from Maurices. They didn’t usually wear blue jean pedal pushers (like in today’s age), but more khaki or colorful ones instead. My black flats I have had forever, but I’m 99.9% sure I got them at Famous Footwear. My necklace I felt was very fitting for this decade with the silver hoops. That is from the jewelry company, “Premier Designs.” Both my earrings and bracelet are from Maurices. They would wear big hoop earrings, but this was the most dangly earring I had.

SOME SHIBA INU LOVE…
Since hardly anybody has heard of a Shiba Inu in today’s age, I’m sure Shiba Inus were quite rare then. But, that didn’t stop me from taking some photos with my pup Mirya! She is so photogenic!

shiba

That concludes this post! I hope that you enjoyed reading it. Let me know what you think of my makeup, hair, and outfit. I had a lot of fun doing this. Doing 1960s makeup and hair isn’t the easiest, so I am glad that I don’t have to rat my hair like they did back in the day. Also, so glad that I don’t have to wear those white nurses hats. Make sure to check out all the other lovely ladies’ posts that are part of this.

March Ipsy Glam Bag: Destination Beauty

I can’t believe it is already time for March’s Ipsy bag post! I am still in shock that it is March of 2014 and that means it will soon be April. But, that just means nice weather is coming?!? Here in Minnesota we had a few days of snow melting and 50 degree weather (which I call no jacket weather). Hello Spring!!! Then on Tuesday a snow storm! Come back Spring! My niece’s school was canceled again! This has been a horrible winter. Even my elderly patients at work who have gone through many winters have said that this one just keeps going and going and going! This has been one of the coldest winters that I remember! Sorry for my little rant, but it was well needed!

20140319-152303.jpg

No jacket! Decided to check out the Sugar Shack of Alex.

20140319-152311.jpg

Melting snow! You can see grass! Well…brown grass.

20140319-152322.jpg

Yay it’s melting!!!

Well all that brown grass is now covered with snow again. I am also sporting my winter jacket again.

Onto the fun part!!!

20140319-151911.jpg

I’m not really a fan of this month’s bag. I like that it is vinyl and can easily be cleaned if there is a spill (considering this month’s theme is destination beauty). I’m not a fan of the print. It is just too weird and out there for me. I have seen much better Ipsy bags. I think that they could have done something better for this month’s theme.

20140319-151918.jpg

Apparently, this print was exclusive to Ipsy, well… sorry Klari Reis, but I’m not a fan.

20140319-151924.jpg

This month’s Ipsy came with 4 items, usually there is 5-6.

20140319-151931.jpg

Item #1 Love in Rio Eye Shadow Trio  by Nyx
What Ipsy says, “Escape to Rio…if only with your eyes. Inspired by the non-stop action of this exotic city, these 3-color eye shadow palettes give you high-glam, go-anywhere intensity day and night thanks to their highly pigmented formulations. Hit the beach in natural nudes, then dance the night away with a shimmering sweep of juicy color from the dual-ended applicator. “

Let’s just say I would love to visit Rio one day! That would be so much fun! But, I was bummed to see this palette in my bag. I got Cabana Boy as my trio. Not because I have anything against Nyx or their eye shadows. I actually think that Nyx is a nice affordable brand. I do like their makeup but, I already have a palette of theirs like this. It isn’t exact, but would be duplicate shadow colors for me. I really wanted to get the other more colorful palette. I have not opened this one so I will not be showing you swatches. I plan on giving this trio away.

20140319-151937.jpg

Item #2 Marvelous Moxie Lipstick  by bareMinerals
What Ipsy says, “Make an impact with Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick. Creamy, super-saturated, ultra-pigmented color glides on like butter for full coverage in a rich satin finish. Lips look fuller and more voluptuous. An infusion of minerals revitalizes lips for a healthy-looking pout, while a moisture-loaded hydrating complex helps to nourish and condition with Abyssinian Oil and Omega Fatty Acids for supple, baby-soft smoothness. All the while, an encapsulated vitamin A, C and E complex helps to deliver antioxidant defense, so you’re ready for anything—and everything. Learn more about Marvelous Moxie™ “

I was really excited to receive this little lipstick! It is adorable! I’ve also never really tried many bareMinerals products so this was a definite must! I got the color, Get Ready, which I find to be a perfect pink. I’m not big on wearing bold lips so this is the perfect color for me. I also think  it is perfect for Spring and Summer! I’ve used it a few times and so far I think that the application is easy, it feels smooth on the lips, and isn’t drying.

20140319-151948.jpg

20140319-151954.jpg

Item #3 Flawless Beauty Primer by Pixi
What Ipsy says, “The Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer is loaded with skin loving ingredients. Formula contains powerful anti-aging and skin fortifying benefits. Formula suitable for all skin types.”

I have been using the Porefessional primer from Benefit which I have been really liking. It will be interesting to see how this one compares. On the back of the product is promises a youthful glow so it will be interesting to see how it performs. It also promises even skin-tone and hydration. I did swatch it on my hand, and it did give a little bit of a shimmer effect.

20140319-151943.jpg

Item #4 Indigo Blue Eyeliner by Chella
What Ipsy says, “Experience Chella’s Eyeliner Pen, a formula so incredible and surprising it almost describes itself. Highly innovative, never-done before – this pigmented, non-staining eyeliner ink provides a sleek, high-intensity eye make-up that lasts all day. This silky eyeliner glides on to define, emphasize and embolden with long lasting vibrant color that stays on until you want it gone!”

Here is another item that I could have gone without, because I don’t generally use blue liquid eyeliner. I will still try it at least. I’ll admit that it is a very pretty blue, I’m just not sure if I could sport the blue eyeliner look. I would have rather received a different item such as the nail polish. But, oh well!

20140319-151959.jpg

20140319-152005.jpg

Overall, I thought my Ipsy bag was ok. I am excited about the lipstick and the Pixi primer, but the other items, not so much.

If I had my choice my bag would look like this….

Monthly Favorites: February 2014

Well we’re almost a week into March and I have yet to post my monthly favorites for February. I still decided that I wanted to share this post with you! February went by way too fast! I can’t believe it’s March!

20140305-163739.jpg

PALETTES

20140305-163746.jpg

1) Naked 3
Surprise! Who would have guessed that this palette would be in my monthly favorites?!? I absolutely love it! Rose gold neutrals were perfect for February. I did do a review and comparison on this palette, along with the other 2 Naked palettes. Check it out here.

2) Sigma Beauty Warm Neutral Palette
This month I was also loving this palette! I think it has amazing colors! It was featured on my recent blog hop (5 items I would bring on a last minute road trip). I just really think that Sigma’s eye shadows improved with this palette compared to their others. I love the array of colors and finishes included. Make sure to check out my review on this palette here.

BRUSHES

20140305-163753.jpg

3) Tarte Buffy Bamboo Face Powder Brush (More information on this brush here)
I am really loving this brush! It is super soft and I use it to apply my mineral veil powder. It helps give a flawless finish with the powder. Also this brush is cruelty free which I love!!! Yes the price tag is hefty, but a lot of Tarte’s products are expensive. The brush has super nice quality. I have not noticed losing any bristles at all.

4) The Balm Powder to the People  (Powder/Blush Brush) (More information on this brush here)
I also really love this brush, but I use this one for blush. It isn’t as soft as some brushes that I have, but soft enough in my opinion. Sometimes if brushes are too soft, then it is hard to pick up product. I feel like this one is perfect. It isn’t scratchy on my face or anything like that. This seems to be my “go-to” blush brush.

BLUSH/POWDER

5) Tarte Amazionan Clay 12-Hour Blush (You can find more information on the blush here)
I have this blush in the color Glisten. It is the only Tarte blush that I own, but I can tell you that I would love to have more. Once again, because it is Tarte, it does have a hefty price tag. But, this blush goes on amazingly and had the perfect amount of pigmentation. I think that the color is a perfect everyday pink color. It does have some sparkle in the pan, but it looks amazing on the cheek.  It also has longevity which is always a nice thing to have in a makeup product.

20140305-163846.jpg

20140305-163831.jpg

6. bareMinerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder (You can find more information on this powder here)
Here is another item that was featured on my blog hop post. I just think that this powder gives me a nice finish. I don’t have oily skin or anything, but I just like how it completes the look and gives me more of an airbrushed finish. I have this powder in original. The only thing that I don’t like about it, is that it is sort of messy. But, that is to be a little expected, because it is a loose powder. It is easy to get the right amount of powder wanted without wasting it, because there is a nice closure part that keeps the powder in place when not in use.

20140305-163804.jpg

Tv Shows

The Voice started up again, but this time with Shakira and Usher instead of Christina Aquilera and CeeLo Green. I have to say that I love this group of judges way more. They make it more interesting and keep me involved without my mind drifting.  I, of course, have been loving my ABC Family shows (Switched at Birth, The Fosters, and Twisted).

Movies (Pictures from IMDB)

Endless Love: Yes! I will admit that I love chick flicks. I really did like this movie, although it isn’t my favorite. I thought it had a cute story.
The Lego Movie: Yes! I did go to this movie. Well…because I only had brothers growing up and they loved Legos. It was better than I thought it was going to be. I think it was cute. “Everything is Amazing.” Yes, that theme song was stuck in my head for awhile after seeing this movie.
12 Years a Slave: I thought that this was a really good movie. Very powerful! Congrats on winning the Oscar for best picture and also to Lupita Nyong’o on winning best supporting actress! You deserved it!!

Endless Love (2014) Poster The Lego Movie (2014) Poster

12 Years a Slave (2013) Poster

Books: Sadly, I didn’t finish a book this month! My New Year’s Resolution is already down the drain! 😦 I did start reading, “Divergent” so, hopefully, I will finish that book in March. I know the movie is coming out soon!

What am I looking forward to in March?
The Hunger Games Catching Fire Blue-ray/DVD release
Frozen Blue-ray/DVD release (so excited!!!)
Hopefully less days that are below zero and being closer to Spring/Summer

This completes my February favorites! Comment and let me know what your favorites have been and if you have tried any of these products!

Road Trip Beauty Essentials Blog Hop

I can’t believe another month has gone by and it’s time for another blog hop! That is crazy!!! I belong to this amazing group on Facebook called, “Beauty and Fashion Blog Community!” Through this group I have gotten to meet some bloggers from all over with the same interest as me! I recommend checking it out!

Right now I would love to take a last minute trip! As amazing as that sounds I think I will be stuck in Minnesota for awhile finishing out the coldest winter in decades (or at least that is what the meteorologists say)! I may not remember all the winters,  but this one is cold! Schools have been canceled numerous times! My cousin just told me that she hasn’t had a full week of school since Christmas due to the below zero temperatures and the frigid windchill that could freeze skin in less than 10 minutes!

Sorry about my rant about the winter here in Minnesota!

So this post is going to be a little bit of imagination! I am going to pretend that I’m going somewhere warm. I know this type of trip probably wouldn’t be last minute, but it’s all imagination right now! So FLORIDA here I come!!!

Of course I will be stopping at Disney World, Medieval Times, and Harry Potter World! Got to try that Butterbeer!

So since this is a last minute trip, I would have to pack quickly! I know up North to Duluth, MN or to the Cities in Minnesota would have been more realistic, but sunny Florida is calling my name! The point of this blog hop is to share what 5 items I would bring along during this trip, besides necessities (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant).  Also, I will probably buy some makeup there. I heard about Disney inspired makeup palettes only available at Disney World. I would definitely have to check those out!

MY 5 ITEMS

20140227-231327.jpg

1) Warm Neutrals Palette by Sigma Beauty

What Sigma says, “The Sigma Beauty Warm Neutrals Eye Shadow Palette is comprised of 12 new neutral shades of rich, warm hues giving you the ability to create endless options for a lit-from-within glow. This collection features matte, frost, sheen, duo-chrome and shimmer finishes. Paraben-free.” More information here. I also did a review of this palette here.

I just really love this palette and I think that it would be perfect for travel because it has a bunch of different neutral colors. I could create many different looks with this array of colors and finishes. I was debating on if I would take this palette over any of the Naked palettes, but I decided on this one because it has a little of everything in it including rose toned neutrals.

2) Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer by The Balm

What The Balm says, “This weightless, silky-smooth tinted moisturizer with SPF 18 offers sun protection for everyday drama while helping to improve the look of your skin’s tone and texture, leaving you with a polished complexion.” More information here.

A big reason why I would bring this is because it is super easy to apply and it has SPF in it. With me being Scandinavian decent, I have a tendency to burn. Although when I do it usually turns to tan instead of peeling. I feel like if I’m on vacation I don’t need to apply a full face of foundation. This gives me pretty good coverage for being a tinted moisturizer!

3) Rockateur Box O’ Powder by Benefit Cosmetics

What Benefit says, “Pick up the beat with a rush of heat! This rockin’ rose gold cheek powder gives a famously provocative flush that turns heads on-stage and off. The crowd will go wild for its sexy faceted design, accented in luxe gold. For an encore, the custom angled, dimensional brush gives rich, show-stopping payoff every time.” More information here

Here is one of my favorite blushes! It is my only blush from Benefit. I just really love this color and it gives a nice sutle color that would be perfect for this trip!

4) Mineral Veil by bareMinerals

What bareMinerals says, “Get the ultimate flawless finish while protecting your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays. Make the most of your makeup with Mineral Veil, a see-through but spectacular finale for any kind of complexion. Minimizing lines, absorbing oils, and softening your complexion, it gives you a flawless finish that’s too good to miss. And best of all, it’s utterly weightless. Just a bare veil of minerals that lock makeup in place and give your skin airbrushed perfection.” More information here

I would bring this item with because I think it helps complete my face after using my tinted moisturizer. It also helps protect my skin from UV rays which is very important. I have it in the shade original.

5) Wonderstruck Enchanted Perfume Rollerball by Taylor Swift

What Ulta says, “Wonderstruck Enchanted by Taylor Swift is an irresistible blend of luscious wild berries and sugar-glazed petals wrapped in a touch of sensuality for a captivating signature.” More information here.

I love this perfume! I think that it has the perfect girly scent and since it is a roller-ball it would be easy to pack into a bag. I also love Taylor Swift’s original Wonderstuck perfume. I feel like the Enchanted one is more for an evening out, but could really be worn anytime of the day.
