It has been forever since I’ve done a BarkBox review, but I felt like it was time to sit down and write one up. This BarkBox post is going to be a little different than the others because I have 3 boxes to share with you. See, I told you it was a loooooong time! I felt like it was important to show you all the items Mirya got in her boxes just in case you’re were debating on getting a BarkBox for your little ball of fluff. That way you can see 3 boxes and decide if you feel like BarkBox is worth the money. BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs that you can get in monthly, 3 months, 6 months, or yearly durations. Also, depending on the size of dog you’re buying for, they have different BarkBoxes geared for that size of dog. That is a good thing because, imagine a chihuahua playing with the size of a toy meant for a great dane or vice versa?!? When I first signed up for BarkBox is was during Cyber Monday and there was a really good deal going on, so I went with a 3 month subscription. I forgot to cancel my subscription box so Mirya got another 3 boxes. Mirya’s last Barkbox will be in May.
FEBRUARY
When I first opened this box, I was a little disappointed with the toy options. Although, Mirya loves the white surrogate human (or so that is what they call it) a lot! Her and Maddie fight over it all the time! It has a nice little squeaker in it. This toy has gotten a lot of love and is holding up really well. The other toy, not as lucky. Mirya chewed that up that same day and I had to throw it away. I felt like that is a beginner toy for a puppy, not for a dog, like Mirya that enjoys chewing. Mirya really enjoyed the Superior Farms treats a lot, but Maddie would have nothing to do with them. She did not like the smell of them. Mirya was just happy to have a treat. They were shaped as a heart, and I think I would repurchase them for Mirya. Each BarkBox comes with a chew stick from the Barkworthies brand. They are more natural than most chew sticks. Mirya loves loves loves these! I have to take it away after awhile because she would chew it up all in one sitting. The last item is the cheese puff treats and both Mirya and Maddie loved them. All in all, this box was good, but could have been better.
MARCH
Once again, some interesting toys. This months toys were horrible. Mirya pretty much chewed them up right away and they did not last longer than a couple days. She got the toy chewed up so that I could see the insides and it had this stringy material inside. The egg lasted longer than the bacon. If I remember right, the bacon sort of had a bacon type smell. Well, then no wonder she chewed it up so fast! I really liked the treats included this month. Mirya loves the organic baked biscuits. I have yet to open the other treats. Once again, this box comes with a chew by Barkworthies, a favorite of Miryas. Overall, this box was a disappointment because the toys fell apart so fast! I doubt that Mirya is the only dog that loves to chew!?! Come on BarkBox, send out better toys!
APRIL
This month’s box is a little different, because I know that my blog readers love Mirya! I thought it would be fun to do a video! Bare with me, I don’t do videos ever, so I am not used to speaking with a camera or filming for that matter.
I hope that you enjoyed this post! Comment down below what you thought of Mirya and her BarkBoxes! We love hearing from you!
Xoxo… Mirya & her human Brittany
Mirya’s so gorgeous! Great video too xx
Thank you! Thanks for watching! Mirya sure has an adorable personality!
Love the video! Do they make a bark box for kids??? 🙂
Thank you! Yes, they do make subscription boxes for kids. There are a bunch of craft type ones.
Love the bacon and eggs!
Lol! It was sad that they fell apart. Did you watch the video?
Loved the video. Would have loved to see Mirya being more active, too (she’s so cute!), but she was obviously so in love with that chew- thingy
While watching you describe all the different treats, I remembered a (4 ingredient) doggy treat recipe I have found on Pinterest (& been meaning to try). It’s for Peanut Butter Doggie Biscuits (courtesy of the BrownEyedBaker) and you can find it here: http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2007/11/03/gone-to-the-dogs/. Just though Miss M. might enjoy it.
Ps. I wasn’t a 100% on whether dogs should eat PB, so I researched it a bit. It turns out that they can – as long as it’s an all-natural brand, without added salt or sugar. If anything, it is apparently a great source of protein, vitamins and healthy fats (!)
She loves those chewy things. I’ll post some more videos of mirya in the future. Her next barkbox I will have to open it with her on camera and give her the chew thing last. Aww thank you for the recipe. I’m sure mirya would love them.
Ps.2: Do make sure there’s no allergies in play. I am thinking some dogs may be allergic to PB, just like humans are!
I think she has had some peanut butter before and it has gone fine. My dog Maddie who lives at my parents has terrible allergies. Poor Maddie! She is 10.
Ps.3 (jee, I’m hopeless today): If you are worried about possible allergies, you might wanna check out this Beef & Cheddar version: http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2012/01/16/beef-cheddar-dog-treats-recipe/.
And…no, I’m not shamelessly promoting the Brown Eyed Baker (don’t even follow that blog, tbh). Just genuinely think these both sound interesting…
Thank you! 🙂 she would love these as well. Pretty sure she would love anything. She isn’t that picky. She always wants to eat paper and cardboard. I have to watch her constantly cuz she always want to chew on boxes and paper.
I notiecd your comments about the sturdyness of the toys. Barkbox has a “heavy chewer” option. Doesn’t seem the advertise it. I found out about it when I contacted customer service when I noticed other people were getting different toys than we were. We accidentally got put on the Agressive chewer type and the toys we’d been getting were uninteresting to my dog who is not an agressive chewer. So now it’s fixed and we’ll be getting plush toys going forward
Oh wow! I did not know that! Mirya is sure a heavy chewer, but she still loves some soft plush toys as well.
